Petition For Increase In Charges Against Murray

im done with murrays ass.how many sigs do we need for this to be affective? because we dont know when the judge's going to call for trial. could be tomorrow we dont know, and these petitions take awhile. would it be too late if the prelim's over before this petition gets enough sigs?

i still think its a good thing too to call the d.a. office personaly or leave him a voicemail.

This is an official petition, done by a site that specializes in that. When we feel there are enough signatures, it will be delivered to the prosecutor. Not sure if that will be emailed by the site directly, but I'll find out and post that info tomorrow.

This action just started today, so if we can get as much people on board and make a lot of noise then the press will pick up on it (even though they've already been informed about it). Once press is involved then the pressure is on the DA to perform, seeing how clearly the case has been playing out to murder 2 in just a few days.
 
hopefully cause we only got bout 50 sigs right now. but no one has answered my question, will this petition still work if the prelims finished before it? cause the judge had enough evidence to end it today

Exactly! Plus, the press-release has been sent to MANY major news outlets, and others. Including TMZ . . . . . and, of course, CNN.

Also, the European members of M.J.A.N. are busy doing the same in Europe, and translating the press-release into their languages, as well as posting on FaceBook and websites. We just need to get the word out, as much as we can.

Oops! Sorry for double post! (Didn't see this one, and not sure how to edit it into my last post. . . sorry. . .)

The answer is, I don't think it will work after the prelims. The judge will hear the evidence and then make a ruling and/or the DA can elevate the charges. That's why we have to get as many signatures as possible, as fast as possible.

But, this just went up a couple of hours ago and the signatures are still coming!

Actually, I'm not positive if the judge can elevate the charges after the prelim? I'll look it up tomorrow, though.

I think it would be ok to call the DA, but any fans who do so must be professional and polite if it's to have an impact. As I'm sure you know!

For everyone? When you sign the petition, you'll get an email confirmation. That will include a statement that you can use if you contact others by email to urge them to sign the petition. (your email address will not be visible on the petition)

The statement reads:

Will the petition be sent to the DA on a certain day, or after a certain number of sigs?

Also, remember to send to your non-MJ friends too... remind them that a father was taken away from three children, and that it's in EVERYONE's interest that the US justice system stays fair.

I think it's really noble for you to organise this petition in order to get justice for Michael, but don't you think the prosecutors know what they are doing and the charges are what they are because it's most likely to get a conviction with these? I would at least inquire with some legal experts before pushing this petition.

We at M.J.A.N. have already done the necessary legal research, and a lot of, shall we say, "background work?" Much thought and expertise went into this effort.

You don't have to sign if you don't want to, of course. Most of us feel that the alternative is literally unthinkable -- that with Involuntary Manslaughter, Murray could get NO jail time at all. (I'm a long-time political activist, and this is how the system WORKS, for justice. Michael deserves our best efforts, and I, for one, will NOT let him down!)
 
How many members does MJJC have? perhaps some members do not visit this part of the forum but would be interested to find out that this petition is happening. Could pms be sent out to make sure all members of MJJC know of this petition

Well, it's good you've done background work. But you do know that Mesereau, a lawyer whose expertise we all respect around here, thinks the current charges are suitable as they will most likely lead to conviction?

Even if we all signed this petition, would it make a difference? The judicial system is not lead by public opinion but by laws and juristiction. Again, I applaud you for supporting Michael, I'm just wondering if this is a wise move. I might support the petition later on when more info has surfaced.
 
The petition is not only about increasing the charge to M2 (which I do think is unlikely)... it's also about adding further charges for covering up his crime.
