Preliminary Hearing 11/1/11. Day Six. Discussion Thread

why are you upset that they did not "up" the charges? You do want the Prosecution to WIN right? Even with all the evidence...the prosecution still could not PROVE malicious intent.

http://criminal.findlaw.com/crimes/a-z/murder_second_degree.html

Second-degree murder is ordinarily defined as 1) an intentional killing that is not premeditated or planned, nor committed in a reasonable "heat of passion" or 2) a killing caused by dangerous conduct and the offender's obvious lack of concern for human life. Second-degree murder may best be viewed as the middle ground between first-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter.

Ugh. It makes me sick to think someone can commit murder and pay such a small price.

Tells about how cheap life is this day

I have a feeling of all this wait being almost worth nothing.... but then I tell myself at least this is something.

How is it that we have to keep waiting for "crumbs of justice" when it comes to Michael Jackson? :mello:

from TMZ

In his closing statement, Deputy District Attorney David Walgren told the judge, "It was not Michael Jackson's time to go. Michael Jackson is not here today because of the negligence and reckless acts of Dr. Murray."

So the cover up doesn't deserve any additional charges then? Nothing about Murrays wrecklessness does?

You know what, we've been through this a thousand times. There's really no point right now.

that really takes the piss. he'll probs only serve half the sentence. and michaels name will no doubt be dragged through the mud over and over during the trial.

the double standards are sickening, a man is murdered and the perpetrator is only sentenced to 4 yrs, somebody else got the same sentence for bootlegging cds, but with mj they added every possible charge they could think of, and they were willing to shove him in a cell for 20 years based on bogus allegations.

Ustream people are annoying me with their drama and use of the phrase "ordered to stand trial in the murder of Michael Jackson". Believe what you want (I'm not exactly opposed to the idea...) but don't use it in your friggin reports at a time like this - I want facts, not opinion. And it seems impossible to get just the facts from them, it's always wrapped up in opinion and hard to extricate. Sorry. Just had to let that out.

absolutly digusted.....he kills a man..hides the evidence....lies about everything an all he faces is 4 years...how the hell is that justice.....its not in my book..there is PLENTY of evidence to prove murder2

well ,now i will start praying for some prison justice if go to jail. what about his license?

this is just too much to fathom, I've been pushed to my limits. this is plain injustice.

That's always been the truth.:(

Thanks for saying this. He had so much more to give and to live for.

I wonder what would happen if anyone of us did the same to some of their fav VIP's -_-

sad but true:(

Guys....calm down. We don't even know for SURE ye what was said...they are not even OUT of the courtroom yet, so stop the drama. Let's WAIT for what was REALLY said first. Also...it does not matter what we think....if we think it's murder or not...if you can not prove it. Obviously The Deuputy District Attorney Walgren is doing a good job...he's on a roll. I'd say he is a smart guy and just like with the medical stuff, let's trust that the EXPERTS know what they are doing, okay. The prosecutor is the one who studied law and has the experience and expertise, so I am sure he knows what he is doing and will do what he thinks woudl work the best. He has CLEARLY proven he's competent so far, in my opinion. He has been pretty thorough, and I at least am very satisfied with the work he has done so far. What I think the charges should be.whether it shoudl be involuntary manslaughter or murder really is irrelevat (yes, of course I'd WANT to have Murray go to prison for LIFE), because I never studied law (well, not completely true...I did take law classes at university when I studied business administration because they were required...but it hardly makes me any kind of expert). Anyways...point is...let's trust the EXPERTS and let's applaud the prosecutor for a job well done so far. And now fingers crossed that Murray's license will get suspended!

You have known what the charge was since February 2010. No one told you they were going to change. Saying it was second degree and proving it or two different things

how many times does it have to be said u dont not need to prove intent for murder 2

and why is the prosecutor going on about murray caring more about covering up evidence than looking after mj in his closing speech. if u think that u charge him with obstruction of justice. this whole week has been a total waste should have gone to a GJ instead of letting the defence see so much evidence. D.A wants an easy win so he can be a star.

How come no one is coming out of this courtroom ?

How long is this supposed to be ?

Can someone pls tell me how this works?

Can the Jude increase the charges himself or must the D.A (Walgren) ask him to increase the charges based on the evidence in the prelim. In other words, is it only up to the D.A to prove WHY the judge should increase, if so, did he ever mention this to the judge?

I agree Elusive, this should have gone to a grand jury from the start. The DA isn't in this with his whole heart.

I wonder who'd be stupid enough to ask for Dr. Murray, even if they didn't suspend his license....

do we have official confirmation on the license issue? So far I can't see any media reporting this, Is it really suspended?
