Dame Elizabeth Taylor passes away at 79 / Elizabeth Taylor Laid to Rest at Forest Lawn

I don't know why I've checked some comments (on behalf of Yahoo members) on the news that Elizabeth was laid to rest at Forest Lawn beside Michael... I really don't... There were nothing but positive remarks made about her person and personality (thankfully)... but Michael was/is being trashed and called injurious names even now.. and that they expected Elizabeth to not have requested that she is placed beside him. .. It completely crushed me. Like, not even now, when yet another great person passed away (thankfully peacefully, by all accounts..), can many abstain from being hateful and horrible. ...

...... ):

why are you paying attention to that Yahoo message board.. It's trash and always has been. That hateful board trashes everyone. They have nothing better to do than to sit around and trash folks on Yahoo.

Omg stop with that topic. Someone has just passed away and you just use your time on things like that? stop it right NOW.

I remember seeing Elizabeth at MJ's funeral and she looked so solemn and sad. I actually think his death broke her spirits. She was getting packed getting ready to go to London to be with him and everything. She looked truly heartbroken and I don't think she was the same since. When she said she doesn't know how she will live without him, that demonstrated true love right there to me.

This I found interesting... Enjoy

She's Got Elizabeth Taylor Eyes

posted by Vera H-C Chan - Thu Mar 24 2011, 11:27 AM PDT

Elizabeth Taylor Everett Collection In death, as in life, it is her eyes that haunt.

After Hollywood's grande dame Elizabeth Taylor passed away, people paid their online respects, searching out her biography, baby pictures, good works (AIDS foundation), her relationships both familial (children, Richard Burton) and famous (Michael Jackson, Andy Warhol). Yet most unique were those eyes, and people wanted another look into them as they sought out "elizabeth taylor eyes," "elizabeth taylor violet eyes pictures," and "elizabeth taylor's eye close up."

Could someone's eyes truly be purple? If photos or her namesake perfume -- Violet Eyes, which debuted just last spring -- weren't proof enough, eyewitness accounts certainly testify to those riveting orbs. A remembrance by Hollywood Reporter film critic Todd McCarthy recalled a meeting in the 1970s, when the actress had essentially retired from the big screen. "What should abruptly stop me in my tracks," he wrote, "but a pair of eyes unlike I've ever beheld, before or since; deep violet eyes of a sort withheld from ordinary mortals that were suddenly looking up into mine from mere inches away."

David Stratton, a film critic for the Australian, also swooned in a 1973 encounter following a festival premiere of her movie "Night Watch": "I was ushered into her presence at the official reception and found myself transfixed by her famous violet eyes. I have never seen eyes of that color before or since and I don't believe cinemagoers were able to appreciate how remarkable they were."

Eye of the Beholder

Violet is indeed a rarity, more so than green eyes, although theories as to what makes them purple vary. Color, of course, is determined by how much melanin pigment the eye has and, to get really scientific, those variations in single nucleotide polymorphisms (thankfully shortened to SNPS) near the OCA2 gene, which are responsible for the color of eyes, hair, and skin. Then again, the simplest explanation would be the same one her doctor gave her mother when describing baby Elizabeth's double row of eyelashes: a "mutation," according to the 1996 book Elizabeth.

Those eyes inspired longing, envy, and a few beauty products: Chicago optical company Wesley-Jensen created violet contact lenses in the 1980s. Before their debut, a W-J spokesperson told The New York Times, "pictures of Elizabeth Taylor are pasted all over our R&D lab." A California ocularist, one of the few in the world to create artificial eyeballs, fulfilled one patient's request for "Elizabeth Taylor eyes."

If you wondered what the scent of violet eyes might be, that would be "light shades of purple rose and violet peony, combined with velvety accents of white peach" with a "voluptuous blend of cedar wood and amber [to] convey the power, sensuality, and mystery of Elizabeth Taylor's eyes."

thank you for posting this..it truly is beautiful...

I have been thinking about this myself....I think Elizabeth truly missed Michael so much...her heart was just broken and she may of lot her will. They are both together in heaven now...they dont have to be without each other anymore.

Thank you so much, dear Elizabeth for being a good friend to our Michael.

Reading all your lovely comments here has me in tears all over again. It is so comforting to know that Elizabeth spent Easter with Michael and his family in 2009. And now she is buried in the Mausoleum with Michael. I am inconsolable that she is gone, but I know in my heart that Michael would not want her to suffer any longer. I am sure they are together having a great time now.

Yeah and I remember this story below.. not knowing if it's accurate though!!

"Michael Jackson's Insane Interior Design

TMZ has learned MJ ordered the incredibly unique items for a London mansion he was supposed to live in during the run of his "This Is It" tour ... but he died before the Italian furniture maker -- Colombostile -- could deliver the goods.

Among the items -- lavish sofas, a crystal-encrusted chair, a desk with a secret compartment and much more -. We're told ***** bought one of the chairs specifically for his friend Elizabeth Taylor to sit in when she came to visit."

In Memory of Miss Elizabeth Taylor

Here's an astonishing fact: In 1977, when Elvis Presley died suddenly, PEOPLE magazine did not put him on the cover. Back then, not many tabloid shows existed, and therefore, in magazines and in news magazine shows, his death was covered in a very minor way. It's weird to realize that in those days, the thought of giving "press" to the passing of a celebrity was considered "too macabre" a topic for readers and viewers.

That all changed, of course, on the fateful day when John Lennon was murdered in 1980. Suddenly, TV, radio, and print media "got" that we fans want to know about our legends who are "taken" from us. We fans, who carefully follow the careers of people like Elvis, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, and, Elizabeth Taylor -- want a full news accounting of their death and the circumstances surrounding it. Today, more than ever, with the rocky state of affairs in the world, when an ICON dies, we all want to see a tribute, a full-on farewell, to the person who kept us inspired, entertained, and engaged... to the person who, in certain ways, changed the world we live in.

Today, we mourn the passing of Elizabeth Taylor, not only because was she larger than life, but because she was a movie star who cared. One of the first icons to step up to fight AIDS, Miss Taylor also was not afraid to stand up to "media nonsense" -- especially in the case of Michael Jackson. It's no secret that the two of them were close -- that Liz spent a lot of time at Neverland in a time period when the media hated Michael, and hurled allegations at the pop star that he would never eradicate. In the end, when Michael was facing the battle of his life in court -- Liz Taylor was not present in the Santa Maria courthouse to show support for him. But, now in retrospect, we much consider that maybe she was too ill, and too tired, to continue to fight for Michael, or even for herself. Come to think of it, we have not seen much of Elizabeth Taylor in public for the past 5 years, except to learn reports of her health issues. Perhaps she was suffering too much in the past few years, and was fighting her own health battle that was worsening with alarming speed.

Like Elvis, Michael, and John, we know that most everything in Elizabeth Taylor's life made headlines around the world. Now, in death, we should think, not of her her very public shredding of spouses, or her extraordinary excesses, that we all gossiped about. rather, we should remember that Miss Taylor embodied all that was glamour... all that was beautiful and sophisticated. Women loved her movies, her diamonds, and her style... and men, simply melting looking at her violet eyes. Liz just might be the last of the GREAT movie stars... who, on screen, even outdid Cleopatra!

I look up to her with a kind of reverence, and an ever present sense that, WOW, I wish we could have more stars like her... who are willing to stand up for what's right, in the face of all adversity.

God Bless you, Miss Taylor.

Your empathy was real, and your tireless work to alleviate suffering, will forever be your tribute.

Love You All,

Aphrodite

Michael Jackson considered Dame Elizabeth Taylor as “royalty”.

The late singer – who was known as the ‘King of Pop’ – was a close friend of the Hollywood beauty, who passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011aged 79, and believed they understood each other because they had both been child stars.

Their mutual friend David Gest said: “I recall the time we were having dinner at La Scala restaurant in Beverly Hills. People flocked around her - it was funny because for once Michael wasn't the centre of attention.

“I remember he leaned over and whispered to me, ‘Now that's what you call royalty.’

“To Americans she was royalty, she was the closest thing they have to a queen and everywhere she went people fawned over her.

“Michael once told me that the reason they got along so well was that she was a child star herself, so understood him completely.”

Concert promoter David also revealed ‘Thriller’ singer – who died in June 2009 - would often shower the ‘Cleopatra’ star with gifts, and felt he could be “human” when he was with her.

David added to The Sun newspaper: “They would take trips together to New York or London. And Elizabeth loved lavish gifts. Michael would shower her with presents of jewellery and said she was like an excited little kid when he presented her with something new.

“She loved this specific violet rose which you could only get in this one Beverly Hills florist.”

Elizabeth started her career aged 10 in the film ‘There’s One Born Every Minute’ in 1942, and went on to become one of the biggest stars of the ‘Golden Age of Hollywood’ in the 1950s. She continued acting until 2001 appearing in the TV film ‘These Old Broads’.

Michael shot to fame as a member of The Jackson Five, which he starred in from the age of six with his brothers, before going on to become one of the biggest pop stars of all-time.

The group had their first hit with lead vocals from Michael in 1969 with ‘I Want You Back’. - Bang Showbiz

Aw Lord, take care of Mrs. Liz. She was as an angel of kindness for Michael. We all know she's on to a better place now... out of her pain but it's hard to us to cope with the loss. Help us because we don't want to allow the pain to pull us down. :( RIP Mrs Elizabeth Taylor.

Im not sure if this has been posted, but this is one of the last pictures of Liz at her birthday, in January 11.
