Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon by David Gest (merged)

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Exclusive Advanced Blu-ray and DVD Cover Preview

This looks promissing but i hope one day someone does a documentary concerning only MJ's music and art, without all the other usual controversies. I don't know if this kind of a documentary is done before but i would pay a hella lot of money to own it.

Well there is the book by Joe Vogel coming out Nov 1 I think and it's about his music and art.

Blue, is Rebbie really talking about some negative thing in this documentary? Is she commenting on the 90s, when he had problems? I really do not think the siblings know much about Michael's day to day activities past early 80's after he moved to Neverland. Plus, as I said before, Rebbie was gone from that home a long time. Michael even points that out in his book, and from his tone you get the feeling that they were not very close, because she was way older than him. Tito will have something good to say, but I do not know about Rebbie. I wanted to buy this because I think this is the one TMez said he did an interview for, but if it has a bunch of trash form any family member, I will not buy it. I think I will now wait for the reviews to come out about what family members say before I spend my money then.

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

That's what I remember reading! I can't be the only one here!? lol o_O Her talking about him having an addiction problem as in before he passed! That's what's in the doc I believe!? It's hard to find that thread now to see the article where it shows what's she said in this doc? Can someone help?!

Also Rebbie never back down in her statement. She said the same not to long ago on the view also and in the doc u can here her ready to blame Mj for his problems only as she always did and others will agree, u'll see! They blame him for the sycophants and the Yes men he kept around that in their minds ended his life!

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

Im sure there are a lot of nice positive moments and interesting facts about MJ in the Doc
Sadly the doc will also be tainted by the addict references ..

They are also going to go with the drug addict stories via rebbie and others
who were not even present at any of these so called interventions and also we
can hear on the trailer Gest stating he removed anyone from his life who tried to
help him. (so yes what do you think he is speaking of ) More like he removed
those trying to leech off him or badger or try and guilt him him into doing there
projects .. They only came to him if they wanted something from him.

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

^ That's what I mean, right there. So I will pass! There were enough docs on TV these past two yrs of the same kind of talk! So what makes this one so different? Is it tito?! lmao They also will include Randy J. taraborrelli I can here is stupid voice in the tralier!

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

Thanks Blue, with this information from Rebbie and others, I will have to pass this one up. The nice stories I already know, so I do not need to spend my money on bad things about Michael from people who are just giving their opinions. I wish they had chosen a different family member than Rebbie, though. I really do not want to hear about drugs, when we know this was at a specific time in his life and not a life-long behavior. What is the relationship between Rebbie and Michael, anyway that makes her act like this all the time?

To date, it seems there is nothing of quality about Michael the man out there, except for the few minutes that people speak about him on shows.

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

Not intrested in docs they cant tell me anything we havnt read or heard 50 times before.even more so when its reebie and her b.s. and family he never saw for years.fans know more.at least with cascio book its by ppl who were actually around him not ppl who claim to know but hadnt seen him in years

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

At least this shit is going straight to dvd right?theres nothing that pisses me off more than his stupid family and fake friends claiming he got rid of anyone that coukd help him.help and save him from what? insomnia.rather blame mj then admit he didnt want to see your annoying leaching arses.how about u look at yourself instead of blaming mj.its so much easier to play the saint and blame someone who cant speak for themselves.

^^Yes he said it is going to be DVD because the woman from Universal said they could make good sales for the Christmas season.

Right now, it seems the only thing I bought after 09 was the TII videos, Vision, and download part of Michael. I guess I will have to wait for the book from Prince.

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

I guess alk the jacksons are doing their best to be out of the usa during the trial so murray cant call them

rebbie set her stall the day she supported stacy brown over her own brother.

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

You know now that I think of it most of them have things to do during the trial. I hope they sort of talk to each other so that they could have at least 2 people there at all times. It will look bad if only his mother is there all the time, when he has older brothers and sisters.

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

In all honesty(IMO) rebbie is very passive about michael, she did not have a strong bond or connection with him, yet she speaks as if she has been there everyday of his life. The way the Jackson family carry on as a very close knit/loving family, you would think that it is all true, however if that was the case then why did michael felt so alone? I don't think the family has been there to help michael out of love, concern, and care, to me it all seemed as it was business and that is so not right. I don't think that every member was out to gain from michael, at least I hope not but it is just sad of all the pain that he has been through and his family just don't seem to understand that, or feel any shame at all IMO.

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

^^Yes if she is does not have a strong connection with him, then she should stop making tabloid statements about her brother. Even Tabeorelli, can't spell his name, was not close to Michael later in life, and he speaks in the documentary, so what are these people saying? Are they sharing their memories of Michael or trying to analyze what people tell them?

Did any fans ask Gest any questions about the book, and about how Michael was portrayed.

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

TMez recommended this doc and thought it was beautiful. I highly doubt he would give a thumbs-up to a doc that totally defamed Mike's character. It's obvious it's gonna have flaws like other docs but the doc looks decent overall.

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

I am divided here.

Firstly I do not agree with being rude towards the Jackson Family.
It is not respectful towards Michael or dignified on our behalves as Michael's fans.
As Michael's fans ... let's be like him .... decent, humble, respectful.

That said .... fan's grievences can/should be expressed .... but in a respectful manner.

I was just wondering what would be best?

If ..... all these tributes and projects and new album releases for Michael were NOT organised .... it would look as if they did not care
:(
As if his talent and legacy was ignored.
And fans would probably have something to say about that too?

So what do we as fans want?

Do we want only the Estate to organise anything Michael related?

What about fabulous productions like Cirque du Soleil's Immortal Tour?
Is that the ONLY type of events we want which honors all Michael's work of excellence... to continue Michael's legacy?

IMO .... for years and years we could not find a Michael related t-shirt or book or any MJ memorabilia. Michael's name was a swear word and his music was not played.
Now we have all the above and in abundance .... and we have great Tribute shows for Michael like THRILLER LIVE which tours world wide and I've just seen Kenny Wiz ( a Michael impersonator) tour in South Africa with his HISTORY - THIS is IT Tour which was excellent!!
The audiences were ecstatic and there were full houses, showing that Michael's music is LOVED. I saw SMALL children standing up at these shows, dancing and singing Michael's lyrics word for word.
I was ecstatic!!

Michael's fabulous music, dance moves and story in books is available to our youth now!!!
Is this not wonderful ...???!!!

Should we not allow this to continue ... or do we call it making money off his name?

I believe it should be allowed .... as long as it is produced with excellence in honor of a man who only ever produced excellence.

KISS was not that .... :(
And that is where the problem began with the Michael Forever Tribute in Whales.

I look forward to David Guest's film - MICHAEL JACKSON: THE LIFE OF AN ICON - ... because I think it will do much to bring to light the REAL Michael to the general public .. after they have been fed with twisted facts from evil tabloids for far too long!
"This is It" was an excellent beginning ..... and a follow up from David Guest would certainly further help restore Michael's legacy in bringing the truth to light about Michael the MAN & the musician.

What is important is that the new generation gets to learn what an amazing man and musician Michael was and IS .... whether it be told with books, films, CD's etc etc .... and it is produced with RESPECT & EXCELLENCE ... and most important ... REBUTS all the twisted garbage we were fed by a media gone mad because of greed and jealousy!

Let's embrace any project that celebrates the BRILLIANCE that Michael was .... and remains.

And may we as Michael's fans continue to try and help heal this world like Michael wanted with ... L.O.V.E ?

SHAMONE !

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

I don't know about David Gest and his past, neither I'm interested in it. Michael Jackson is dead, there will be much more vultures around who want to earn something with MJ. Well you can't stop them, you can be pissed here, but it doesn't change anything.
I have seen so much people being pissed, it isn't the solution, if you really want to help, you can make yourself important by doing work outside of the internet, being someone giving love to those who need it.
No offence against the MJJC team.

I'm going to buy this dvd!

So am I
But What does the MJJC Team have to do with your opinion and Why would MJJC be offended ?

MJJC is not taking any sides about this documentary. We allow Fans to Voice thier own opinions here
Pro or con - just like you :) There are also fans in here that are looking forward to the documentary
Like myself. Even though I am leary of what may be portrayed in some parts.

I am removing censoring the explicite language from you post though.

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

I meant, I appreciate the work you all put in this website.
I know you didn't participate in this documentary, but I said people should go outside of the internet and do something Michael would like people to do, instead of being all so negative on a discussion board which will nothing change.
That's what I think.
People can express their opinion, of course, but I have seen so many negative responses, it's not good for the heart.

My reply was deleted for some reason so I will try to put it across in a nicer way.

If you want to watch David Gest's work, do you not think he deserves to get paid for that?

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

Is this gonna come on TV???

Or have I missed it???

Anyway, is it me or am I the only one who doesn't feel any excitement or enthusiasm towards this project.

I think it could be because it'll never be a complete biography since they'll be no footage of music videos (and "making of" footage) and only minimal footage of performances, rehearsals and recording songs. And most likely they'll be zero music from his solo albums (post motown).

I also find it odd how the trailer mentions names like Dionne Warwick and Smokey Robinson but fail to mention names like Macaulay Culkin and Diana Ross, who are two of his best friends. It adds to the incompleteness.

And in the trailer David Gest says, "Most of us that tried to help he just eliminated."

There are many words I would to call that guy, but all are unsuitable for this forum.

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

I don't know if David Gest deserve to be seen as a buzzer or leach, that's why I haven't decided if buy it or not. What I know is that Katherine and Joe's actions have dissapointed me so badly and it's not fair they got money from their participation.

That DG comment was so mean imo.

That is why I wanted to see it, because TMez was in it, but the Rebbie parts is making me think twice. Does anyone know for how long she will talk. Sometimes just one bad apple could spoil the whole bunch, at least, in my eyes.

When I go to that MJ Innocent activity in LA next week, I am going to ask TMez if he saw the whole documentary, that is if I get a chance to talk to him.

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

That's an interesting argument to consider Petrarose but I agree what you mentioned about Rebbie, I'm mad at her.

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

I find Rebbie to be cold to Michael to be honest. That's how it comes across. Her son talks more loving towards Michael then she does. I don't know her or heard much about her like Janet and Latoya so it's hard to know.

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

She called him drugaddict on The Vew and insisted on the allegued intervention, that's why I'm mad at her.

but I said people should go outside of the internet and do something Michael would like people to do, instead of being all so negative on a discussion board which will nothing change.
That's what I think.
L&L, I am trying to understand why you think that people who say something negative are not doing something Michael would like people to do.

Let's look at this: Michael believed in doing anything, especially his art to the best of his ability. One of this talents was his singing and dancing. So, every time any member goes to work or school and do the best their can, they are adhering to his beliefs, period. Those who stay home and takes care of the home and family to the best of their ability are also doing something he likes. Fans here who will post something negative at times, will also go outside and support him at the trial; they donate to various causes; they help people, animals, those who are victims of famine, earthquakes, tidal waves, hurricanes; they help people they do not know or never saw. They do all these things outside of the internet and also come here and say something negative about what they do not like. They also say something positive about what they do like. These are the same people L&L.

Also, something Michael liked was humanitarian endeavors, and these behaviors by fans are listed above. We must also not forget that humanitarian endeavors can be done via the internet. When we see in a thread that a school needs our help and go to paypal and send them money, is that of less value because it was done over the internet?

Additionally, if someone does not want something, or does not want to do something, you can expect that the reasons are usually going to be negative. People rarely do not want something for "positive" reasons. For example, if you do not want to buy something, the reasons could be no money, you already have one so buying another would waste your money, you don't like it, it reminds you of something bad, and so on. Consequently, if there is a thread about buying something you can bet you will hear pros and cons on the idea. Some will like it and some will not.

To imply that people are being negative and should do something outside the internet that Michael would like, makes it seem that all the people who say something negative are not involved in complex lives and humanitarian efforts outside of the forum, and personally, I resent that.

Re: Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon - Excl Advanced Blu-ray & DVD Cover Preview *Update Post 13

Don't care to hear anything Rebbie has to say, don't care to hear anything David Gest has to say, so I guess this 'profit once again off Michael Jackson DVD' will be passing me by.
