In my opinion, even if one wasn't bias the 'poor me' card that the defense played at the end wouldn't play well to anyone. In a case when someone dies, especially a beloved figure who has young kids, the defense has to defend their client without demonizing or degrading the victim and the family. You have to point out their faults, but also showed that it wasn't entirely their own fault and the situation was just messed up. It is a tough line to balance and I think a skill defense lawyer like T-Mez could had done it.
The main problem with the defense from the beginning is that they showed no kind of pity, sympathy, or understanding towards Michael, his family, his friends, or his children. It was about Murray and his feelings and the DA rightfully slammed them for it.
