We want the L.A. 1989 concert on BLURAY campaign!!!

there have been 4 shows in LA 89. They could add DD from 26, thats no problem and no one would mind. or as bonus.
this project needs to be stoped and the concert replaced.

I don't think it should be replaced, because people would then start complaining about not getting Wembley, especially those who don't have a blu-ray player and are more interested in the performance. They should just release both, one on blu-ray and one on DVD. They could also make a blu-ray deluxe boxset with more than one show and lots of extras, that way it would give people an incentive to buy the blu-ray even if they already have the Wembley DVD.

True. That would indeed please everybody. Sure, that means the Estate and Sony have to invest a little more time and money, but it would be worth it as it will sell like hotcakes. A cinema release would do wonders too. People are more likely to go watch it in the theater and then buying the Blu-Ray of it since they'll probably enjoy what they'll see.

Yep, the THIS IS IT release in cinemas and on Bluray were huge successes!

Can someone post this campaign of foreign MJ forums in their own language??

yep ill sign it, if u dont ask u dont get, no harm in asking for the concert to be released! perhaps it can be released in the future ;)

I wonder what will happen if the Wembley released is actually good quality. Will the fans that been signing a petition four months earlier feel ridiculous?
Ehm, no. The OFFICIAL MJ Youtube channel chose to promote this concert using footage - which is low quality with a VHS source. Don't you think they would actually use the "good quality" stuff if they really had it?

Why would they mislead us?

*facepalm* I know I never ever post on here,I only just look at threads. But this is perfectly good reason to post.

Why can't we all be excited about what we're actually getting? Why do we have to ask for more?I'm grateful we're getting awesome things in the near future, and still it's not enough?Seriously? It's unfair. The Estate's actually trying to do something meaningful and we beg and barter for more!I say stop this petition and wait for FOUR months to actually get this release, and then if it's "not good",then go cry to the Estate about it,but I certainly don't want to see this within four months prior to Wembley being released.

Seriously, you need to read the first post carefully.

I agree the quality so far is not releasable, yet i refuse to complain for smth not close to being released and base it on a short streamed snippet. I rather wait and then complain.

plus, im thinking i'd enjoy more a good quality awesome concert than a blu ray where its being said he was tired and not such a good voice

I just want to thank IMWhizzle for making this thread and also thank all the other people supporting this initiative! :) We have to get the Bad Tour released on BluRay! A DVD containing the Wembley or any other concert is great for the fans (independently of the quality of the source) but only as a part of a package and only as a bonus. The Bad Tour deserves a main release on BluRay. The legacy of Michael Jackson deserves to be preserved by releasing his products in the best possible quality. DVD technology is outdated. It's time to save the Bad Tour (and also all Michael Jackson short films) by releasing it on BluRay! If this doesn't happen now, It may never happen.

Its not about finding, one would say they probably know where is the film (if it exist). I guess its more of a legal/money problem. But i nor anyone here knows for sure

telling us its the only copy in existence is more of a lie though :p I'm confused as to what legal problems they would run into, as Bucharest was released and was a Nocturne prod. with the Dangerous tour so, the question we need answered is why does the estate have distribution or copyright issues with one of Michaels shows from the Bad tour, also a Nocturne Prod.???

They never said its the only one that exists.

and i dont wanna be like a few here that talk without having a clue and act as if they knew from fact, but since Michael used Bucarest in 1992 maybe thats how he ended with the option to re release..bah idek lol

The product info says "This footage was only recently unearthed and is the only known copy of the show to exist"

i dont know either thats why we are asking these questions, if Bucharest is distributed without any problems there should be no clear copyright or distribution issues with the Bad tour, its his performance why can't the estate release it? doesnt add up

Exactly! Not to mention that Bucharest had footage from more than one show... so go figure.

the version of DWT released on DVD is just the edited version of the HBO version, so it was easy to clear and easily reachable sourcewise.

We need more voices. Please reach out to your friends and family to sign the petition. Post this on Facebook or Twitter.

I've heard something about making a topic trending on twitter. I don't have the knowledge about this, can someone help me?

A video trailer would also make people care more. Please help me out all!

One thing many of you seem to be forgetting, or simply just don't know is...Michael sold the rights to the Bucharest '92 show for a whopping sum (which escapes me presently) many years ago, possibly, to the BBC.
I've just got home from work and if I wasn't so lazy, A simple Google search will reveal what I'm on about!

As far as an L.A '89 release goes, I've been touting this for years on the forums! Even back in like, 2006 when Birchey and others from the original MJUK forum invaded MJNO and here, attempting to drum up support for a Wembley '88 release, I stood firm and supported an L.A release.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am super excited that we are finally getting a Bad Tour '88 official release, I just feel that the only reason the Wembley '88 campaign took off the way it did, was due to English fans wanting a concert from their country released, not based on performance, but due to it's location.

There are differences between the Mid '88 run of Bad Tour shows and the late '88/early '89 shows. Firstly, the Billie Jean breakdown at the end of the song was much shorter during the Wembley shows.
MJ added more moves towards the end of the Tour. Secondly, L.A '89 was indeed filmed by many cameras and professionally recorded and mixed with the intent of a proper home release.
During the L.A '89 shows, many songs featured new elements added, such as new effects and sounds, such as Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'...to name but one.

Also, and this is personal opinion, I feel MJ looked f*cken awesome in the '89 footages! A cool mix of Bad and Dangerous era's!
In the snippets we have available, Mike looks energetic and excited too. The amateur audio we have from one of the shows totally reeks of high-octane coolosity too!

All in all, The Bad Wembley disc is going to be amazing! I just feel a better choice could have been made...with a ready made filmed product sitting somewhere collecting dust.
