New Bad Tour Wembley Trailer! [Discussion merged]

Am I the only one who keeps checking daily at amazon and itunes to see if they samples of songs are available to preview??

Re: New Bad Tour Wembley Trailer!

Good that shows the usa commercial footageof this part is not sourced the wembley Vhs but from APOM vision footage to us for BAD 25 promo.

Just want to state one more time the footage used for this trailer is not an indication of the final quality we well recieved on the DVD. Put this on BIG screen - then tell me this is what MJ dancers Band members and coreographers watched and stated was very good clear quality. This is not the final DVD quality

Now you can be sceptical if you want -that's your perogotive but dont expect us to have to feel the sameway as you as you. Most of us are wanting to celebrate an enjoy this release and the DVD :) we dont expect Blue ray or even HD quality. Until we see the final product we are going to enjoy celebrating and ushering in BAD25 - Now if it turns out a bust - then you are welcome to come back and say I told ya so. But most of us have realistic expectations of what to expect from this VHS ...
Do you ?

I'd be less sceptic if they'd release the OFFICIAL TRAILER. As some properly noticed, it's only a TV spot and in fact we don't know whether it is or it's not after restoration. If you say that band members and dancers said the quality is good then let's say I can believe you. But I won't change my mind till I see the final product.

I didn't say I'm not excited about this release. I, exactly like most of us, have been waiting for this for years. I am excited. But more about the audio multitracks and to see the whole 2nd leg BWT show. I'm just disappointed with what I saw on the spot. And that's why I try to open eyes of most fans here, even though I respect their opinions, cuz there is much better stuff available. Some, that are like more into all the video stuff, know more about the possibly available things understand me, some not. And that's why I'm asking: why not MSG '88?! :(

There's prolly not gonna be a trailer. That ad was prolly it.

Audio isn't unusable, nor terrible. Just not capable to be remixed with multi tracks (see Tokyo, Rome, LA clips).
Fans wanted Wembley, not necessarily the 16th.
The LA show exists in full somewhere. The 12 minute clip was sourced from that.

The official statement says that a majority of the concerts that they DO have contain unusable audio. Wembley was praised for being one of Michael's best performances (mainly the 16th because of the attendance of Prince Charles and Princess Diana) so it only makes sense that the 16th would be released. And again with the LA show. According to an email I read (could be real, could be fake) the 12-minute LA footage was given to news stations to use in reports. Npte that it was never said WHEN the footage was given. It could have been sent out back in 1990 for all we know. And once more, just because LA samples exist doesn't mean the Estate knows where they are. We have a great quality version of the Wembley performance of APOM (for the music video), but it doesn't mean that the Estate has the final masters, does it?

that's why I'm asking: why not MSG '88?! :(

There are three possible reasons for this:
1.) The Estate does not have any MSG footage available.
2.) The concert has unusable audio suitable for release.
3.) Fans asked specifically for Wembley.

If you re-read the statement you'll see that all of these are total possibilities. We are getting a complete show with no editing and pristine audio, which is something incredible. Te quality isn't amazing, but it's what we're getting.

Why not LA? Why not Atlanta? Why not Rome? Fans have been campaigning for Wembley for YEARS. The people who have only just become fans surely don't grasp this. This is amazing. Back in the day, we didn't have YT, when something was on TV, you had to record it or else you couldn't watch it again for years. I've got VHS' of almost all of MJ's performances, and my MTV '95 performance looks so much worse than this! VHS' deteriorated so bad over the years, including audio. This is one of the best looking VHS tapes I've ever seen.

I think that is one of the main reasons why the wembley concert was picked cuz it seems to be very popular with mj fans

am I the only one that noticed that the smooth criminal bassline sounds EXACTLY like the album version?
it sounds different in the snippet that birchey gave us.

we are getting Wembley because we asked for it. John Branca confirmed it in his TIME interview last week

Branca: We’ve been in the process of digitizing all of Michael’s archives of audiovisual and written material. We monitor the fans and we’re in dialogue and communication with them, and one of the Wembley stadium concerts is the one that the fans really wanted, so we were searching for that concert and fortunately we found this…

i cant stop watching! Im geeked! That spin! (i guess i'm the only one who prefers mitm with the bad jacket vs the twymmf outfit lol)

I think it looks great... for a 25 year old VHS and a 480p Youtube clip.

I'm quite sure it'll look much better on the DVD.

Here's something that i've been wondering. Why did so many fans ask for Wembley in the first place? I'm not complaining that we're getting Wembley, infact any Bad Tour concert from 1988/1989 is great but i'm just curious. Why Wembley?

Probably because for many artists, when they play Wembley Stadium they know they've reached the pinnacle. It has always been an iconic venue for live concerts. Mike not only played Wembley, he played it 7 times over the course of one summer. A phenomenal achievement. No other artist has done that. Mike has also played Wembley 15 times over the course of his career - more than any other artist.

I'm ok if they decide to release Wembley... because the fans indeed asked for it, and it's a mythic concert after all. But I think we are entitled to expect that they release it in the very best conditions. If they have to work on such a poor source, I expect they will try by all means to restore it the best way. But I'm afraid that the work done will not be equal to their promises (and I have good reasons to think so..), but I'll wait for the DVD to judge it.

However, I'm still wondering something...

- We are talking of the Bad Tour, one of the biggest world tour ever, right?
- We are talking about a concert that was held in front of the Royal Family, in the famous Wembley stadium full of 72 000 spectators, right?
- We are talking about a legend of the music whose habit was to film and record everything including his own rehearsals, right?

Now, the only trace of this concert is a poor VHS??

I understand where your coming from, but MJ was so messy it wouldn't be hard for things to go missing! :p

Not unusable. I highly doubt that. Un-remix-able is all it is. I'm sure it sounds decent, but in their eyes (or ears) they didn't want decent audio.

And you're being silly. Of course they have the full show of L.A. The 12 minute clip just released was a tape given to tv station(s) to use in their news reports. The site in which it was just unearthed from has said tape (not the full show, which is presumably in storage by the estate).
(and i just saw old clips on YT of LA news report with stuff from this 12 minute tape as well, so its that old).

So yeah, big DUH on that site not having the full show, but the estate has these shows in full.

I always found it funny that a guy who is notoriously private, seemed to have everything he does video taped. Not just work related, either.
All the home movies were shot by what was probably an employee. A personal videographer, if you will (rather than a family member or friend).

Even at home, he always had a camera man around :D

Although I do agree with mjmax, I also agree with this statement...It's SO true....I've seen pictures of his room, books, DVDs, tapes, etc, just PILED and PILED and messy everywhere...:lmao:

Epic trailer! MJ's on fire! finally september and 13 days left!

Once again, you're assuming that the Estate has more than they actually have. Again, the words "unusable audio" come to mind this could mean multiple things: the audio has too much noise to e remastered, audio is missing, etc. I've had people work with Betamax, u-matic and VHS from the early 80s before, only to find that the audio would go dead silent at times in the video where it shouldn't. The only solution would be to overdub the video with another concerts audio, which would piss me off incredibly.

Like its been said, just because a 12-minute news sampler leaked does not mean that the Estate has the full concert. As they said, storage at the time was sporadic and they could've lost dozens of concerts.

You seem to be living in a fantasy world where the Eatate has total access to everything.

MJ was a child at heart, he wasnt the most organized person in the world but im almost positive someone had taken some of his umatic tapes during the police raids, either that or destroyed. And if someone for whatever reason decides to just someday come out of no where with the original umatic tapes of the Wembley shows, they wouldnt be making any money, they would go straight to jail. So at this point this VHS copy is all we got (according to the estate) Im going to appreciate it as much as i possibly can. And ive heard somewhere that it was meant for the fans to share with each other... maybe Sony left the quality the way it is on purpose because theyve seen how much we like editing and uploading MJ videos, and maybe this DVD is gonna be completely copyright free just for us :)

The reason fans wanted it for so long is this is the Killer show, everyone who's been there says it was his best. All the news reports and reviews were the best, he had the biggest crowd here, his performance is supposed to be on fire. This is supposed to be the pinnacle of MJ performances. It is going to be an incredible show.

I feel like other people in this thread sometimes forgot about the show itself. A video is just a way to experience a recording of an event, no matter what the quality is it will not change his performance. This is the show everyone has been dying to see, when people who were being all nitpicky put in this DVD they will realize how entertaining the show is.

Also, to those who are dissapointed with the youtube stuff and the coloring, this is a commercial that is going to have different saturation and compression than what we will see in the final version. Even HIStory on film and Vision always, always, despite any complaints look waaay better than any of the official youtube videos. You can not judge streaming video/audio and say it is the same as a final release. Even 1080p Moonwalker videos I've seen on youtube look and sound nowhere near as good as watching the actual Bluray, and my PC and Bluray player are hooked into the same TV set.

I remember hearing once that alot of genuis people are very messy and unorganized

There will probably be more versions around.......

......But remastering takes time.......and I don't want to wait any longer for this release!!!!

The younger generation need to see Michael at his best..........

And besides.......brilliance doesn't need HD.......remember watching old films before remastering!!!!

After this release, they can take as long as they want to make a proper remastered HD version on Blu Ray!!!!
