Re: BAD 25: What about the Original Tracks?

its the 2001 special edition master.
its not a new remaster.

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

WOW WOW WOW Just finished my first watch and I'm a little speachless. A little overwehlemed. Ok a lot overwehlemed. My emotion are running eveywhere. I loved seeing him so happy on the stage. The same reason why I can't watch the This is It dvd is why I can watch this concert.

I loved the little routine with Gregg. So funny. Loved his many smiles, his dancing, his singing. Billie Jean is always one of my favourites. Man in the Mirror was magic (that wasn't sung live right?)
But on the other side I started feeling this pain again. Listening to his music is fine, but watching this concert kinda hit home again. Anyone else had that?

But I'm really gratefull it was released.

Re: BAD 25 Demo's unreleased, unheard Studio songs Discussion [previews added]

Have you guys not yet noticed they changed the mixing on some songs on Disc 1 (e.g. "Just Good Friends")? It sounds better now, IMO. Most songs sound the same but the new master contains a few mixing changes for some songs. They did the same for "Fly Away".

master issues on "Je ne veux pas la fin de nous"

Re: BAD 25 Demo's unreleased, unheard Studio songs Discussion [previews added]

I have not listen to the album yet. I just know that the "original album" is not in its original form. but it was clear that its going to be the re-worked versions.
thx fot mentioning, will check them.

Re: BAD 25 Demo's unreleased, unheard Studio songs Discussion [previews added]

Yeah, the original album mixes have never been used again for any international release, just on some Japanese pressings and some other country I can't remember right now.
The mixes are the 1988 edits.

The mixing of "Fly Away" has also been enhanced. It sounds even better now, listen to the very last seconds e.g., you can now hear Michael's vocals there. They didn't just turn up the volume, they did some proper mixing.

Do you mean his ad libs that fade away that we can hear clearly in Rebbie's version?

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

Finally I've just finish to watch the dvd!! the performance is the most incredible i have ever seen!! I am speechless really!! Mike was really incredible, the musicians too, all was perfect!! today my dream became reality! and the quality is good even if is'nt HD but it's ok

Re: BAD 25 Demo's unreleased, unheard Studio songs Discussion [previews added]

Only until 3:41 when compared to the version on Rebbie's album, the few ad-libs there after remain exclusive to her album.

Re: BAD 25 Demo's unreleased, unheard Studio songs Discussion [previews added]

I must say i don't mind the 88 edits. I have the original cd.

"Fly away" fades longer here.
JGF, hmm. I must say I hear more hiss noise now, then on the SE. listen to the intro.

when i got the cd yesterday, i just compared one song to the SE, don't remember which one. I notice there is slightly change. Slightly louder again and the heights.

But the Fly way change is more interesiting then the changes in the sounding.

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

oh good i want see it now

Re: BAD 25: What about the Original Tracks?

I've quickly listened and compared some songs 2001 vs. 2012 - they're differently re-mastered!!!
both seem to use the same source but both went through different mastering steps. all 2012 songs (compared with the 2001 ones) have much less clipping effects

Re: BAD 25: What about the Original Tracks?

Wrong mjchris,

there are difference, hear fly away or other songs. Its much better.

Re: BAD 25 Demo's unreleased, unheard Studio songs Discussion [previews added]

If you hear hiss there, it's your equipment as I've checked this with in-ear earphones and there's no hiss on the WAVE files (except "Je ne veux pas la fin de nous" which was restored from a Vinyl transfer).
Hearing hiss is a sign of overdriving, either software based or the equipment you have isn't set up optimally.

Even though i said i prefer Smooth Criminal big time over Al Capone and that it's not my favorite Bad 25 song so far (Price of Fame is) i DO have to admit that the song has been stuck in my head all day, i keep humming the beat all day, lol. It's a great song though. Someone posted some information about that this is Chaka Khan's song, but i don't know if it was in this thread. I'd like to read that info again though...anyone has it? :)

^ Not sure what you are talking about man :)

I see that alot of people absolutely love Al Capone, and sure it's a nice song and very catchy..but come on, better than Smooth Criminal? SC is timeless, i never tire of it, just like Billie Jean. But AC really reminds me of that Chaka Khan song Ain't Nobody. What is the reason some of you place it above SC?

Re: BAD 25: What about the Original Tracks?

Yes, as I said in another BAD 25 thread here (there are too many, lol), it's a new remaster and this time it's really great. Most tracks sound the same but "Just Good Friends", "Liberian Girl", "Speed Demon" and "Fly Away" are really an improvement.

Vinyl does not have anything to do with quality or master. The original 1987 master is also available on CD, the 2001 remaster is also available on Vinyl. The "Vinyl = better quality" is an urban legend. An audiophile master on CD always kills any Vinyl in terms of sonic perfection and sound quality. The 2001 remaster was a pure loudness master, this 2012 remaster here is more audiophile.

Re: BAD 25 Demo's unreleased, unheard Studio songs Discussion [previews added]

I think why so many love it and puts it above SC is because it is new. Dont get me wrong, i love al capone but in no way is it better than SC. Smooth criminal is a masterpiece. Its like a movie, a beginning a middle and an end. Al Capone sounds very 80's and im sure mj was well aware of that. Just like the billie jean demo, it sounded very dated and mj always knew what he wanted.

Ive even seen people go so far as to call it their favourite number 1 song. Wow, so you think an old unfinished demo is better than all the released songs michael spent years perfecting?.. :D

Yeah i agree, give it a couple of months, and everyone will realize smooth criminal is in another league that hasn't already. I remember the first time i sat down to Billie Jean, and it blew me away to a level no other uptempo song has ever come close to, i just thought i was listening to the catchiest thing possible for humans to ever create, i actually got emotional, because i couldn't understand how it was possible to create such an insanely infectious song, it remains the only dance track to this day that's made me emotional, because it's so good. Similar story with SC, but not quite to that level. But Al Capone is infectious too, but the feeling it gave me isn't close to back then. Don't compare AC with that worn out 10,000 times played round your mind SC, cast your mind back that first time you heard SC, and how it made you feel. Don't get me wrong it's awesome if people are digging Al Capone, i love it too, but try and think before toppling the almighty SC, remember MJ will have thought it was loads better than AC, and right for Bad, and he had the advantage of hearing them both fresh to him.

Totally agree with this....I was saying before that I thought Al Capone was better, but yeah, I attribute this now to it being a song of MJ's we haven't heard before, the excitement is still fresh and new....

But then I listened to Smooth Criminal today after not listening to it for a while, and of course, it's so classic, so amazing, so timeless....Can't compare it to a demo, even though Al Capone is really infectious and a fantastic song....

I love what you said about Billie Jean...I get the same feeling...Sometimes, just in general, even watching him perform, sing, dance, etc....I, too, get emotional simply because of the fact that he was so out of this world talented....Nobody will ever reach his monster-genius ....Now I'm getting emotional lol

understand what u mean.
i didnt listen to the tracks. also dont have the cd. i only quoted what was allready said here in the forum.
but now when i only listen to a "poor" compresed file of fly away, i can hear a difference. waiting for my box set.

Re: BAD 25 Demo's unreleased, unheard Studio songs Discussion [previews added]

The thing I'm most happy with is the fact that the songs sound untouched, like they came straight out of the vaults.

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

It's been about an hour since I watched the concert, and it is INCREDIBLE, but for completely different reasons than I was expecting. I think performance wise, he's done as good on The Dangerous Tour but what really comes through in this show is a powerful and compelling side to him that we've needed to see since 2009. Theirs a joy to his performance that pours through him and overall I think this is a very soulful performance. I just feel in awe of the man. This concert is all Michael without the gimmicks and spectacle. Raw and soulful.

Man in the Mirror was magic (that wasn't sung live right?)

It's playback until towards the end. It gets kinda obvious when he gets back to singing live.

Re: BAD 25 Demo's unreleased, unheard Studio songs Discussion [previews added]

Are the tapes lost?

Apparently Michael hated the French recording so much that he ordered all copies of them destroyed. That's why there is not a single CD-quality copy available online. I don't know where the Estate got this though.

Re: BAD 25: What about the Original Tracks?

I've compared the Bad 1987 CD with Bad 2001 special edition CD and the Bad 25 remaster. I prefer the original CD! The arrangement It's soooo much better!! But the Bad 25 remaster sounds sonically better, it just doesn't have the original horns!
