Xscape General Discussion

Also interestingly, Reid told us later on that he was unaware that six out of the eight tracks had previously been leaked, and that the song list had already been chosen when this information was brought to his attention.

No disrespect to L.A. Reid - whom I respect immensely - I simply do not believe that.

With Lovin' You, there are two songs written by Michael exclusively. As per Damien Shields below:

With Blank’s statements in mind I set out on trying to confirm the origins of “Lovin’ You”. Here’s what I found:

Michael Jackson wrote and recorded the track in the mid-80s before bringing the multi-track tapes to his trusted engineer, Matt Forger, to mix.

“One day MJ came into the Hayvenhurst Studio and asked me to mix it and gave me the multi-track,” recalled Forger. “He did the song at another studio. He just brought me the tape to mix,” he continued, adding that it was likely John Barnes who played on it. “He worked with him a lot in that era.”

Forger told me that the track is vocally complete, which fits with L.A. Reid’s strict terms and conditions of only including songs that Jackson recorded complete, multi-track vocals for.

“I remember it as an RnB style, mid-tempo love song,” said Forger, which matches perfectly with the descriptions of journalists and fans who’ve heard it. “It was a good song, just not in serious consideration for the BAD album. One of many that were recorded and put away.”

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I was wrong with the recording date? Oh... this is awkward.

There is a song called Loving You that was worked on with Brad Buxer. Either (a) Matt Forger misspoke and gave the wrong recording date, (b) there's an entirely different song with the same title, or (c) Michael brought that song out with Brad after Bad dropped.

Assuming he's right, I'm thrilled to have a new Bad outtake.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

We are told there are more surprises tucked into the Deluxe version!?? Although we heard eight songs we are told there is still yet another song... a 9th which will be a total surprise to the entire world along with several other surprises in the Deluxe version, as well as, two videos of all the producers speaking about the heartfelt process of making this album and their journey with Michael in this process.

I do not think so. We are all learning; I know I am. Who knew waiting for Xscape would involve learning? Not too many cd releases offer that. laughs

Estate/Sony: I fully expect to hear LNFSG this week!

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Ok guys, stop posting, because I'm going to sleep now and I won't have time to scroll through your posts when I wake up. As soon as I wake up you can of course continue posting.

Good night.

p.s. If the album is released in the meantime you can wake me up.

I feel the same way when it comes to this thread. Oh oops...I just posted lol.

It was a nice article from MJBliss .
I just wonder about this
Any true MJ fan has been listening to leaked versions of songs for years now..

Am I an untrue fan because I don´t want to listen to leaks?

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I've always thought Navi is hispanic but it seems he's black.
so LNFSG(an 80s song produced by unknown producer) will be the first single? :ermm:
in such case, the album won't sell more than 50k in its first week.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

You never heard LNFSG in its new version so I think you're not in position to make sales predictions

How much do you want to bet me?

The 'loser' can give the money to the mjjcommunity fund.

I'll start at 100 pounds, if you like, but you can make it more. :big_boss:

Are you this negative outside of this forum?

All I care about is getting some great MJ music and it sounds like that's what we're getting. Good times!

Behind the mask and LNFSG are both recorded in the early 80s and they have the same producer.
BTM flops, what makes you think LNFSG will be any better?

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

It's funny that nobody who has heard the album mentions LNFSG doesn't fit the rest of the songs or is weak but people who haven't heard it do. I think it's clear by now that the songs do not sound like the leaked versions so we can't judge until we hear them.

Seriously man,

Look further, look at the now, look at the future instead of looking back all the time.

Wait this one out and judge this album after it's release please. Don't spoil all the fun on this board.

If it had a proper video it would've been cool.

It's the fav song of the album for many fans. ;)

PYT and Billie Jean are both from the same producer and recorded in same year. Billie Jean reached 1# in most countires. PYT didn't make it to the top 10 in most of them. SO? What does BTM's so called flop have anything to do with LNFSG success?

(I can already see how you're gonna miss my point here - again - and start complaining I compare Thriller to Xscape. Or the producer in question to QJ. I really don't.)

The point is you haven't heard the new version LNFSG and you're being negative while people who heard it are extremly positive about it - which was surprising to me but I'm not gonna predict sales (or failures) based on my lack of knowledge and I am actually curious about what they did with the song to make people so excited about it. BTM has NOTHING to do with it.

The more I read fans reviews, the more I get exited:wild:

I'm totally green with envy for fans who got the chance to go that listening party, but not jealous and I'm happy for them. Seemingly all the fans invited were impressed, and if fans are impressed, I'm sure when the album drops out, the reviews are going to be good.

"I’m so happy to meet Mickie Qbee, a fun loving lady who is staff on MJJ Community."

Haa Qbee, spill the beans? What did you think of it?

"Karen shares with us a gem was found in Michael’s own notes as they discovered Michael's inspiration behind “Do You Know Where Your Children Are?” In the '60s through the '90s there was a TV campaign for child safety that would come on TV each evening asking parents everywhere this very question. Only Michael could take a TV safety campaign and turn it into genius, rhythmic music and song writing. Soooo Michael... soooo freaking amazing!

"

So that is confirmed now.

I liked the story of how they found the artist who did the artwork for Xscape.

"two videos of all the producers speaking about the heartfelt process of making this album and their journey with Michael in this process."

I didn't have any expectations set for what those videos are going to be so I don't mind and not going to be upset. I actually like their idea.
I hope they talk about MJ for at least 4 hours:)

I seriously cannot wait for the album and the hoopla that comes with it:clapping:

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Out of all the songs and they picked LNFSG which has previously been released by another singer? You may like their choice but i don't. Plus, I think those fans in the listening party like it because they feel nostalgia(most of them are in their 40s 50s). They said it's reminiscent of the early 80s MJ so yeah that's why they like it.

Remember some reporters said it's one of the weakest songs in the album so I see it as a very poor choice for 1st single. But I'll stop commenting more about it cause i dont want to be a fun spoiler. :ermm: :eek:ldsmile:

Behind The Maks was also released. Come Together was also a cover. What's your point?

I don't really remember the reviews saying it was the weakest song. If anything it surprised me how positive the reviews generally were about this song because I too felt it shouldn't be the lead single (or a single at all), being the mid-tempo song it is. But since reviews said it was a dance floor filler and Off The Wall-esque I became more than curious. It's obvious it will be very different to the demo. (By the way, I'm one of those people who also love the demo.)

As for the nostalgia factor, have you looked at the charts recently? Everyone and their mother try to sound early 80s disco now or Off The Wall-esque. This is a hip trend now. So not only 40-50 year old MJ fans may be interested in such a sound.

But it's clear you want to be negative about everything just for the sake of it. You only will ruin your own experience with this attitude though. Have fun with that.

I hope there are no crying ,mentions of ill fated concerts , Michael´s death.
Then I can´t watch it.
I can take it if they speak about Michael isn´t here , they miss him. he´s with them in spirit

I always skip the beginning of This is it because of the crying dancers...

Ok, I woke up. Can someone summerize the last 10 pages in 9 pages? And while you are in the summerizing mood, it would be helpful if you could summerize the whole 465 pages into around 325 pages. Thanks for your cooperation.

I have a feeling that if we were here in Off The Wall Era and they told us DONT STOP TIL YOU GET ENOUGH was the lead single you would still find something to complain about because no matter what people say to argue your unbased negativity you reach to the point you got nothing to support your latest complaint, you just bring another one up.

You complain about the lack of hype - while there's no actual album nor single out. Who does that? The media showed quite an interest in what we -do- have. Do you actually want them to repeat nonstop on the release date? that's... not gonna happen.

Moving on
First LNFSG (which you never heard finished) is not good enough
Then BTM is not good enough so LNFSG must be bad too - uh?
Then it's not good enough because it's already released by someone else - which isn't that known and you actually have to dig the hell of google to find the original. Gone Too Soon, Girlfriend are covers and most people are unaware MJ is not the original singer - same goes with BTM and TII. Have you ever heard the original version of Blame It On The Boogie on the radio? 1st single released less than a year after the original by Mick Jackson was released.

To top that you're saying the people who heard the song are just being nostalgic and dismiss their positive reviews just by that. Sorry but you still haven't heard the song to make any kind of judgement on the people who did hear it. You don't know those people who heard and you can't terll if they're nostalgic people or not. Unlike you, those reporters who didn't like it actually heard it. Each has his own taste. Personally I never thought of LNFSG as a potentially first single or a "floor filler". But for now I'm not going to say it's a bad idea simply because I don't know how it sounds now.

It's not that you're a fun spolier, it's that you never thought of this project as fun to begin with.

I agree with all the above.

I was very interested (and pleased) to see that it was John Branca who brought MBW in for some of the artwork. I was lucky to meet MBW at his London exhibition in 2012, and he very kindly signed one of his 'Michael' prints for me. He really does love Michael! I thanked him for all his MJ art and asked if he would be creating any more...... I am so glad that he has been given this opportunity to be connected to the Xscape album in this way.

(and MBW is a very nice guy...There was an immense queue to get in to the exhibition before it opened on the first day, and before the doors opened he came out and walked along the whole length of the queue , greeting and shaking hands with everyone).
