Xscape General Discussion

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

A lot of people are talking about the producers should have stuck to Michael's vision, I don't believe he had completed vision for these songs, if he had he would have released them. If he had released these tracks now I believe they would be anything like the demos. The truth is if he had been making an album now there would have probably done the album with Timberland anyway, so the songs may have sound like the remixes anyway

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Listening to the original version of Blue Gangsta, it's better than the remix. Love the James Bond horns.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

The mastering by Bernie Grundman captures the raw studio magic, the album is on another level with these sound productions. New mixes have pleasantly shocked me.. didn't expect them to sound so good! I keep saying this but it really is a masterpiece.

Your comments makes me more insist to get this album

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Listening to the the original version of Xscape, quite like it but the remix fits better in remixed album. Sound a bit dated. It would have been good if the remix had some more of the originals features

I Stevie Wonder if Shave To The Rhythm was inspired by Shaves Braun

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Okay, let me be perfectly clear. Odedia is my demo wife, but that is different to my contemporised wife who has been updated and if listened to correctly occasionally sounds like ducks.

Sometimes I prefer my demo wife but also enjoy the contemporised version, even though its not exactly the version I had in mind when I got married. Neither is better than the other and its just a matter of taste.

I hope you understand.

I knew you don't love me anymore!

If you don't love me, you don't love me
If you don't love me, you don't love me
If you don't love me, you don't love me, ahhhhhhhhh

I'm just glad the people who put the 'Michael' album didn't get near any of these songs

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

It's so great to see Michael being appreciated and celebrated. It just makes me miss him more.

i thoroughly enjoyed Xscape very much, that album will never get old... no matter how much time passes. The production, The Vocals, the energy, everything... Perfect. Night all

Xscape is so good it deserves to be a single. Seriously

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Sometimes I wonder if people are here for MJ or just to criticize either other fans or MJ's new releases. It is as if I went to another singer's forum and constantly spread negativity about his songs. I'd start question how much fan actually I am, and as SmoothMJ said, if some don't love post 2009 releases, well there are releases from before 2009.

Actually I noticed that fans started criticizing MJ even when he was alive. Throughout years and decades MJ was an innovator. He did songs such as 2000 Watts and SHOUT. I absolutely loved how he brought that sound alive, but when I read the reaction from some fans about such songs, I see the same negativity with the newly released Xscape's new versions.

All I am saying, if you are not happy with MJ's innovative process, then go back to J5 and Jump For Hoy era, they are also nice songs, just not contemporary. And it would be much better than coming here and throwing up on everything newly released.

You're really missing he point. IT'S NOT MJ. Our beloved artist passed away. We have a bunch of producers doing their own thing with his wonderful work.

In case you didn't notice, almost all those who "criticize"' the remixes also love the demos. I ADORE BG, XSCAPE AND STTR (leaked version, more than earlier demo on the CD). I don't like most remixes and think they don't do justice to the originals. How is that in any way criticizing MJ? It's the other way around! I think MJ wouldn't like some of those tracks as well.

We have a right to discuss what we love and don't love about how a bunch of people present the legacy of our hero to the public in 2014.

Make your voice heard too, don't silence the rest of us.

P.S. My favorite album is HIStory, followed by Invincible.

Chicago Original reminds me of 2pac's Last One Breathe instrumental. Listen to the resemblance.

Give me a break. You can disagree without getting offensive.

If you like what is on the second part of the CD (the demos), congratulations, you have them. Enjoy them. Sony didn't have to give you the originals, remastered too, but they did. Appreciate that, and let people who enjoy the new versions, enjoy them.

Also, since the majority of people are enjoying this album, it is YOU. Only you. You are the minority here.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

My faves (contemporized songs) in order are:

1. DYKWYCA (WHHHAAATTTT!?!?!?!?)
2. Chicago ("Contemporize the Original" accomplished)
3. Loving You ("Contemporize the Original" accomplished)
4. Xscape (Awesome Remix, but doesn't stand a chance against the Original)
5. Love Never Felt So Good (My Summer-feel-good-Song)
6. Slave to the Rhythm (Neither the Timbo-Production, Trickys 2010 Mix or the Original Produtction can match MJ's Vocals. He sounds just too good on this one, compared to any of the known Versions of this Song.)
7. A Place with No Name (Perfect Remix! Perfect B-Side! Not an MJ Album Candidate IMO, sorry.)
8. Blue Gangsta (The Original Recording is just too perfect and complete. Timbos Version doesn't stand a chance IMO. Also I think its sonicly (and production-wise) too close to Timbos "Slave to the Rhythm".

But overall I love the concept and the result of Xscape!! The Promotion is great so far and it's actually more than I was hoping for. I love it!

Sounds about right to me, except I'd put DYKWYCA last :)

Sharing my opinion is not being offensive, but ok.*

Yes, they did give us the demos. And I do enjoy them. I never said I didn't. And those who enjoy the new tracks-GREAT!! So happy for you. I enjoy some of them too, just like I wrote.

This ends here. This negativity is not contributing to anyone.

Remember guys, buy as many copies you can (for friends and family, cars, work, gifts, for personal sealed collection) during the first week of sales. The first week is the most important in today's music and also because Coldplay album is coming next week. So this week is our chance, it's Michael's time to shine. Also don't forget to ask for receipt for each copy you buy (buy them separately).

Confirmation of the hologram by Billboard Brazil today. They deleted the post, but I got a print of it.

"Will have performance! Michael Jackson appears in hologram form, on stage at the Billboard Music Awards. The presentation promises to make history." More or less.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

After listening to this album about 20 times, I can say this.

I am absolutely in love with the new mixes. This album stands up as a true Michael Jackson album, despite Michael not being here to complete it. I think MJ is probably up in heaven, looking down and smiling. This is everything that the last album wasn't, and there is so much...goodness, here.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I'm actually GLAD that the producers didn't go into this trying to guess what MJ would have wanted and trying to finish the songs as he would. That is impossible without MJ here. One of the things I hated with the 'Michael' album is that they advertised it like it was close to the album Michael would have came out with if he were still alive when nothing could have been further from the truth. When people think they can "finish off" Michael's work without him here, to me it's just disrespectful. I'd much rather something like they did here where they just say... "ok, MJ is not here anymore. I'm not going to pretend I know what MJ would have wanted done here. I'm just going to remix the songs however I want to and give you Michael's original demo's as well." To me that makes it clear that they are making a remix album and not trying to make another "studio album". Which makes it more of a producers album featuring MJ when it comes down to it. Which is why I don't get stressed by the remixes. I know they aren't Michael's work. They are simply remixes and should be treated as such.

There can never be another Off The Wall, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, HIStory or Invincible. Michael's last studio album was Invincible. It wasn't 'Michael' and it isn't 'Xscape'. I prefer that they don't try to pretend otherwise. The remixes I can take or leave, but I understand different fans have different desires for "success" for MJ is the current day. Personally, I'm all for MJ's art and nothing else. As long as they keep putting out work as Michael left it, I'm gooooood.

Nicely put, and I actually tent to agree with you to an extent. Disney was failing for years because they kept thinking "what would Walt do" after his death. Steve jobs kept telling people to never ask what he would do after he's gone.

My only gripe is that they don't market it as a remix album, but then again why would you want to buy something that is marketed like that?

I think I should try to let the remixes have time to grow on me.

God, I miss Michael on times like this...

Of course not. Remix albums are almost always aimed at the fanbase of the artist and The Estate/Sony would be hoping that this album draws in new fans; young and old :)
