For any fans interested I've asked Robin Leach to clear up his comments bout the so called new footage. I'll let you know if he answers back

The medium is the message, the publicity is all they were looking for, not any particular result of the product itself. I believe they have succeeded as many mainstream outlets are reporting this and the live crowd reaction (which was amazing, compared to the TV viewer reaction).

There are plenty of posts for you people who like Michael Jackson but hate everything post 2009. Go play there.

Except.....I've stated countless times that I like the album, and you have read those posts and replied to them.

Ah. Perhaps you have to be logged in?

It's quoted on my post anyway.
Which one of your posts is that perhaps you could tell us what page as I would like to know what that post we can't access said

So as far as we know, this was performed using the Peppers Ghost illusion? same as Tupac? Interested to see if we can figure it out fully. My guess

Video shot on set, possible greenscreen etc MJ head CGI, Body Double, All dancers on stage are pre-rendered in the illusion. Effects added in post prodcution, video rendered and projected 2d using the Peppers Ghost illusion?

No that was not Michael's body . That was evident to me. but was close. They cant use MJ footage to create this, they use a live model for the CGI Image for holograms. Michael never danced in that costume or sang that song. . I think you may misunderstand the technology. They have too use a model to dance. then they can try to project his facial image to make it look more like MJ and they could have used a dancer that is closer to how MJ walked and would execute the moves. That is something they need to perfect. BUT ... what they did on that stage with the MJ image created with the model was amazing . it looked like he was really dancing on the stage. The setting he was in ws beautiful. and the production was beautiful . This has Never been done before .. So in that respect it was historical and Awesome. Now they just need to perfect the image to look and dance more like MJ ... I dont get all the anger and hated from some though . I thought it was beautiful to watch . and did somewhat look like MJ .. Im sure even more so watching it live because it was not meant for the screen .

To me it looks like a computer generated Michael, I'm not sure what else can be expected. (Are you sure that's not his chest)? But anyway I would sure like to meet the person that body belongs to. ;D

Thank you for that. It was his comments and teasers is what lead to some high expectations and actual footage of Michael being used, in the first place.

It will be interesting to see if he answers. I highly doubt he will though.

No you don't he has no head, they removed it for Michaels CGI head

Did someone see GMA?

GMA / ABC News: "Not a hologram, not an impersonator"

I dug it personally. I went into it with pretty much no expectations other than OBVIOUSLY it wasn't gonna be perfect. How could it have been a DEAD ON FROM NOTHING holographic recreation? As I think another posted, while we have amazing technology now, we just aren't quite there yet. I think it is really cool that they are still making new BIG presentations featuring Michael (in one way or another), and I thought this was pretty well done, other than maybe the wavering video at the beginning.
I agree. But why was the scene moving? What was that? Some kind of projection screen? Or some tapestry wall?
I'd really be interested in how they made this regardless of the tribute actor. That's why "The making of" would be very nice. I'd even like to hear the impersonator's work regiment to get there and what was supposed to be the "unseen footage"? Was it just MJ sitting on his thrown? Wasn't there some photos of him like that (with the leg on the arm chair)?

Most importantly, this show should boost CD sales and keep new fans interested.

is anyone here thinking of michaels kids or are you blinded by $$$ (album promotions)????

personally if I saw a hologram of my dead sibling, I wouldn't be happy about it. i find it incredibly disturbing and inappropriate to use a hologram of someone that passed away under these circumstances MJ did (died while preparing for tour).

i feel bad for michaels kids that cant mourn, mj is laid to rest in forest lawn, but they are messing with peoples emotions by "putting mj onstage" at an award show. im not going to discuss whether the "performance" was good or not, I felt very disturbed watching the hologram and felt incredibly sad knowing what happened to MJ and that he is no longer here.

beyond all of these promotions he is somebodys father and son. dont forget that.

It wasn't a hologram.

Are they going to explain what it was then?

So far all I've got was it was some sort of video generated using an impersonator for his movements which didn't actually end up looking too much like him. Honestly, I would of been even satisfied with a better impersonation of his dancing.

For anyone who doesn't know already, the official MJ Vevo account posted the full HD performance with ALTERNATE CAMERA ANGLES (no crowd shots either)..

Check it out!

It's said the 'Father' was there. One of the brothers said he loved it.

So, if the children come out an say they loved it as well, we're all good.

perhaps not peppers ghost illusion. because that's what Alki David has the license for and in the current documents they stated that they aren't using that technology.

Assuming Alki David lawsuits against MJ Estate happens - with no settlement- in a year or two we would have all the details of both "holograms" (Cirque and Billboard) from the court documents.

If we accept the court documents as truth, we know that it's not a hologram - Estate called it "Virtual Michael" in the documents and it's not the same technology/trademark as Tupac Hologram/ Peppers Ghost. The company behind MJ is the same one that did Tupac one though.

Word to the wise, if our infraction system was in place (coming soon) a few would have copped 30 day bans today instead I have deleted the posts and this is your warning, certain names pop up that amount of times again I will be exercising this feature manually.

Remember our core principles "Be Respectful" thats all I ask which surely is not that hard.

My friend who is "a computer geek" says that what they are saying (the official story) might be true. He says it is possible to create the whole character (complete body and haed) using computer technology without using impersonator. Just like they are doing FIFA video games. They create the characters using the video they have of actual players and then they can control them making them doing whatever they want (moving their lips, dancing or running and scoring goals - FIFA).

So for now I believe in the official story and that is that there was no impersonator used and that it was not a hologram but virtual Michael (like video game).

It's funny. I had major expectations for the whole week because of the hype.
After reading some of the posts here through the day, i was back down on the ground & expected a catastrophe.

As i'm at home now, i just watched the performance several times & i was pleasantly surprised.
It's was really good. I say: Job well done - again! Thank's to all involved!

It was a great spectacle & historic tv moment.
Virtual MJ isn't REAL MJ - that's clear but i think they did a wonderful job.

Everyone of our fan experts who think they can do better, should just do it & get f***ing rich in the process.
We'll be there to judge your work then.

Smooth, i completely understand you, but don't get grey hair over it. "Some things will never change!"

Will this feature include a "neg" feature as well, instead of just the "rep" function?

Alright here goes again. I watched again (my second time)... I have to say that I have changed my mind.

I think we all expected a lot out of it, which we should... This is our MJ after all. But after watching it again I do see that the face is DEFINITELY CGI. But because it was badly modeled it looked like an impostor (impersonator). The dancing and especially the moonwalk weren't perfect but they could never have been unless they used Michael's past footage which I don't understand why they didn't just do that.

It was a good try, but I think it should have been better executed and planned. I still don't understand why they made MJ look so young. I mean that's not how he left us. So I don't understand why they didn't model it to look like a more recent MJ.

Anyway, it was a good try, but I don't think I would want to see anything like that happen again. I will stick to my short films and concert videos.

RIP MJ
