Most Popular Internet Videos Of 2014 Revealed

2. Michael Jackson Hologram at Billboard Music Awards
The Michael Jackson performance on the 2014 Billboard Music Awards wasn’t one of the most popular internet videos of 2014 for no good reason, it was the result of nearly half a year of planning, choreography and filming, not to mention the development of new technology. According to insiders, even the producers of the Billboard Music Awards did not see even a portion of the film until eight days before the broadcast.

Amazing, amazing performance and technology. :bow:Yet some fans (some) still weren't satisfied, but those certain fans will NEVER be satisfied.

Still waiting for that third single... As promised.

Agreed.

Despite my disappointment with some of the promotional choices, I still believe if MJ/Jerkins' Xscape is not released in an appropriate manner, it would be a mistake and a disservice to this project, Michael, and Jerkins.

Unfortunately I think it's safe to say that Xscape project is dead an we will never get the third single as promised....

Xscape is a great album, it has done well - but with good promotion and more singles released it could have done even better and more people would enjoy it.

Maybe the project is just "finished"... But we don't know. I'm hoping for Escape as 3th single!

Probably much ado about nothing but, I truly wish this meant Xscape, the third single.

I will put this news in this thread, as the chart-thread is now in the history section...

http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/sam-smith-heading-back-to-albums-top-spot-3398/

UK-Charts

Elsewhere, J Cole is on course to reach a new peak with 2014 Forest Hills Drive, which shifts from 76 to 19, Michael Jackson’s Xscape re-enters the Top 40 at 31, and Frank Sinatra’s Best of The Best moves up 48 places to Number 38.

Thanks, this is the Wednesday midweeks chart, right? The final chart comes out on Sunday.

Guys,

So your aware if the estate re ignite Xscape then I will bring back the separate forum, as all threads but this we're pretty much dead it was pointless having a whole section for something that seems to be all but over.

This thread will of course stay and be your go to point for all things Xscape from here on.

Thanks
Gaz

Guys I'm pretty sure there were 3 singles..

LNFSG
APWNN
and STTR is the 3rd "single" pretty much...

There's your 3 singles

Slave To The Rhythm was not released as a single, but Loving You was, as radio only single in some countries. So that is 3 singles.

Disappointing. I never heard anything except LNFSG on the radio-even tho I was requesting songs like crazy.

Wednesday's UK album mid-week charts reveal Xscape has returned to the top 40!

While that is true, I'd still consider STTR the official 2nd single really.. They had it included in a Sony phone commercial, spent millions on the hologram performance/music video, and released multiple official remixes in all countries...

Ladies and gents, that is your 3 singles from Xscape, as promised!

Next project please.............

LY was a bridge single not a third single.

It was a second single in my opinion, but radio only. In Croatia it was second single as we have only airplay chart. I don't know what "bridge single" is. First time I ever heard that term was in D.S. article about Loving You.

Not true. There was NO third single which was promised.

LY as a bridging single does not count as an official single and STTR was never a single.

Only LNFSG and APWNN were official singles from Xscape.

No third single as promised.

While no third single may annoy me, I do not want to see a third single suffer the way APWNN did. If the third single does not have the support of Clear Channel the way LNFSG did, I would agree to let the Xscape project die despite it being the best audio offering from Estate/Sony thus far.

Well look at it this way, 2 FOR SURE singles (LNFSG and APWNN) and 2 "half" singles (STTT and LY) equals 3 singles...

The Xscape project is over, done, finito, dead!

It was an awesome project, and one of the best that's been released since 2009...

I'm now looking forward to the next phase..

OnirMJ, a bridge single is played at the mercy of the radio DJ for lack of a more official definition. Butterflies was a bridge single that received plenty of airplay on U.S. R/B radio during Invincible. It did extremely well with no promotion whatsoever.

CrazyVegasMJ, I disagree with you regarding “half singles.” I do agree that the project is most likely completed. I also agree it was the best offering. I was/am disappointed in the way it was handled at times because it was such a superior product.

The best thus far. I'm looking forward to the next. And, @Tygger you can not expect deals like Clear Channel with every single- that was a special one-time deal . I never expected it with every single. The promotion for this release was unprecedented for a posthumous album. They did a GREAT job. Hopefully we can have the same for the next project, we'll see.

Isn't that called radio single? Back in the days it was called radio single. Just like Butterflies & This Time Around. Or (I Like) The Way You Love Me from MICHAEL album. I think that's the same thing, just semantics. But bridge or radio, it was still a single.

I never said I expected that. The Clear Channel deal was a primary factor behind LNFSG’s success. Which promotional tactic would you prefer for Xscape if it was a third single? I prefer a Clear Channel deal. Without such a deal in place, I would rather see the Xscape project die without the third, promised single. It would be too painful to see Xscape fail as a single for me at least. It is too good to watch fail in my view.

OnirMJ, I do not believe a bridging single is the same because a bridging single receives no promotion. There were only two singles from Xscape: LNFSG and APWNN. Both received promotion, LY did not.

I think it is a sad reflection on the promotion of Xscape that many on here do not know if there were two, three, or two and two half singles. As with the Michael album it all got into a bit of a mess. I'm not sure why these things happen as it seems a pretty straight forward process of "give a release date, promote the release date, release a single and promote the single".

On the topic of if there is a 3rd single IMO I feel that Chicago is the most radio friendly. Don't get me wrong I love Xscape and if Michael was still here and it had a killer short film it would be a massive hit but in the circumstances I'm not sure how it would sit with most day time radio playlists.

I think the promotion is over. I think it was over in August of 2014.
