Spike Lee announces Off The Wall Documentary - Estate Announcement Page 66

Agreed. I have very little interest in what The Weeknd has to say. He has been famous a wet week.

That's just me though. He could very well blow me away with an anecdote or some story or opinion of his.

Bahahaha, I couldn't care less of what he has to say either! I don't know who the hell he is.

Lol. The Weeknd is the new heir to the throne...for today.

I'm looking forward to seeing Spike tomorrow, but selfishly I'm afraid he's going to use up his whole time allotment talking about the Academy Awards boycott.
And I want the attention to be on this doc.

What point did I miss? I'm saying the reason why (as far as I can see it) why many MJ releases are not blu ray is because a large amount of his fans don't have blu ray.. A company invests for profit - not just to make us fans happy.. Yes I'd love everything in Blu-ray.. But as you know a lot of math goes into this..

many releases have not been for the general (American and European) public to 'eat up', but made specific for a demographic fan base.. and when a large amount of that fan base wil not buy Blu-ray than they don't take the risk of investing..

THIS IS IT on the otherhand was widely excepted thus they felt it was worth investing in..

I do think (Which I said) MJ material shoud be available in Blu-ray at least on a limited bases or a special order though.. There is no loss that way

This was discussed on this forum before a long time ago. The conclusion that some people came to was that most of MJ's short films were edited on video, so therefore there is no original copy that they could make an HD version from. Either some of his short films were not shot with film or they were edited using video. I don't know if this is the truth, but it sounds plausible. It makes sense to me. Most of MJ's videos were probably never intended to be shown in a movie theater and HDTV wasn't around at the time. Why spend the money on film stock which is expensive when you can shot it on video tape.

I'd hope he'd focus on the documentary, too. I don't care about the Oscars or the boycott, lol!

Well, normally I would care about the Oscars and the boycott, but not tomorrow. I had GMA on this morning and they were discussing it, and Robin Roberts added since Spike will be here tomorrow, we'll ask him all about it. :(
Spike is a good person as a spokesman, ESPECIALLY since he won an Oscar this year for lifetime achievement-he got it in November and usually they show a clip of the ceremony at the actual awards.

But boo hoo-I want to hear about the doc.

He was booked to promote the doc. He will also be asked about the Oscar thing because it would be stupid not to while he's there.
It's going to be okay, everybody.

Also, the doc will feature several celebs to talk about MJ. I don't know why that bothers you people so much. Maybe when you guys make your doc, you can make it the way you want?

Its not that we don't know there is always talking heads in these kind of documentaries. It is marketing and both parties gets exposure, but we MJ fans have problem with some of those talking heads. Last time it was Kanya, Justin, now its Weekend (who cannot dance, but desperately trying to move like Mike:)), and when or if next time comes mark my words, we are not happy who ever is there:D

Yeah, its a good idea if fans could do their own documentary. Fans of Queen, The Beatles, Springsteen have done it, so what stops MJ fans to do the same.

I'm not interested in hearing anyone talking about Michael, I don't care who it is, which is why I'm not interested in documentaries. I don't care what people have to say about him....I'v had enough of people talking about him like they are some kind of know-it-alls, and the way they talk about him, I can't stand it, it just makes me gag

Are you saying you don't watch documentaries of Michael because those people talking?
Wow, I wouldn't have passed seeing Bad 25 doc for nothing, no matter who they got talking there. Its only a few minutes, but rest of it was great and I'm sure same goes on this documentary.

Yet, you're on a message board with other people...talking about michael...

Interesting.

From seeing that trailer I don't have anything to say against The Weekend. Not that he was interesting to watch but at least he didn't say anything bad.

But he did say something bad. He blamed MJ for his falsetto, he said, because of OTT and Michael he found his falsetto, and now many people have to suffer hearing his falsetto on the radio or whatever:cheeky:

Only joking, I can tolerate anyone (although I have few names that would throw me over the edge if they are interviewed:)) for few minutes if I get hours of footage of MJ .

I disagree. I'm not that familiar with his discography, but the songs I know from him are pretty good. I Can't Feel My Face is one of my favourite songs from 2015. I don't mind his falsetto at all.

And even if some people do mind his falsetto, he didn't say anything bad in that trailer. I wasn't thrilled with the other two musicians. That first guy, the dancer was ok.

Just goes to show how everyone is different. I am very excited at the thought of David Byrne being included, being from one of the coolest and best bands ever. Cant Feel My Face is a good tune. Seeing him do it live put me off him a bit though. Terrabysmal.

Wonder if Branca will be in this one too, even though he wasnt around.

The show is going to start just as I have to leave for work. Rats..Maybe it will be online somewhere when I get home.

What exactly you are disagreeing;-) The joke,, or his falsetto or both?

What first guy, the dancer you are talking about? What did I miss?

Yes, I was detailed account what was said and what did they show:wild:

The interview just started. So far it's about the Oscars. He's trying to get to the point that it's the industry, not the Oscars.

It's over. He'll be back in the next hour to talk about the Michael Jackson film. He answered "hee, hee, hee".

I was just joking about the Weeknd earlier. Just like the One special, it helps attract new young fans to the music. I don't mind them as long as they dint take up all the previous time.

Oh man I hope that DSTYGE performance is not just going to be bits and pieces but the full performance like APOM and MITM in Bad25.

Could be just edited clips for the interview. Looks good though so far.

The quality looks terrific. The bit from Sylvia Chase interview is as clear as a bell.
I really wanted to buy the doc separately but just seeing this got me. I can always use another CD of OTW for upstairs. :)

Yes, I know. I mean in the documentary I hope it will be the full performance. Looks like very good quality and a very good performance.

Yes, I knew you meant the doc. I hope it will be too.
