New MJ content (Possibility)

Hmm, I am not on Twitter - but if the account just after Brancas statement has made this tweet it's nothing new really.

It's just what Branca said. But september - I hope we get something before that. A new single soon would be great so it could be a summer hit.

If he says there's surprises coming then I can assume something will eventually happen. Whether or not it's something I'll enjoy is another thing entirely lol.

I am with you lot on new releases. However I would much rather the estate do what was first mentioned release singles only! Bruno Mars is taking this approach with his and it makes people want the music more. Michael's obviously has us all wanting new music but rest of world will get interested more if its drip fed out.

i dont think the estate would want to release music thats not for the summer, thats when music sales the best so i dont think September would happen

Exactly. It doesn't make sense to release an album in September especially with "Hot Fun In The Summertime" being one of the songs on the album. Prince new album comes out in June so the MJE is probably eying a release in June as well.

"Throwing Your Life Away" will likely feature a guest artist.

The track "Hot Fun In The Summer Time" reworked in 2014 and again in 2020 will be included.
— Greatest Artists Of All Time (@greatestartists) December 20, 2020

I've said this a few times and I don't wanna get anybody's hopes up but the anniversary of Michael's death falls on a Friday this year, so this summer might bring something for us

According to the Instagram account for the Broadway show, there’s an announcement coming next week, most probably the cast album. I know some of us aren’t interested in the show, but I’m incredibly excited to see how they interpret MJ’s music for the stage (and would LOVE for it to become a show that community theaters around the globe could do). Lots of future potential there.

Very excited to see what other “surprises” are in store though.

I think something is definitely happening besides the musical.
The estate said for years "we are not planning to do anything soon".
Now branca said "there is some surprises coming".

If there was nothing to come he would say "no, not anytime soon"...

i dont think releasing an album on the day he died is also a good marketing move...
i honestly dont think they would release an album this year,i mean they just got the legal issues settled and next month is summer, even if they have an era already planned out i feel like they would want to let the legal issues pass away with more time and also let corona fade more bc it left a big economic mark on consumers ,either way im happy that there aren't any legal issues anymore and that the artistry can come back to the forefront

Fair enough, I'm still excited for whatever September has in store

I'm praying HIStory gets commemorated. Apparently D25 got skipped because 'the Estate didn't want be predictable'. Branca told some fans that apparently

Well Dangerous 30 is this November isn't it? And Invincible turns 20, too. So even if HIStory isn't commemorated, something has got to come out of this year. There's too many important dates they'd miss otherwise

I really hope so.

That would be a fairly easy release as well, they could just release a special edition with a few outtakes from that era (like Rampage, CGYWOOM) and some previously released songs (Shout, We’ve Had Enough, One More Chance)

Would be cool, would go along with the mentioned tracks cgywom and rampage (rumors, all Rodney tracks).
Hopefully with a remix of heartbreaker that really brings out it's strengths.

invincible 20 is a nice number i bet theyd go for that

Maybe a stronger remix of "Shout" and a contemporized version of "We've Had Enough" because that track doesn't get enough love

I think they'll be staying away from albums completely. We'll get a remixed song every now and again probably.

than i must be the only one whos positive that they'd release more albums especially because they came so far from the first album to the second like they really did they're homework and planned extensively how to roll things out and keep a buzz going made music videos and all of this without an artistic mind like michaels behind it,this was all suites!
i doubt they wouldn't try to get even a better sales performance and an improved era ,its like going to class studying but not trying to take the test and aim for an A

I don't think the estate has that much material, if they did the releases would be more frequent. I mean at his peak Michael only released 2 albums in 80s and 90s and 1 in the 00's, unless they are trying to do something similar i firmly believe they don't have very much left to release.

If not an anniversary release album probably a new single? Streaming has changed how new music is released for sure. OTW Thriller Bad already have re releases. Dangerous & History would be nice to see something project related.

I definitely think they're gonna be sticking to random single releases. It's what they said before LN happened and unless they've totally changed how they feel about it I'd expect that still to be the case.

You're probably right, but I mean LN was so huge (at least in the media) that maybe releasing a new album to put the focus back on the art would be their new strategy. Then again, putting the best production and work into one single or EP at a time might be the best way to slowly add more hype, and then after a few singles they'd slap them on an anniversary album -- like say if they released "Rampage" and "CGYWOOM" and then in 2026 put them as bonuses on an Invincible 25

Yeah apparently that’s the plan - when Prince is 40. Hopefully he’s working on some film projects under his “Kings Son” company.

With limited audio material, film is the ideal route to take for various projects including short films/concerts etc.

So, apparently Prince is being brought on as a consultant to the Estate for “designated projects.” Perhaps they’re starting a transition of power?

I think with the decision recently being handed down on the IRS case, the Estate can finally exit probate. It's my understanding that the Executors will become Trustees and will remain in an advisory capacity, to assist the heirs to manage the Trust. Bringing Prince on board is definitely the first step to an eventual transition of power. Prince should make sure that he learns as much as he can from John Branca, who has a wealth of skill and experience.
