Smash Hits being revived for one-off Jackson special

ahh I saw this article earlier.

After finding out that the cover of Q magazine was infact from 2006, I'm having second thoughts about buying anymore mags, now.

If you want to buy a magazine may I recommend 'Michael Jackson King Of Pop 1958-2009', the front cover has a picture of MJ from the BAD tour wearing the silver top with his arms outstretched. It's full of pictures, some of them are rare and its positive with very little writing in it.

I got that, I agree it's a good one. The choice of pictures is lovely. I like that they're doing a Smash Hits too. Michael is a legend.

Oooh, Smash Hits. Memories of my bubblegum years whilst waiting for Michael Jackson to release new music. lol

That brings back memories!!! I remember being soooooo excited getting the BOTD lyrics sheet / poster inside that! I still have the pullout. Michael was on the front page of the pullout of course. I remember being so excited about getting these mags when I was in school, before the internet days, and in the height of HIStory era. xx

Oh My God, Smash Hits comes back for Michael. That is a trip. Makes me feel all nostalgic!

this just shows the impact! the greatness, the whole thing of Michael , no one and i do mena no one, brought a magazine such as this iconic symbol of the pop world Smash Hits back !! This was a lads/girls bible to the pop world and to have this come back for one issue For Michael Jackson is surely unreal! It just goes to show that the WORLD OF POP!! has not been the same since the almost retirement of Michael in todays music world, now with the passing of THE GREATEST POP/MUSIC LEGEND EVER!! the WORLD has woken up and at last listened and recognised the talent.
I for one will be there on Tuesday with my pennies ready to buy this ISSUE!!

Terry

It really was a big deal. 🙂

I remember when Smash Hits labelled Ronan Keating as "The new king of pop". Oh how times have changed 🤣
oh, you are kidding me! Really? That's six kinds of hilarious, lol.

Tbh, I never bought Smash Hits that much, I was more for the weekly pop papers. And I'd given up altogether long before Michael died. But I did buy the tribute issue and I thought they did a great job. I wasn't all that keen on Mark Ellen as a journalist but I do like that interview he did, that 1983 one, the last one Michael did in the UK. ME did a decent job on that.

But this Ronan Keating thing, oh god ... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

This will probably keep me laughing like a hyena for the rest of the day!

Oh it happened... January 15th, 1997!

Ronan Keating?? OMG no way LOL 🤣

When did he even last have a hit?? Just shows that the pop journalists' prediction powers aren't always all that.

I'm repeating myself here but I'm still waiting for an actually strong "new King of Pop" contender. And waiting... and waiting...🕒

I am shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, at your lack of respect for Ronan. He was *clearly* a worthy successor to Michael. :ROFLMAO:

oh god, the whole thing is mad. I haven't got anything against poor old Ronan. Boyzone did nothing for me, boy bands generally don't, and this Smash Hits nonsense was at the height of Boyzone success so, whatever ...

But it's nonsense on a stick. I mean, Ronan Keating is ... he's just ... oh god, I don't even have the words ...

I am grateful to @knigofpop for bringing us this priceless fun fact. It has added greatly to the gaiety of life.
