Wow/ Looks like many young people want to relive the Thriller years like their parents before themHere's my little Thriller 25 purchase story.
At lunchtime I went to the Best Buy on Fifth Avenue and 44th Street, in New York City. When I went into the store I was looking for some type of promotion, posters or something, but I saw none. I walked around the story looking for T25 and didn't see it. I finally asked a sales person if they had it. She said it's on the FEATURE RACK. I went to the Feature Rack and still didn't see it.
I went back to the sales person and asked her to SHOW me where they were. She took me back to the Feature Rack and ALL OF THE THRILLER 25 CDS WERE GONE! I and a very attractive young man had to wait until someone went in the back to get more copies of T25. That put a big smile on my face!
Absolutely. This is why it is ridiculous that programmes like the grammies left such a significant landmark out of their programme, It makes them lose credibility.
MJ is doing his own pr. He didn't need them afterall.![]()
Thriller 25 is the top story of the largest newspaper in the south which is the Atlanta Journal Constitution, even with the side negatives, it's huge how an album garners so much attention and praise. Sony did the right thing because the whole music industry as a whole owe a huge debt to Michael, when Thriller came out in Dec 1982 the music industry was very similar to how it is today with sales at an all time low and that album ushered in the mega selling albums era that many stars from Prince to Madonna and later N'Sync and Backstreet Boys became a part of until the industry crashed again this decade.
Albums of the Year usually have pretty good sales after the Grammys, as well as other winners. CA-CHING$$$$$$$$$$$Don't sleep on this one y'all

Look, I love Thriller and all, but it pisses me off that this is basically the only album that ever gets any acclaim from people. THRILLER THRILLER THRILLER! MARSHA MARSHA MARSHA!!! Thriller this, Thriller that...
My goodness his other albums are great---just because he can't beat his own record in sales doesn't mean he hasn't made other great music!
OK, enough of my rant lol.
From everything I see and read; I think Michael is being veery smart by not releasing any new music now- letting the celebration of Thriller make people remember what was the reason he is a legend. You see people remembering the Thriller era, people remembering why they loved this as youngsters- its people doing the promotion- because it brings back good memories.
And people are reminded of the fact that he destroyed the borders between "black" and "white" music etc......
Whatever happened with not making a tribute to Thriller on the Grammy show ( it is rather peculiar, no way of denying that!:huhthe fact that it was ignored (?) almost makes it more significant, in a strange way? Its like there was a big hole in the story, and in a way, that makes the whole story sound fake.
I don`t know if that makes any sense, but that how I feel.
Like someone tells you a story, and the part that is obviusly missing, is the one thing you keep thinking about![]()

Can't emphasize enough how much I LOVE the Businessman Thread.
I also agree with what Rasta said above. This is a genius move on Sony's and MJ's part. Sometimes you have to look and think outside the box to see the reasoning why some things take place and are done the way they are done. This T25 release could not be a better lead-in into MJ's new music. PATIENCE, y'all, PATIENCE!
