Michael Jackson Mentionings:

Mister Lonely
review

The basic plot follows Michael Jackson as he befriends Marilyn Monroe who convinces him to come to a castle where she lives in Scotland. Once there we see the castle is inhabited by a cavalcade of impersonators such as The Three Stooges, Abraham Lincoln, Sammy Davis Jr., James Dean and Marilyn’s husband and daughter, Charlie Chaplin and Shirley Temple. I know it sounds stupid and yes, it’s very strange but it’s also kind of beautiful, touching and extremely funny.

Secrets of the Megapimps

“Look,” Lulu says, purring into the phone, “I’ve had famous clients—maybe not governors, but well-known business guys. People you read about in the Wall Street Journal, and let me tell you, if Michael Jackson or, like, the Dalai Lama came through the door, I might get surprised. But Eliot Spitzer? No way. What I’m selling, you never get surprised who’s standing at the counter.”

Buckeyes Earn Top Seed

There will be dancing for Ohio State, but Michael Flatley, Michael Jackson and the like will not be invited. Last season’s national runners-up, the Buckeyes did not hear their names called on Selection Sunday to take part in the Big Dance that is the NCAA Tournament. Instead, OSU had to wait an extra three hours until the brackets for the 2008 MasterCard NIT were announced.

Rick Ross record reveals him to be just another rapper
By CHRIS KRAPEK
“Trilla” - Rick Ross

Rating: 6/10

Rick Ross is trill; there’s no doubt about it.

Throughout his second album “Trilla,” a play-on-words of the classic Michael Jackson album “Thriller,” the Miami rapper uses his trademark swagger to unequivocally pronounce himself as “a boss.”

JazzStage Productions review of Jesse Palter

It's fair to say that singing is in Jesse's blood. Her grandmother, Dorothea Ranier, was an opera prodigy in New York who continued singing throughout her life. Jesse's father, who harbored his own ambitions to be a DJ, was raised in a musical household, which he passed along to his family, keeping plenty of Motown, show tunes, Beatles, Michael Jackson, Prince, Carole King, Stevie Wonder and Tony Bennett on the home stereo.

Michael Jackson HIStory:

1997 - The RIAA announced that the Eagles' "Greatest Hits" album had tied Michael Jackson's "Thriller" as the all-time best-selling album in the U.S.

2004 - Lisa Marie Presley clarified remarks she had made in an Australian TV interview. She said that she had never seen her ex-husband, Michael Jackson, engage in inappropriate behavior with kids.

2004 - An attorney filed an application asking the presiding judge of Los Angeles County Juvenile Court to begin proceedings to take Michael Jackson's children from him and place them under the court's jurisdiction.

Here's a great tip :)

Try to make use of the subscription function that is found in your User CP.

** You can set it to subscribe to any thread that you post in (handy if you don't post often)

** You can set it to NOT subscribe to any thread

** and you can set it up so that you can manually subscribe to threads.... this option I highly reccommend... especially if you post around the board a lot :)

To subscribe to any thread in particular just scroll to the top of the thread that you are reading and click on "Thread Options" and select "subscribe to this thread" to subscribe to the thread.

Cultures spark student performances at museum event

Students’ artwork was on display in the main lobby of the museum. Colorful masks, beads and posters showcased the many cultures students had learned about in preparing for the event. The culmination of the afternoon was an African Fashion Show, and a finale performance of Michael Jackson’s diversity anthem, “We Are the World.”

“It’s really cool to be able to perform in the museum,” said Oretha Shannon, 15, an eighth-grader and captain of the dance team. “I like creating steps and sharing my passion with other people. It’s been an awesome experience.”

Stay tuned: Sashem Brey

People may be surprised to know that I: Seem to have an infinite number of memory megabytes when it comes to pop culture factoids. Like the fact that Sheryl Crow used to be a backup singer for Michael Jackson. Or that Lisa Kudrow was originally cast in the role of "Roz" on Frasier. Or that John Ritter's character on the original pilot of Three's Company (my favorite!) was named David Bell instead of Jack Tripper.

Talking Shop: Bryan Adams

Has the rise of internet piracy affected your sales?
I couldn't really be objective about that. I've already had an incredible run as an artist and I can't always expect to have that kind of success.
But I think it's going to be very difficult for young artists that are coming up. I doubt we'll ever see the Michael Jackson sales numbers ever again.

Concert marks Quincy Jones' 75th birthday

By Paul de Barros
Seattle Times jazz critic

"I can't think of a greater honor than this," said Quincy Jones on Sunday evening, just before the all-star concert at the Paramount Theatre that celebrated his 75th birthday (on March 15) and his musical career.
At the concert, the culmination of this month's opening of the Northwest African American Museum, Jones received the museum's first Lifetime Achievement Award.
Jones, who began his career in Seattle in the 1940s, went on to become one of the most important figures in the American music industry, from writing for Count Basie to producing Michael Jackson's album, "Thriller."
At a preconcert news conference at Seattle's Sorrento Hotel, he rhapsodized about his alma mater, Garfield High School, whose jazz band was scheduled for the Paramount, along with Carlos Santana, Ernestine Anderson, the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra and others.
Jones played in Seattle with the young Ray Charles early in their careers. He never imagined that a museum would be built to honor the achievements of Seattle's African Americans. When he first lived in the area, Jones said, his family was put into segregated housing in Bremerton.
"Ray and I used to say, 'Not one drop of my self-worth depends on your acceptance of me.' "

Re: 17th March, 2008: MJ News and Mentionings

Michael Jackson may well be the richest man in show business after all. It turns out that Paul mcCartney's assets were just hyped by the media and he was only half as rich as they claimed him to be, with assets of roughly 400 mil pounds, and not the 800mil the the media has been reproting. Mj is the bigger man afterall. I can see why the media wanted to blowup pauls. They wouldn't have wanted that honour to go to MJ.

The catalogue alone is worth billions and he owns half of it. Then there is his own assets that nobody knows about but he is bout to be worth well over a billion. Don't forget that Sony guaranteed over $1.3 billion for just half his share of the catalogue. So yes, I would say MJ is worth well over a billion in assets. Paul's assets were assessed because of the divorce, so it has to be accurate.

i think mcartney was just B.Sing interms of saying what hes worth or claiming that. afterwards heather gave her speech outside the court and joked about how he was suddenly only worth 400 mill now. of course who knows what hes really worth but its no surprise he suddenly claims hes worth less than whats been reported all these years just when mills wants alot of it lol

Re: 17th March, 2008: MJ News and Mentionings

Finally back up.. what happened???

Re: 17th March, 2008: MJ News and Mentionings

I never for one second believed that P McCartney was no billionaire. And I'm glad Heather put him on blast.

FOX news was just saying this morning that Paul wasn't hurt by the divorce because he is worth 1.6 bil. That is the biggest lie and they know it.

It is funny how the deflate Michael's wealth and inflate Paul's wealth. Well, now the truth is out.

Does anyone have the tape of Heather blasting this fool? Is it on YouTube yet, cause I wanna see it.

Re: 17th March, 2008: MJ News and Mentionings

^ I heard the same thing.. I was like HOW THE HELL could be worth over a billion dollars and not own the Beatles music.. His most prized thing of his career.

I was like damn, I know he's into investments and all but damn... no way!!

and she leaves him with 50 somethin' million I think it said.. hell no lol!! She would be leaving with hundreds of millions

'Preferential treatment' case against Michael Jackson may not go forward

The civil case against pop star Michael Jackson and Marian Medical Center may not happen, according to the defendant's attorney.
The family of Manuela Ruiz says the 74-year-old patient was pushed out of her hospital room to make space for Jackson back in 2005. Ruiz later died.
Maria Ortiz, along with Rosa and Marcos Meraz, are suing over what they say was preferential treatment.
But the plaintiffs did not appear in court Monday. The hospital's attorney says they have not secured a lawyer.
A statement released by the hospital to Action News says:
"Patient care and safety is always our first priority at Marian. We have always been confident the care provided to Mrs. Ruiz was exceptional. We continue to express our sympathy to the Ruiz family."

Oh yeah. I saw that and forgot to mention it after I saw LJ's post about GD3.

I thought they had dropped the part against Michael a while back anyway.

according to this Janet has dropped out of the top 10

Michael has been dropped from the case. But the media will still continue to mention his name to make their article more interesting. Cause, really no one knows this family.

And by this family not showing up in court, really makes them look bad. They must know they are fighting a loosing battle.

I posted a semi updated version of the ALBUM FACT SHEET with everything we know about MJ's next album.

http://mjjcommunity.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1365651#post1365651

If there is anything else of importance you feel should be added to the list let me know so I can add it..

Also for those who are still confused about IF MJ is working on an album. Read it.. Scroll down a bit and you'll see the fact sheet.

Thank you for posting that list, it was very informative and a great way of keeping up to tabs with all the official knowledge that we have :).

you know...if i were a person looking from afar...which i am.. i'd say that the fact that this family reportedly said that MJ was to blame for the death of their family member was the heaviest piece of ammunition that i have ever seen leveled against MJ...pehaps rivaling the accusations from 1993 and 2005...and yet...in this case as in all others, there is no qualification for judging, becauase as in any accusation ever leveled against MJ, none of us knows all the facts. and yet, this case may not go forward because the family didn't obtain a lawyer and didn't show up.

this has happened against MJ so many times..(heavyweight stuff) and yet nothing has been found to justify finishing him off...this is the kind of evidence i'm talking about that makes it easy for me to know that MJ is gunna be alright.
