Appleheads!

how do you guys study law and sociology at 16? like, are you talking about law to become a lawyer??? i know you can start college at 16, but i don't get the whole law thing :mello: sorry, stupid american over here who can't even get her medical degree until 26 :mello:

:ciao:

Kanevsky's 16?

In Poland you can't get the medical degree till 26 either, unless you went to primary school one year earlier (sometimes it happens).
Most people in my generation did Masters straight (cause we didn't have a lot of 3 + 2 system studies, bachelor + masters)
so most would be Masters at 25 earliest anyway...

It's a different 'system' over here. I'll try and explain it the best I can.

Once you've finished Primary School (the first school you go to). Usually age 11/12. You must go to Secondary school until you're 16. You stay there for 5 years and for the first 3 years you are there you have to study all subjects - Maths, Science, English, IT, Drama etc. but then for your last 2 years you pick 4 other subjects to take along with Maths, Science and English.

After you've finished Secondary school you can basically do what you want - go to College, 6th form, get a job or be a bum. If you go to college or 6th form then you pick a subject (usually more than one) such as Law and then you study for an A Level in that subject. Once you've finished College (2 years) and got your A levels, you can go to University. :)
I've probably completely messed with your head, I'm awful at explaining things. :giggle:

so master's straight would mean 4 year bachelor's, and then get master's (~3yrs) separately? that's the way we do it over here, but I thought Europe was different (again, apologies for my American non-knowledge of the rest of the world :p). or many times (in science, non-sci is usually masters i think), it's 4 year bachelor's and then 6 yrs PhD (with master's coming as part of the PhD program) i'm really curious about this, since I know my degree won't "transfer over" from country to country so I figured everything was completely different :mello:

edit: ohhhhhh ok kane, so college and university are different!!! so your two years of studying two subjects would be like a prep for university then. so university would give you a bachelor's degree then, or is that a masters/PhD?

edit2: :lmao: at me talking all serious like today vs. last night's ummmmmmm immaturity :mello:

Ok so we have primary 6 years now then sth called gymnasium that is 3 years for teenagers to misbehave :p and then 3 years of high school (or 2 years of vocational training). We don't have college, we go straight to university (or not) after high school.

If you wanna be a doctor in Poland, it's 6 years from that point.
If you study engineering, you get an engineer degree after 4 years plus 1 year more is Masters.
When I studied, most other courses were 5 years Masters straight,
but now you can also do it in 3 years Bachelor plus 2 years Masters system.
You can't do a Phd without Masters, unless you're some special genius case or sth.

I know that in Canada (Quebec) they have an equivalent of UK's college, and you can also go into Phd without a Masters that seems weird for me.
Europe has so many educational systems, I think every country has its own, so I can only really speak for Poland here :)

thanks limon :) haha i think i'll read more about this tonight :) i really like the system over here, gives us more of a chance to grow up and get a feel for what we want to do with our lives before committing to a career. would be nice to get a start earlier though sometimes :mello: ooooook, enough thread derailing by me being boring. more michael plz

Watching the Oprah interview. You can tell she's scared shitless in that introduction

Well yeah, it was her first live interview, and it was with Michael Jackson on top of it  It was quite possibly the biggest interview of her entire career.

That campaign shows just how powerful we are on this forum :mello:

Same as my username. Kane :) It's a weird name :mello:

Yeah I'm with Lims though, I don't think we're some of MJJC staff's favorites

And I don't think your name is weird. It's just like the Biblical name Cain only spelled differently

Yeah, without going to College and getting A levels it'd be extremely hard to get into University (unless Daddy's a millionaire :giggle: )

I'm not sure about the Bachelors, Phd, masters etc. I only have to start looking at that around summer time so haven't researched much about it. :)

It's easy to explain Ash - it's Irish engineering...

They have some sort of pipe that lets it travel to the 2nd floor where I work. the problem is just that I'm the first one in line.
The next few offices are people that don't matter much either. And the last office is the director of the place.

Now, she complains that it's too hot also in winter and that she wants it on.
Therefore everyone else has it on. They can either start it for whole floor or shut it for the whole floor.
Brilliant, isn't it????!!!!!!! baffles me too. And I have it the worst, as I sit first.

Fuckers :D that's all I gotta say about it. I leave early today cause I freeze, and no one's in the whole university anyway.
