Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

Well hopefully........the fact that nothing has been announced could indicate that there is a genuine delay because they are actually remastering the Bad World Tour footage!!!!

Well here's to hoping........and plenty of wishful thinking!!!!!

why do you think there's a delay? everything reported for now shows a mid may - end of may date at least for Pepsi cans. It's only logical that the rest of the items happen at the same time or shortly thereafter.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

Does anyone know if there will be different designs for the can? I'm just curious :bored2:. I'll be fine with the one design though.:D
I was wondering that too, I think they should release 3 different kinds, it would be fun.
And also, will it be only cans or maybe bottles too?

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

"As first reported by Ad Age, Pepsi is also prepping a campaign in mid-May around the 25th-anniversary of Michael Jackson's "Bad." Billboard has learned the program will include a series of remixes from superstar DJs -- Skrillex, Diplo and A-Trak are among the names mentioned to be connected with the project. The exclusive tracks are set to be accessed through a special Pepsi-can promotion where fans can scan a code with their phone to hear a song."

Exclusive tracks! Special Pepsi-can!
What if some countries don't get these Pepsi cans and not everybody has that kind of phone that scans codes:-(
Surely these exclusive tracks can be accessed other ways too, I hope.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I know this is impossible, but i just had the image that what if Sony released a normal DVD/ Blu Ray copy of the Wembley show(s) for around $20 or so... and then released something like a $70 special edition where its an entire Wembley show with all camera angles included and allowed the fans to mix and edit the concert to their own personal taste, kinda like a video game or something like that... this would truly be the best official release ever done in all of Michael Jackson History!!!!

Multiangle? Haha, that would be nice :D

Apparently according to someone here the pepsi cans won't be available in Britain. But who knows, let's just wait and see.

Anyway, I don't understand the current disappointment, I think these remixes are only Pepsi's extra projects added to the MJ logo on the cans, not SONY's, well hopefully.

Finally, even if some people don't get the access to remixes, actually who cares? I mean they are only remixes that we'd probably listen to as much as to the Thriller remixes, meaning close to 0 times. There are millions of MJ's remixes on the net, I don't even know why would anyone be disappointed with some of the millions remixes the fans wouldn't get the chance to have.

What we should focus on is the Estate's/SONY's project. If they want to celebrate BAD 25 as a king is supposed to be celebrated they know what to do. If they try to f... with us and milk us with poor material then they better not release a single thing, they may keep all their stuff. Michael had already given us all the magic that they will never be able to re-create if they focus only on how to use MJ's name to milk us.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

So they want MJ to appeal more to the youth by giving out remixes, making the demos sound more current, bringing in Skrilles, etc.

You spelled Skittles wrong. :p

Or was it Skrillex? Bah, f*ck it... :p

 I thought you were atheist

I am. Not sure what that video I posted had to do with my lack of belief in a god but still...

I agree with you.

That article reads as though the remixes are linked to the Pepsi cans, not necessarily the new album (although I guess it's a possibility that the cans will only link to clips of the remixed tracks, with the full version being available on the new album). The album could contain completely different remixes or no remixes at all - we just don't know at the moment.

I know many of MJ's hard core don't like the idea of going down the T25 route with remixes and guest artists but to be honest having tracks remixed by club DJs sounds like a reasonable idea to me. There are more and more songs being released with a 'club sound'. Even US artists have caught on over the last few years and have been slowly migrating across. The first mainstream US artist I remember using that sound was Chris Brown a few years ago and since then it's been Kelly Rowland, Snoop Dogg, Rhianna, now Neo's on a David Guetta track. Using the 'club sound' to promote BAD25 just makes sense to me and if they do a good job with tracks that prove to be commercially successful then I'm ok with that.
The Estate's job is to prolong the MJ legacy and make money. They can't do that by appealing to MJ's hard core fan base, so they need to attract the masses and moving with the music trend is a good way for them to do that. IMO they should add something for the hard core (e.g. demos/unreleased tracks) but also include stuff for the next generation (e.g. club remixes and contempory guest artists)

BTW It was me who said the cans won't be available in the UK. That comes from Britvic who have exlusive rights from PepsiCo to bottle and distribute Pepsi in the UK.

^^ Bumper Snippet, You have got to be kidding right..lol ;)

Exactly what I was going to say!

I mean come on, Justin Bieber? What the ***** does he have to do with Bad?
And don't make another rerelease of Bad 2001, we already have one.

If this is true, I won't be buying it!!!

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

Justin who???? That Alien Ant Farm cover is still a great cover !!!!

I don't really want Michael's music to sound like the crap that is usually on the charts these days, to be honest. The problem is once again that today's mainstream sucks big time and to adjust Michael's music to that will only spoil the quality of his music, IMO.

But I'm OK with a compromise if the remixes won't take up much of the space on the CD. I think Sony should not take only care about how to make the CD cool with non-fans, but they also should pay attention to fans' wishes. They can try to appeal to the general public all they want, but if fans won't like it they will lose most of the potential buyers. (See the "Michael" album debacle.)

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I only buy Bad 25 album if there is at least few unreleased songs. I haven't even listened remixes in Thriller 25 yet so I'm not interested in remixes.

Bad Tour 1988 concert release is what all fans want.

it is my understanding that QR codes that you scan with a phone are simply "links" that give you access to a regular URL. I'm sure you could visit that URL with a regular computer, as long as you knew what it was. Someone correct me if i'm wrong, i've never actually used a QR code.

I think you're right. That occurred to me too.

Wesley Snipes, John Branca, Spike Lee and Quincy Jones have just dropped by for a nutella sandwich to my house. We've spoken about Zakk. As we knew very well that he was going to be disappointed with the release of the 15 minutes summary of the Yokohama concert, we decided to offer him a special one-month-trip ticket on an oil tanker.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I though it was "see what they release" and then "freak out", not the other way around... :p

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

Have you read that?

http://theurbandaily.com/1921261/pepsi-plans-michael-jackson-bad-25th-anniversary-campaign/

Though outsold by Thriller, Bad is still one of the best selling albums in the world. Released on August 31, 1987, Bad has moved 45 million albums worldwide.

Wikipedia and all articles and references have to be updated!!!!!

Whaa? Thriller pushed 110 million copies, Bad pushed 30 million. If Bad outsold Thriller, BAD would be the best-selling album of all time... ugh, some people :/
