BAD25 | Charts & Sales History

Bad is the fifth best selling album worldwide last week, according to mediatraffic. Mediatraffic is not an official chart, so their sales numbers aren't completely accurate. Still, I think being #5 on that list is great!

this is the 2 CD version. According to Billboard a release should only have 1 new CD of material to be added to the original. So that's why they are considering it as a "re-entry" and adding the sales number to Bad.

Refer to the original Billboard listing

23* RE-ENTRY Bad :25 Michael Jackson
Weeks on chart : 96
Peak : 1

This is clearly referencing original Bad album with 96 weeks on charts and number 1 position.

Actually this is marked as "debut" on Billboard and it's the 3 CD +DVD version. As it has 2 additional CD's Billboard sees it as a totally different and new release than Bad.

Original Billboard listing info

46* DEBUT Bad 25: Michael Jackson
Weeks on chart :1
Peak: 46

It's all about Billboard's rules. 1 additional CD gets added to the original item. Anything more than 1 CD is treated as a totally new thing. So according to them Bad re-entered the charts at 23 as they see 2 CD version as an extended Bad album. They also charted 3 CD _1 DVD at 46 as it's a totally new release according to them.

According to their rules Billboard divided up the products.

2CD version which according to Billboard considered an extended version of the original Bad charted at 23.

3 CD +1 DVD which according to Billboard is a totally new release charted at 46.

Wembley DVD alone is the #1 on music videos.

Bad 25 is also #1 on catalog albums which is albums at least 18 months old.

i dont care about these billboard assholes! they can changes their rules as often they want. 2009 mj have all the 9 albums in the top positions. a world record forever, noone can and will achieve that again! michael jackson sold all this albums. billboard cant do anything againt this. :tease:

and this fake cheated hot 100 chartsysttem they have created. to let some b-star, or whatever she is, perry, makin a few number ones.

they doning this only to make it looks bad. that people see, "hey what a bad album, dont buy it".
bad 25 is much better than thriller 25.

and bad 25 is #10 on the billboard charts!
amen

thats another fake/manipulation.
and on this chart they only list one bad album. i'm sure the other one is on second place.
assholes!

The other one is NEW..so it can't be on the Catalog chart.

#4 ain't BAD (pun intended) but the numbers are horrendous. Not just for MJ...but the whole chart is depressing.

Mere 2 years ago, the "Michael" album debuted with about million sale worldwide..now the #1 album sold half of that.

Music is really dead.

That's awesome! Actually it sold the same amount as the fourth place album, according to this list.
Yeah, that's true. So the only albums that sold more worldwide are by Pink, Kanye and the Killers, they're new releases by popular artists. I'd say that's really good for an anniversary edition!

Wow I had forgotten about that site. I stopped visiting because the owner stopped updating it, but now it seems it's up and running again. Nice to see that BAD25 did ok on a world scale. That's the thing about MJ, he might do bad in most countries with B25, but because he's truely global he can still sell well overall.

Michael Jackson Wembley July 16 1988 has dropped to #6 for Music Video & Concerts category on Amazon.ca bestsellers, but still #1 for Best Selling Pop DVD and Bad 25 is #60 for bestsellers.

Hello!

As some of the fans know, the “Bad” Remix by Afrojack reached #2 on the UK Dance chart and it is currently climbing up the US Dance charts. It is definitely getting spun in the clubs!

We’re looking for more chart successes for Bad25 in the coming weeks, so make sure to leave your reviews on retailer websites, tell your friends, and spread the word about Bad25!

^^
That's great news!

EDIT: I can't see it listed on any of the current charts. Do you have a link

You can like or dislike Afrojack's remix, and even though Michael had nothing to do with it...it makes me happy the mix is a succes in the clubs. No wonder when you link one of the hottest dj's to Michael's name. I would have done the same if I were the Estate.

It's official, BAD25 has dropped from #6 to #38 in its second week in the UK album chart.

OMG..., BAD25 has the whole package (old/new songs, live CD and live DVD gig) for all, not only MJ fans, and people do ignore it, but they bought Thriller25 like hot cakes????

I am so disappointed.

The sales will rise after the documentary airs. They should have shown it on September 18th.

I think it's better for the album to stay more on the chart, than to score #1 in the first week and then to be forgotten.

DANISH CHART:

Michael Jackson - BAD25 - enters the danish album chart as #36 this week.

Michael Jackson - BAD25 - enter the danish Bit Album chart as #15 this week.

Michael Jackson - Music DVD - Live at Wembley enter the charts as #5 this week.

Since the album is in the Top 40 all major stores will start selling the album from next week, this will probably make more people be aware of the release and buy it. - Hope it will chart even better next week. - I sooo hope the DVD will go to #1 !!

Australia
Bad #14 on Albums chart.
Bad #1 on Catalogue Albums chart.
Live At Wembley July 16, 1988 #2 on Music DVDs chart.

wish the the dvd was at number 1 as i truly belive that where it deserves to be

BAD25 sold just 3,365 copies in its second week on the UK album chart.

Did Paul Simon's Graceland 25 suffer such a big drop in week 2 UK?

No, because its Paul Simon and Graceland.
His fans know how to support his album and why.

Only MJ fans have become spoilt and choosy about whats worth their money... and evidently BAD era is bad, worthless...
They want miracles, but I wonder, what they expect in 10-15-20 years... if they have such a chance to have such a package of MJs music.

What caused the week 5 spike for Paul Simon? The televising of his Hard Rock Calling set?

No promotion + No Michael = No sales

I have not seen the live CD as a stand alone or DVD and live CD packaged together.

Bottom line everyone has bad the original album. Give people different buying option. I for one do not play Cd 1 at all. I am also tired of having to buy the same thing to get additional songs. Change up the options next time pls.

Or Graceland had not sold much since the '80s. Unlike BAD which hit the Top 10 after MJ passed.

Indeed. According to Wikipedia, Graceland sold 1.5 million in the UK since its release in the 80s, while Bad sold almost 4 million.
