A Michigan man dressed as the Joker has been arrested for trying to steal Batman posters and other collectibles from a theater showing 'The Dark Knight'.
The 20-year-old man, Spencer Taylor, was dressed from top to bottom as the 'Dark Knight' villain, wearing a purple suit, a green wig and face paint.
Police apparently arrived at the theatre, after receiving a call, to find employees restraining the man.
He will be charged with "larceny and malicious destruction of property".
Update: Taylor has entered a plea agreement to serve one day in jail, perform 16 hours of community service and pay $685 in fines for the crime.

Yeah hopefully people don't get more serious than stealing posters. LOL I thought about that when seeing all these people impersonating the joker on youtube. It's fun in that way but...people are crazy...so hopefully there aren't any real copy cats. :mello:

that would be funny to see.. Joker stealing Batman posters.. Oh God!!

PPL these days.. lol

The cost of gas in Gotham City has reached an all time high. Batman has asked Lucious Fox to downsize the Batmobile so the fighting crime won’t cost so much.

I have heard that the next film might employ the cape crusader’s on screen nickname “The Batman” in the title. “The Return of The Batman” anyone?
I think a cool title would be "The Batman Redemption". Think about it. Batman told Gordon to blame him for all the people Harvey/Two-Face killed. He possibly even got blamed for Dent's death as well. I'm not entirely sure on that last part. But either way, and especially if I'm right that Batman was blamed for Dent's death, the people of Gotham are going to really, really hate him. So he's going to have to redeem himself in the next movie and the way he'll probably do that is by saving Gotham from the Riddler or whatever villain(s) are used in the next film. So I like the sound of "The Batman Redemption".

Also, the fact that Gotham will really hate Batman in the next movie could make for an awesome Catwoman subplot. Being a seductress, she could try to convince Batman to turn against Gotham and it could almost work because he feels hated and out-cast. And the fact that the real truth is that he saved Gotham makes him even more angry at the fact that they hate him. So Batman could almost turn into a bad-guy thanks to Catwoman. That could be sort of cool.

I love all the speculation about Batman 3. It's going to be a real fan-made film because film-makers wont be able to ignore all the suggestions being thrown around be fans all over the net. There's some cool videos on YouTube. I love this one of someone's idea of what Harley Quinn (if she's in the next movie) should look like:

I know I have a LONG LONG wait.. But I am all ready waiting for the next Batman.. It will be torcher, just like how it was waiting for this one.

After 4 weeks at number 1 'The Dark Knight' finally got knocked down to number 2 and within 30 days it has made a total of $471 Million passing the original 'Star Wars' that made $461 Million after its may 1977 release. So 'The Dark Knight' is now the 2nd highest grossing film of all time!!!!

I don't see how you could of 'heard' anything given that there has been no official talk in regards for the next possible Batman film (Christian Bale is contracted for 3 films, Christopher Nolan may not be IIRC). TDK has only been out for a month.

I'll just copy my post from MJJB about the next movie

I just checked some movie forums and read something that I never thought of... remember Mr Reese, the man who knew Batman's identity.... Mr Reese = Mysteries. And who of all villains knows Batman's identity? Of course it's the Riddle, maybe that's why Oldman has hinted about the Riddle in every single interview, he was already in the Dark Knight!

Here is some guys opinion about it and I agree with every part, easier to copy than to write the same thing yourself

"I think it's very possible that Reese turns out to be the Riddler. The guy has a motive (money), intelligence (was clever enough to solve the "Who is Batman" riddle by delving deeply into the money pit and finding pictures of the tumbler. Clearly a "riddle" solved), morally sketchy (tried to blackmail Wayne out of several million dollars), embarrassment (his attempt to blackmail was dismissed by Fox... plus his career is probably tarnished a bit from going on television and trying to expose Batman.... society hates him (people were ready to kill him and probably place some of the blame of the hospital bombing on him... even if not his fault).

He's the only person who claims to know Batman's identity and the movie ended with the public hunting Batman. How does he NOT play a part in the 3rd? Seriously... and I don't think NOlan would create a character with that much significance and power for the heck of it. I'm not sure how the 3rd one will play out, but if it involves the Riddler, I'm pretty much expecting that to be Reese. And honestly it would make sense for the Riddler to be an unknown character threatening Gotham for the greater part of the movie. If the film is done as a detective thriller then the ultimate reveal of Mr. Reese as the "mysterious" Riddler might not even happen until the climax."

'Dark Knight' swings past $500 million mark

By DAVID GERMAIN, AP Movie Writer Sun Aug 31, 1:43 PM ET

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Batman's rich alter-ego Bruce Wayne has added half a billion dollars to his riches. "The Dark Knight" on Sunday became the second movie in Hollywood history to top $500 million at the domestic box office, raising its total to $502.4 million, according to estimates from distributor Warner Bros.
The film hit that mark in just over six weeks, half the time it took "Titanic," which reached $500 million in a little more than three months. "Titanic," the biggest modern blockbuster, remains No. 1 on the domestic charts with $600.8 million.
Despite its brisk pace, "The Dark Knight" is not expected to approach the total for "Titanic," which put up smaller numbers week after week but lingered at the top of the box office for months.
Dan Fellman, head of distribution at Warner Bros., said he expects "The Dark Knight" to finish at about $530 million, though it could reach $550 million if business persists as strongly as it has.
"I keep raising the number because it just keeps holding better than expected," Fellman said.
"The Dark Knight" will climb to about $505 million by Labor Day, the conclusion of Hollywood's busy summer season. That amounts to nearly one-eighth of Hollywood's overall summer revenue of $4.2 billion, which edges the previous summer record of $4.18 billion set last year, according to box-office tracker Media By Numbers.
Factoring in today's higher admission prices, "The Dark Knight" would need to take in about $900 million to match the number of tickets sold by "Titanic."
Labor Day weekend was generally sleepy at theaters, with a rush of new movies failing to find much favor with audiences. Through Sunday, Paramount's comedy "Tropic Thunder" remained No. 1 for the third straight weekend with $11.5 million.
The 20th Century Fox sci-fi thriller "Babylon A.D." with Vin Diesel debuted in second place with $9.7 million, while Overture Films' espionage drama "Traitor," starring Don Cheadle, opened at No. 5 with $7.9 million.
Premiering at No. 7 was Lionsgate's spoof flick "Disaster Movie" with $6.2 million. MGM's campus comedy "College" opened well outside the top 10 with $2.1 million.
The top 12 movies took in $75.2 million, down 23 percent from the same weekend last year, when "Halloween" opened with $26.4 million.
"This is kind of an inauspicious end to a really incredible summer," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of Media By Numbers. "We limped past the finish line."

I saw this guy in North Hollywood last week walking the streets dressed like the Joker. I honked at him and smiled and he did the Joker's mannerisms with the mouth licking and everything. It was pretty cool, but random.

Anyone got the DVD yet?

I'll be getting it as a Birthday Gift this Sunday, but I'm curious to know what you lot make of it :)

I've had my "Special Edition" copy on reserve for over the last month and a half! As soon as work is over tomorrow I am swinging by the video shop and grabbing my copy up! I CANT WAIT!!!! I saw this movie 7 times in the theatres and I AM SUPER SIKED to be watching it AGAIN tomorrow!!! WAHOO!!!

"I think that you and I are destined to do this forever."

"Madness, as you know, is like gravity. All it takes is a little push! **laughs insanely**" - The last line the Joker has in the film.

I CANNOT WAIT!!!

New posthumous award for Heath Ledger's 'Dark Knight' role

LOS ANGELES (AFP) — Late Australian actor Heath Ledger received a second posthumous award here Tuesday, as the Los Angeles Film Critics Association honored his performance in Batman blockbuster "The Dark Knight."
Ledger is a heavy favorite to land a best supporting actor Oscar for his spellbinding portrayal of arch-villain the Joker in the film, which shattered a series of US box office records after its release in July.
Ledger, who died from an overdose of prescription drugs in January, aged 28, won the Australian Film Institute's international best actor award on Saturday.
Perth-born Ledger gained international stardom and was nominated for an Oscar for his role as a gay cowboy in the 2005 film "Brokeback Mountain."
If Ledger is honored at next February's Academy Awards, he would be only the second posthumous Oscar-winner after Peter Finch, who triumphed in 1976 for his iconic role in "Network."
