Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here? (Non-debate thread for believers only)

Our God is an awesome God!

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here? (Non-debate thread for believers only)

He is awesome indeed and Isaiah 40:22 says:

It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in.

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here? (Non-debate thread for believers only)

Amen, Victory!

“1. Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

2. For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

3. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

4. That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

5. Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

6. That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

7. For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

8. He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.

9. But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

10. And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;

11. And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

12. That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

13. But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” [1 Thessalonians, Chapter 4]

“1. But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

2. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

3. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

4. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

5. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

6. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

7. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

8. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

9. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10. Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

11. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

12. And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

13. And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

14. Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

15. See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

16. Rejoice evermore.

17. Pray without ceasing.

18. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

19. Quench not the Spirit.

20. Despise not prophesyings.

21. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

22. Abstain from all appearance of evil.

23. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

25. Brethren, pray for us.

26. Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.

27. I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

28. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.” [1 Thessalonians – Chapter 5]

Thank you for posting that, Alma.

You're welcome, Earth_Song... It's the latest I've read from the New Testament and I've found myself in a way compelled to post it on here for some reason..

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here? (Non-debate thread for believers only)

Thank you to both of you...

I'm not feeling too well.. I've met with 2 of my former high school friends, and one of them confirmed to us that another one of our former high school classmates and friends with her indeed has Lupus (not the discoid form, but the internal one, attacking the organs, which it's started already)... I don't know what to ask right now, except for prayer, and I would disclose her name, but I want to protect her identity.. So.. I don't know, I suppose I could ask for some prayer for myself, because we're going to be seeing her in two weeks' time, haven't seen her since high school ended. She's living the moment, tries to have a normal life.. but I don't, anything can happen to her anytime.. I need strength and prayer, I suppose, so I can convince her, if possible, if she agrees, to talk to me and go to church with me.. And just.. It's hard, what can I say..?..

..

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here? (Non-debate thread for believers only)

Just be there for her, Alma. That would mean a lot.

"This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." -- Psalm 118 :24

I love that one, Alma!

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here? (Non-debate thread for believers only)

^^ I better start saying it myself.

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here? (Non-debate thread for believers only)

:)

"A religious man is a person who holds God and man in one thought at one time, at all times, who suffers harm done to others, whose greatest passion is compassion, whose greatest strength is love and defiance of despair." -- Abraham Joshua Heschel

I picked this precious quote from out of one of my old notebooks, and decided to post it on here too because of its enlightening strength of truth..

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here? (Non-debate thread for believers only)

I remind myself daily that God doesn't do things in my time ..he does them in his..Thank You Jesus...Hallelujah

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here? (Non-debate thread for believers only)

"1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

11 These things command and teach.

12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing, this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee."

[1 Timothy Chapter 4 ]

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here? (Non-debate thread for believers only)

Wow... This is making me melt, personally, as a Christian Orthodox (filled with numerous wonder-making saints that have survived or died following many persecutions and tortures for their unwavering, burning love for God).. Matter of fact, been thinking about this branch being learned about and, hopefully, embraced by more (it's absolutely wonderful, however strict..), so seeing even a seed or a grain of curiosity about it.. makes me melt. This made my day quite possibly, thanks. ...

Edit: The Lord Is Risen...and hopefully your Easter holidays were lovely. ...

Indeed He has risen!!

I am humbled by your reply. I find the EO path to be one of love and mystery. I'm finding daily prayers and quite time to be something that I enjoy. When my mind is going in 50 million directions, I stop, relax and say,"Lord Jesus Christ, son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner."

I have also been listen to the bible on audio (mp3) to and from work. The Word of Promise is fantastic with Michael York as the narrator.

Thanks again!

Wow... this again made my day... I'm saying this little prayer quite often myself: "Lord Jesus Christ, son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner." ... And it always works, you can feel and see the difference that you're getting better with what you do or with your state of mind at that respective time. That prayer is incredibly effective and a must for Christians - He is always listening and working through you however little when you say it from the heart...

I thank you anew myself, and be/remain this blessed. ...

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here? (Non-debate thread for believers only)

I don't believe in the rapture as we know it (because the Catholic branch of Christianity does not believe in it in the WAY non-Catholics do, if I'm not mistaken...but that's sort of beside the point) but...ok getting to the POINT, has anyone witnessed any attempts to use the May 21st issue as a means to mock our faith? One false prophet doesn't speak for our faith.

I heard that a true prophet won't give an exact date of a future event - but just because they don't give a date, doesn't mean they're true - if I'm making sense.

It's sad - because if people mock another faith, like Buddhism or Islam or Hinduism, they would be accused of being bigots :( But with Christianity you can get away with it :( Is it just me who is feeling this frustration? As Christians, being mocked is tantamount to being a tenet of the faith. We're supposed to expect it to happen - because Jesus prophesied it. But how come it's so hard to get used to being treated like that? How come it's so hard to take it in stride?

I agree with you... It's one of the first things I've thought about concerning this May 21 sham... Very sad.. I'm curious as to what that false prophet is thinking of now, besides being glad that he got attention from some members of the masses (who were a lot of them). He not only mocked Christianity, but also the frightening righteous Judgement Day (the Second Coming of Christ), sort of like stating: 'Don't listen to what the Bible tells you, WE know when the Judgement Day comes and it Will come that day at 6:00. I'm almost certain that 'prophet' didn't even know what he was talking about and just did that to scare off the gullible among the afore-mentioned....

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here? (Non-debate thread for believers only)

This is what is in the Bible, and I feel this way too.

"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." -- Matthew 24:36

Amen sister!!!

That man better give it up. I heard a lot of people gave him money, etc., to follow him, etc. Disgusting!!!

People need to follow one man, and one man only, Christ himself!
