I think they did a big mistake. I find it very hard to believe that anything Robson or Safechuck does in the future will be taken seriously, as they should have known. They could just have looked at what happend to Evan Chandler. He never became that famous screenwriter.

We don't know if MTV was in fact considering removing MJ's name and decided against it. Or if they put the story out there to test the waters and see public reaction.

Furthermore we don't know that when the show is broadcast that it will be announced with it full and correct name. If I remember correctly, MTV has done that before.

In the AP's (Associated Press) reporting they also called it "THE MICHAEL JACKSON" Vanguard Award.

P.S. Missy is also scheduled to perform. I will not be surprised if she inserts something acknowledging MJ's influence in her career during her MTV performance.
