I'm going to go back on the title of the thread for a second, But its all for a good cause lol

I was reading an old review of Invincible on NME's website that came up in a google search,
anyways I got up to The title track of the album which is obviously Invincible, anyways it says the riff sounds slightly reminiscent (as they put in their review) of a old track by a group called Sly and The Family Stone and their track called 'Thank You'

anyways I then had a brain wave and typed in to Youtube too see if the song came up, and sure enough it did. But when it started it sounded like Scream from HIStory album and I could'nt really hear any resemblance to Invincible on there at all.

Heres the tune for you too see for yourself :)

and It would be ace to read your views on this

p.s. I couldnt check if it says its a sample in HIStorys album book because my dads taken the cd out with him in his car lol :)

here it is:

that clip kinda reminds of stevie wonders superstition

I must apologize folks I reacted before I read the whole review of the song and that it states that MJ used it for the Remix.... But I suppose that he must of used it on the main bases when producing the orginal for the HIStory album and not just Blood on The Dancefloor/ HIStory In The Mix

anyways heres the review I forgot to include it in my 1st post

it's kinda cool..

that song came out..

Janet used that in one of her songs..

then MJ and Janet together used it again..

Makes me wonder if Janet presented it TO Michael with Terry Lewis.

That would be Rhythm Nation. Prince (who went to school with Jam & Lewis) has performed Thank You in concert. The Jackson 5 remade "Stand" another Family Stone tune.

'Thank You' by Sly & The Family Stone was used on the remix Scream Louder (Flyte Tyme Remix) which is on the YANA single and BOTDF:HITM. The version on YANA contain the explicit word but the version on BOTDF:HITM was the clean version.

Yep, I was gonna mention that the Rhythm Nation bass lick was based from Sly. There is also this great compilation CD called "Different Strokes by Different Folks" where other artists made their interpretations of Sly's greatest hits. Janet is on there w/ Rhythm Nation and Thank You put together for a great dance groove. People should go find that song. It's worth listening to.

MJ paid his own self since he owns Sly and the Family Stone's catelog. thankyouforlettenbemiceself again" was one of the first Funk Jams with a open thumping Bass slap going on.

Scream the song itself in regular version sounds like early Jam and Lewis Production IMO. i dig the Naughty by Nature re-mix by Kay Gee the best of the mixes.

Oh wow, I never knew Michael and Janet sampled this song. I love it, they havent even changed it much just added electric guitars and stuff. Awesome.

Oooh and by the way I just remembered I think I read in the BOTDF booklet that they sampled the song "thank you (for letting me be mice-elf again)" for the song scream

Damn...I don't like Scream as much anymore because that funky sample is what loved most about the song.
