My top 10 songs from the album, based on what I've heard:

1. Behind the Mask

Every decent vocalist can increase, decrease or sing completely without vibrato. So can Michael Jackson. And he is particularly apt at that- just as is his beautiful tenor was VERY apt as singing only in chest register, head voice and falsetto (rare- "What about us" is a good example)- whatever he felt like stylistically. Just as singers who sing in choirs are able to control their vibrato in order to create a homogenous sound.

I am also amazed by the huge amount of people that somehow became experts in "vibrato" which suddenly became a four letter word. Totally needlessly at that. As if any sung with a vibrato suddenly is a sign of "loser goat".

Michael was a huge experimenter and you can hear how he chose to give songs their own 'color' by adjusting his voice in different ways.

Some people seem to be extremely thrown by a slightly more mature MJ- just as people freaked out over the O2 announcement, over his voice, there seem to be a lot of people who seem to identify him by that high, bell like head voice of his.

If you listen to him talk in This Is It ('it's an adventure, a great adventure, nothing to be nervous about, blessings, blessing to all'), you get a pretty good idea about his range. He still had that head voice, but also a lot more to offer.

And I for one am still sad we don't get to hear the much more mature MJ anymore. Some of these tracks on that album are going that way- and I love it. I love that man's voice, especially the older he became. I LOVE that snort in Breaking News.

ok , hands down , my best song is "Best Of Joy" . Ok , sure , we all love the uptempo songs , but hes been there , done that . For me , i love hearing his VOICE , that soul he puts into his music . Best of joy is a stunning track ...

Breaking News seems to be the weakest song on the album judging from the lists.

I was just about to make the point of the more mature-sounding MJ. When I first heard that, I was completely thrown off. I didn't even think that he was really there, that he sent a body double to make the announcement for him. So I think we can all be assured about how spectacular MJ's voice was and still is. Don't judge abnormal material without fully thinking about MJ's voice.

I mean, I simply LOVE Hollywood Tonight and Behind the Mask, are soooo awesome!!!! Great sound, great voice, great music!!!!! Amazing tracks!

This little snippet of AD is great, but I think I rather the original leaked... but I can tell for sure untill I hear the whole song.

I have just one more question:

IF THEY HAVE HT, BTM, BOJ, AD ... WHY ON EARTH THEY WOULD CHOOSE BN OR HMH AS PROMOTIONAL TRACKS????????????

I could accept HMH (though I am not quite sure if I buy that story of the note at all :mello:), but BN was such a bad choice!! Not only for the division it brought to fans, but simply because is not half as good as the others I mentioned!

All this said, I respect the opinion of those who believe the Cascio tracks are 100% and I certainly respect the job Michael did there. Even when he is not singing there at full, that is also part of his job. I respect that.

But I can do without those track, especially for the negative connotation they have to me now :(

Someone should make a poll so that Sony can see what should be the next single from the album. My vote is for Behind the Mask & Hollywood Tonight. Beatboxing is great in both..

It isn't...atleast not to me, I think the "weakest" track (if I had to pick one) would be "(I like) the way you love me"...but really, the whole album is actually really really good.

BN is the least I love, Mostly I do not like the Jackson doubling, sound awful. lol


In rest I love all of them. I do not like to make tops, it's such a static amorf thing to do, I simply love those songs, and let them free, to become favorite of the day, or week, in tune with my moods...
I also adored Invincible... All Mike touched and created, all is so beautiful.... all of his albums.... :wub:

oh yea...I forgot how some "fans" were claiming the MJ that made the 02 announcement was a "fake" as well and sadly (and this is off topic so I won't mention it again) if the Casico's do show footage of MJ recording the songs in their home on Oprah Monday, I'm almost positive these same fans will claim it's a "fake/body double" there too...man I have come to truly DESPISE that word lol.

Anyway, back to jammin to this bomb album

after listening to the snippets (and I reserve to change my mind after I listen to the album in full) I kinda/partially agree. I mean it has a nice beat to it but it looks like it's simply added due to its lyrics against media.

THESE SONGS ARE AWESOME AND THE NEW MIX OF TWYLM IS TOTALLY AMAZING!!! But why does another day sound so deaD?! it sounds nothing like the snippet we got like a year ago!!

if they were to never debut BN and you all heard it for the first time you'd probably like it. but all the negative vibes made this track an automatic " 0.2/10". pfft

While I love "Breaking News" I feel that it's kinda redundant being on there considering "Monster" deals with the same issues, pretty much. That being said, I think (I Like) The Way You Love Me is the weakest, though that's mostly because it was on the Ultimate Collection.

What do you think of Mask? It is my favorite so far. I find that many of the songs are R&B or hip hoppish, but I am happy. I love guitars!!!!!!

Based on these snippets I like the album much more than I thought I would. I still can't warm up to Breaking News and that really influenced my initial reaction.

I want to hear the whole thing and I'm getting excited. It is great to see the promotion starting.
