I can totally understand that he does not want to perfom cause he wants his first comeback performance to be something special (and not 'wasting' it for a tribute). But I don't understand that he's not going to attend the show. Why not? I mean, he's in the US, he's got a 'new' album out and it would be good promotion for him. This isn't just any kind of event - this is the Grammys!

I understand that he doesn't want to perform and basically you're right, it's his choice to do what he wants but like mickyj I think this is a waisted opportunity. Not because he doesn't promote Thriller 25, but he could've had 'good' publicity for a change..you know..with all those tribute artists performing his songs etc.

but no seriously, i said to mark my words a few weeks ago that he wouldnt be there. why would he? its not HIS event. Michael Jackson is all about Michael Jackson.

Michael already has "Legend" award. Maybe some special prize?

whats the point attending the show just to say something he could say on the video? LOL He could use that time for doing something else. There's no use in going,just to go.

you guys AMAZE me...i swear. Did u really have you're heads up in the clouds that high to think MJ would go all out for this thing? This is NOT the comeback. The NEW ALBUM is the comeback.

And it'll be SO FUNNY when the new album comes out and all of ya'll will be back at MJ's feet again...after ya'll just dissed the hell out of him cuz of this T25 mess.

It's ridiculous! Every single bit of news that happens with Mj fans run around with "the sky is falling! The sky is falling!"

Mj didn't have to do CRAP for the grammys. Not even ACKNOWLEDGE it. But just like Smap Smap :rolleyes:, just like WMAs, just like the NJAs, just like Ebony and Jet and Vogue...he did give a crap and do something for them.

Without MJ it'll be just the same effect...these people are gonna do a tribute to MJ and it'll be free publicity for him. And that's that.

Appearing... yes, just appearing.... at the GRAMMYS for a tribute to you is hardly going ALL OUT! He could have just appeared to feel the love, and pay respect to the fans and those wanting to see him; as well as MOST IMPORTANTLY to improve his relationship with the grammys for future.

Maybe he's busy and doesn't want to spend 4 hours sitting in an auditorium for no reason other then to see some no doubt lame ass tribute? I don't know. Maybe he wants to spend the evening with his children or work on NEW music. A video is publicity enough. His face is still going to be seen on the telecast and people are still going to scream their heads off and clap when the video plays.

And the Grammys aren't any more relivent these days then the MTV VMA's or AMA's, lol. They just give the awards to talentless bozos who don't deserve any kind of reward. Heck, they haven't given Michael ANYTHING for his music since 1984. Show's how credible they are... NOT.

But APPEARING just to hear some people sing your songs...for WHAT? He heard that in the studio when they did T25 LOL WTH would he go just to get on stage and say "thank you I love you" when he could do it in a video. You act like it would do him SUCH A HUGE BIG DEAL just to go up there to say a few words...it'll have the SAME EFFECT if he says that SAME thing on video.

Why is it soooooooo dang important that he appears? It's THRILLER 25...NOT a new album. It's some youngins doing some of his songs...COVERING his song and he'd go to this thing JUSt for that? psh.

You are right. There is no use for him to go. It would just be stupid. I dont even care to watch the Grammy's. I would not want to waste my time watching people like Akon, Fergie or William. If MJ has a thank you speach I would rather watch it on YouTube.

your all making out like the grammys are for T25... he is being inducted into the grammy hall of fame twice for 'off the wall' and 'thriller' albums. most arists are lucky to even get a single song in there. are people forgetting this totally?

Number one Nebbby...he performs when he has something to perform. And he doesn't have anything worth performing now...he's not gonna rush and do these dumb remixes when he's got new material he's working on.

Number two damien...he's getting accepted in the hall of fame and that's why he's doing the video. I mean I don't know how much credit the grammys even HAS anymore, it's not like it's the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame or something...it's not as prestigious as it used to be. And MJ is accepting it and thanking them by video. And if MJ was THAT high and mighty that he'll rather accept awards than perform, or whatever...he'd BE THERE getting that award, if it meant that much to him. But obviously it doesn't and it's not a CHOICE between performing and receiving.

^^ I hope MJ doesn't listen to his fans at all cuz T25 is doing great and is probably is gonna be a GREAT catalyst for his next album...which is the POINT of all of that. Its not all about his fans. And remember what James Brown told MJ before he died too...

Because two of his albums are being inducted into the hall of fame and it's probably a thank you message, cause Michael never lets anyone do anything for him without saying thanks, lol.

I have to agree with J5master. The Grammy's are not prestigious as it used to be. Many of these award shows have turned trashy. Sad that everything has went down hill.

i can't think of any other current megastars/megaproducers in r&b and hiphop that fans wouldnt ***** about Michael working with.

Bingo!! Forget J5 they have been trippin for months creating expectations in their own heads. Will continue to do the same. Just don't get it. They WANT to see Michael just because they want to see him. Nothing to do with missed opportunities. Missed opportunity for what. This isn't a new album.

Just a question... Do they announce albums inducted at the actual Grammy Award ceremony? Coz I don't remember that ever happening (could be totally wrong here) :unsure:

agreed because its done on a panel system. is amazing that u can have an album that becomes the second biggest in history at the time with 5 number one hits, record breaking tour, and not receive ONE grammy.

Grammys are judged by a panel of people. All that needs to happen is have a couple on there who dont like MJ and he automatically doesnt win. WMA are the best coz theyre based on SALES!

the Grammy Award and the Recording Academy haven't changed - it's essentially the people buying, supporting and feeding lifelines to the music you hear today. Grammys and most major awards shows have always been about the masses and, imo, not a true recognition of the arts - this will be exmeplified when Rihanna wins over Amy Winehouse - so it's never been that prestigious but it hasn't lost its stature either, if that's what you mean.

But didn't Sony when first announced the news about Thriller 25 said there's going to be a huge promotion like tv appearances, adverts etc?
It's quite confusing then why isn't he turning out at Grammy?

I disagree with that because the Grammy Awards are not based on sales. They are judged by a panel of people.
