Aww, the power of MJ. That had to be an amazing moment seeing people coming from everywhere to see MJ on tv.![]()
Update to this story.....
Hello everyone how are you all! Well I just have a small update to tell you all from that night. I got married September 25 and my husband and I vowed through all the planning and saving for the Wedding that when we came back from the Honeymoon we would treat ourselves to a nice big Flat Screen TV.
So when we got back we did in fact return to that Sears where they had Michael's concert playing to buy our TV. They did not have it in this time though.
I told the sales person who helped us get the TV that the reason that we came back to this Sears was because of that night. He actually remembered that night he said (he said that was the first night they had that system set up and Michael's concert was the first to be played). He said they did have to rotate singers on the system up front, but that Michael's concert was played at least once every day where other artists will get played once every other day or so. And that whenever they did have Michael's concert in people would stop and watch for what he called the "Big Songs". And that some nights would be bigger than others, but that until they took the display down whenever they played the concert people would stop to watch Michael's concert.
So I was very glad to give Sears, and that one in particular, my business for giving me that memory from that night and a great story for me to tell all of you!
I just had to come home tonight and post this experience I had tonight with all of you.
So OK my fiance and I were in Sears tonight shopping. He was in the Tool department which was located right next too the Audio department. So when we were coming down the escalator to get to the Tool Department we can already hear Smooth Criminal playing and it's really loud too. But sounds great. At the doorway there was a huge flat screen TV with surround sound and they had playing in the DVD player Michael's concert from Bucharest. They had actually just put the DVD in and started it at Smooth Criminal. So people started to gather to watch him perform Smooth Criminal. I stayed and watched too. My fiance stayed for a few minuets then went on to the tools and I stayed there.
So the crowd kept getting bigger and bigger as the song went on. And as every person walked in, if they did not stop to watch the Concert for a few they did stop for a second to see what it was.
So once the song was over and he went into "I just can't stop loving you" the crowd did disperse a little. And I would say at most there was maybe 10-15 people staying to watch "Smooth Criminal" when it was on. But during "I just can't stop loving you" and then not too many stayed to watch Michael perform "She's Out Of My Life".
Then my fiance and I went to another part of the store to shop, but had to come back that way to leave because we had parked in that section. So when we came back Michael was just ending "I'll be there" from the concert. And more people where there than when I had left but not as many as when the DVD was first on.
But I knew what song was next. And I kept my mouth shut so everyone that was still there watching for the first time would be surprised too.
Then the music for Thriller started. And when I say this surround sound the TV had was great, and very very loud, it truly was. It was almost like you were at the concert.
So there me and my fiance are, with the other people that had been there during "Ill be there". Then we look around and people are coming out the wood work. A lot of the same people who had stopped for a second to watch the Concert when coming into the store had come back to see Michael perform this song.
People were dancing in the aisle at Sears like the Video (and the performance in the Concert), singing along, it was almost like being at a concert for real with people acting like that. It was great.
I am not lying, I would honestly have to say that there were maybe up to 100 people watching Michael perform "Thriller'. It was great it really was...
Then when that song ended and he went right into Billie Jean, then even more people appeared. By the time Bille Jean was in full swing there had to be 150 people there watching. Some people were crying, some laughing (but because they were having fun and enjoying seeing Michael perform) and like I said some people were dancing. And a lot where singing too. And a lot of us talked to each other too. I told people that I was going to come on here tonight and tell this story and that if they were not members of this site yet to do so find this post and also share your experience from tonight.
One person did have their camera with them, and took videos and pictures too of everyone watching. I told him to become a member on here and post them so you all can see too.
After Bille Jean me and my fiance did have to leave, but the crowd did not seem like it was thinning out either.
I just wanted to share that moment I had tonight with you all.
What a great way to spend a Friday night!
Last thing I expected to do tonight was to go to a Michael Jackson concert. Because that is what I feel in a way I experienced tonight. I know it's nothing close to seeing him live and in person, but I never did get the chance to do that, and now sadly never will. So I will take what I got tonight anytime.
What a great night!
