The only thing I have to say is that the VMA has lost its essence a long time and has become a joke. I have no desire to watch this award. :nono: From what I have read the comments on the social networks of those who attending, this year was shit. :puke:


About Justin :fear: .... I have nothing against him. He dances and sings cool, just that. Nothing more. And to me he imitates Michael shamelessly as many others do. You watch Justin dancing you see all the mannerisms and dance moves of Michael. Ok, he is a fan of Michael. Michael was a reference to it. But it seems that Justin and others can not create your own style and they stay in the shade of Michael. They always imitate Michael, try to be like him and worse, trying to dance like him. They are not capable. Nobody can sing and dance like Michael. :bugeyed :doh: These artists nowadays do not revolutionize anything. -_- Very sad and shameful the current scenario of the music. :puke:

Back to JT, wth does "president of pop" even mean? lol. I kinda found his performance a little...boring. But I've never really been a fan of JT tbh *shrugs*

I'm still waiting for the real performers to show up. I've been waiting a long time. Music is so dead and I don't think anyone in the mainstream really deserves the Vanguard Award.

I thought Willow Smith was terrified as Jada and Jayden were but it was worse what Miley did before that gif posted. :ninja:

I agree, the president of pop title is such a ridiculousness when Michael is the epitome of many musical genres, not only pop. About his performance, I don't know what you saw, there was no wow factor, same old, Michael did it first. Sure he has some charisma but it was predictably boring.

I will always defend Miley. She is actually one of my favorite people in the world. Not because of her talent although she can sing better then people realize but because she honestly doesn't give a crap. I appreciate that. That wasn't a publicity stunt as anyone who knows Miley knows that she is just a big showoff with a big personality who is known for having a good time. On top of that when did a foam finger become something sexy. Seriously people she was just having fun. It was the MTV awards not the grammy's. I am not saying it was a great performance as the whole damn thing was a mess but Miley didn't do a damn thing wrong and that shot of the Smith family is actually from GagGa's performance not Miley's.
There is also hypocrisy at play in that if Thicke had done that number with a group of scantily clad women no one would have said a thing but when it is Miley everyone loses their s*** over it.

Seriously? Just because not a fan of someone doesn't equal you hate them or are a hater. I know people who are not a fan of Michael's music but they don't hate him either.

I agree. The word hater is being thrown around so easily these days. You don't like an artists someone else does? You are a "hater". People who obsess about trashing Michael with slanderous false allegations - those are haters. People who say they do not like his music, aren't. And the same applies to anyone here who doesn't like another artist's music/dance/whatever and expresses that.

Totally agree with that. However, this discussion above started with one person calling JT's performance "phenomenal" and another one questioning this opinion.

I actually get along with people who don't prefer Michael's music. They have their likes and I have mine. As long as they don't say anything vile or vicious about Michael and vice versa. I hate Conrad Murray. That's real.

^Music Television :bs: "reality" crap tv to show promiscous drunken behavior instead. Even the award with Michael's name is a joke, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake don't have the best body of videos. At least Brit was more humble to acknowledge her admiration and influence he has on her.

I want from Estate to remove Michael's name (or anything) from MTV. I really don't want Michael's name on MTV. This MTV is totally different than in 80s, 90s...

They need Michael Jackson's name, fame... But Michael really don't need MTV. Plase don't give permission to use Michael's name anymore (any under award)

Grammy is ok, AMA is ok but MTV is not...

But nobody here said that hate Justin :bugeyed .... Ok, it just makes a cool job, just that. There is nothing phenomenal and it did change the history of music or revolutionize. And that's why I do not understand why he was deserving of this award. :unsure: His performance at the VMAs was cool, just that. Not surprised me and not left me open-mouthed. But the fact is that he is not on the level of Michael. No artist is on the level of Michael. -_- :fear:

People said haters going to hate here. That's why I said what I did. I never said I hated Justin. I didn't like the whole president of pop nickname when they can't think of something original. I think he should have mentioned Michael in his speech. I am not a fan but just because I am not and not wowed by him doesn't mean I am hater either. Making an untrue assumption. I felt offended by that.

I'm pretty glad JT won this award and I thought the performance was pretty cool (especially how it was performed all over the arena they were in). Personally, I don't expect every winner of this award to have the best collection of videos, just a number that are very good and I like quite a few of JT's videos so yeah. I think Michael's name should be left on the vanguard award. While he definitely wasn't the first to make music videos (and thats why I don't think he should've been the first to win the award, but I do think he should've won it earlier than he did), he certainly did pioneer them to a whole new level. Because his videos were almost always an MTV event and have strongly influenced a whole medium of entertainment, I think it's great they honour him via this way.

And to people who complain about MTV not playing music videos anymore ...really ? Times have changed. Music videos don't premiere on TV anymore, they premiere on the internet. Why would you go onto a music channel and wait for an indefinite amount of time for your favourite music video to come on, when you can have it within seconds thanks to YouTube/Vevo ?

Maybe they don't have the best line up of TV shows, but it's stupid to complain about it these days. Most people watch music videos through a new medium now and MTV have adapted... I mean, even then they still have 'Classic Hits' channels and the like that are dedicated to music.
 
I think they should keep his name on the award to remind people what he did. I will say that I thought his performance was better than they whole Miley thing. That wasn't about the music at all.
