Bruno for sure should be getting this in my opinion. I'm not sure if they don't wanna give it to someone that hasn't been on the scene for a less than a decade but.. He is by far the most talented artist out right now..

He can sing, produces, dances, performs, instrumentalist. He is full around an artist, no one out right now is as versatile.. No main stream artist anyway

JT is a media darling, that's why they praise him and overrate him even though he isn't that talented.

Björk has way more memorable and innovating videos than him like the one I posted earlier.

I totally agree with you too If there's an an actual or artistic reason as to why they are nude (similar to Gaga in Marry the Night as I mentioned in my last wall of text or Bjork in that video Snow White posted), then I don't have any issues with it.

Really? You're wrapping up Bjorks entire career into a music video where she's nude?

This Bjork video wasn't played on TV in the middle of the day or anything. Her videography isn't just her being nude. She's right up there with Michael on best body of work in her music videos.

And Bjork isn't or ever was trying to be some role model pop star for kids with her music, so I dunno where you're going with this. And neither has MTV, frankly.

And why are you even comparing this to MJ's music? If you mean when MJ cursed in HIStory songs, of course there's a clean version for radio (unless you mean the JEW ME line, which I'm sure he chose to edit out on later copies of the album).


MTV seems to censor stuff from bigger acts. The U.S. MTV banned Madonnas WHAT IT FEELS LIKE FOR A GIRL video, which is SO crazy. There were so much more darker videos at that time (even more so now), AS WELL as on primetime TV. Her video was actually pretty tame.



Anyhoo, Snow White is right. She deserves this award than MJ, but obviously this is about pop star status. Does MTV Europe Awards have an equivalent awards?

I understand what you're saying AtlasAir but the sole reason I posted that video was because for being the first one I saw from her, it blew my mind, no other female singers do it. Of course Björk has more amazing ones and she isn't nude. And there are worse things to see in the world than people without clothing for eff sake unless it's also "disturbing" watching two female-like androids kissing each other. My faves.

People always say MJ revolutionised music videos but the sad truth as we see from mainstream artists is they haven't really learnt, have they? It's still just quick music videos churned out for the masses. Not at all as exciting as MJ's

she's only vaguely nude, too, in Cocoon. Looks like she might have been wearing a bottom piece and maybe spray painted a solid color or something. It fits the song so well.

I respect that. My musical taste is different than yours. I listen to details in music and the overall song. And JT (together with Timbaland) does it very well. I enjoy ALL of his albums. He uses jazz as the basics of all his tracks. And then he blends different music styles to build the song further, using experimental stuff. And I like that.

Forget the meaning for a second.
Justin only has like 12 to 16 music videos (not including N Sync) to his name.

His videos aren't horrible by any means, but not worth this (silly) award.

^MTV has always been biased and unjust specially towards Michael, he deserved to win The Video Vanguard Award first, not The Beatles and David Bowie. MTV just helped him in the begining to reach a wider audience through his short films when there was no Internet or YT but he gave them the fame and status the channel carried until early 2000's, after that it was pointless and lost its credibility completel giving awards to people who don't even deserve them.

I'm a fan of JT but yeah I don't think he deserves this award. I know a lot of his songs/videos and there's none that really pop out to me and make me think wow he changed the game you know? I don't think any modern day pop star deserves the award. I haven't seen any music videos recently from any star were I really thought they were doing something creative and different. That's just my opinion though.

Most of those people though don't really think about what it means artistically (what's funny is that those people tend to kick up a stink which in turn just gives the artist more attention). I don't think anyone's denying that some artists use nudism for nothing more than attention. However, there are artists who use nudism artistically, such as Gaga or Bjork. You don't have to necessarily approve of nudity, and that's fine, it does not mean it isn't there.

Michael Jackson used nudism artistically in You Are Not Alone. I'm not entirely sure of the meaning (if there is meant to be one, which there probably is) as I haven't looked much into that particular video or the painting, but the scene was based off a 1922 painting called 'Daybreak', so there is no doubt artistic influence here.
