Re: Keep Your Head Up - The Great Debate

Come on!! It's not hard to do a fast vibrato like that! It's not been "processed" (OMG, I HATE THIS WORD NOW), it's a random video Jason shared to the people, because they thought it was Michael singing "Don't Walk Away" so he recorded it to prove it!!

processed vibrato on KYHU....my a$$

All right, but how do you know that the sound is pure JM's voice and nothing changed to it?

Re: Keep Your Head Up - The Great Debate

I could ask the same thing to every video Michael sings in or just any other artist... Seriously, what kind of question is that :/ ?

A serious question it is.

Show that video to any one of your friends or family and ask them the same question. Me, I'm not even going to dignify it. I know when to stop.

Re: Keep Your Head Up - The Great Debate

Welp, I see that person is now banned, for whatever reason. But in regards to the "blatantly obvious" comment regarding the vibrato on Monster being processed. At around 2:13, "tell me you like what you see", the vibrato continues long after the word "see" is finished coming out of the vocalists mouth. Then it's promptly cut, it isn't stopped, it isn't a natural ending to a vibrato, to proceed singing the next line, it's cut. Meaning it abruptly stops before the next line begins, that isn't natural, nor is it something a singer would do on purpose, as it makes the sound choppy. In other words, it's a sign the vibrato has been processed, reasons being? I don't know, but they've been computerized.

Probably because one line overlaps the other. Or they simply cut the vocals early to begin the next line. Doesnt mean the vibratto is computerized.

L.T.D. did you ever hear such an unnatural sounding vibrato and knowing for sure that it was not computerized? Some of these vibrato's don't sound to me like only clean human ontouched voice.

Re: Keep Your Head Up - The Great Debate

As someone pointed out to me the other day:

"Shes looking for a job.......She's working two jobs"

Great lyrics

Michael would be so proud.

sigh... i did like the song. but, this song doesn't grow on me. i mean when i listen to all other songs from michael, i like them more with more listens. they grow on me. but, this song is getting more boring.

Re: Keep Your Head Up - The Great Debate

Those lyrics could mean she's looking for a better job... then the two crappy ones she has right now.

Many parts of this song are lyrically pure MJ. Lines such as

"And she's dying inside everytime her baby cries"

"Gimme your wings so we can fly"

"We're killing up the life in the birds and the trees"

"And we're sucking up the air in the earth from under me" (MJ was on another Heal The Planet mission as evident on This Is It which makes it even more believable this song was mostly written by Michael)

"I wish the love would come today"

"All you need is love, I tell you I know it's coming soon"

"Everybody say that time is borrowed"

All of these lines are SO Michael Jackson. It has his songwriting all over it. It's one thing to say it's not his vocals (I believe it is), but to say Michael never wrote this song? That's pushing it. I can understand people have a right to their opinion, but let's get our marbles in order here and admit that these lyrics were written by only one person: Michael Joseph Jackson

Yes, that what I thought too.

The first line : She looking for a job and a FINER place to stay.

Working 2 crappy ones and trying to survive while looking for a better one.

it's an inspirational song.

Re: Keep Your Head Up - The Great Debate

Keep your Head up would do very well on Urban radio.

The first line : She looking for a job and a FINER place to stay.

it's an inspirational song.

It is rather unusual, given how the words have been phrased. If, by that line, it was meant that she was looking for a better job, then it would have been phrased as: "She's looking for a finer job and place to stay", rather than "She's looking for a job and a finer place to stay".

The reason why I feel they would have gone with the line, "She's looking for a finer job and place to stay", is to show that the word, "finer", is being used to describe both the job and the place. Thus, it shows she already has a job and a place, but she's looking for something much "finer". Of course, one could be more specific about things and word it as, "She's looking for a better job and a finer place to stay", but then the accumulated syllables probably wouldn't fit the melody.

With the line currently worded as, "She's looking for a job and a finer place to stay". Both of the subjects are seperated, and it becomes simply as that: She's looking for a job. She's looking for a finer place to stay. So, I don't think it's possible for one to fit the implication of "better" in there.

The best I can think of to explain this situation is that, assuming Michael did write this song, perhaps the lyrics weren't set? Perhaps, he was going back and forth about how to describe this woman's current situation? And if the songs are really as incomplete as they make it out to be, perhaps, they had no other choice then to piece in these lines that tell a completely different story, because there were no other takes?

Re: Keep Your Head Up - The Great Debate

Not only that, but 'She's working two jobs.......She's works in a restaurant night and day....'...

So, when does she work the OTHER job?

Re: Keep Your Head Up - The Great Debate

Not only that, but 'She's working two jobs.......She's works in a restaurant night and day....'...

So, when does she work the OTHER job?

It is possible to find a time slot as to where this second job begins and ends. But then we'll have to start defining the timing of one who works "night and day". Which can be quite repetitive and somewhat nitpicky.

For example, if we define "night and day" as what Michael mentioned in Workin' Day and Night, and that is, from sun up to midnight. Over here, sun up is around 6:30am, so that means working from 6:30am to 12:00am. That's 17 and a half hours of work for the first job. In which case, we could assume this second job is somewhat small, and perhaps, requires only an hour or so, after the initial job.

Given that the next line is, "She waits her life away", one could also assume that both of her jobs are that of a waitress. So, another way to look at things is that she has two seperate waitress jobs in the same restaurant. Whether that's possible, I'm not sure. If it is, then perhaps, both jobs share the 17 and a half hours of work.

But if it's not possible to have two seperate jobs as a waitress in the same restaurant, and one of her waitress jobs requires working from 6:30am to 12:00am, I do wonder if there are any restaurants (or any other job setting that require waitresses) that are open from 1am to 6am... Do note, this is in total disregard for the needs of rest.

There is another point that perhaps, the second job could be so trivial, that the singer completely disregards it when he sings, "She waits her life away". At which point, the first suggestion could still work.

Whatever the case, this seems to be too much of a nitpicky sort of argument for my liking, so maybe I'll just stop right here.

Re: Keep Your Head Up - The Great Debate

The woman obviously has a DeLorean.

Re: Keep Your Head Up - The Great Debate

I have proof that this track is all MJ

But to keep it simple....Listen right now to the Chorus ONLY

If you can't hear MJ right there, than you were never a MJ fan

The chorus does sound like Michael in parts but it's so over produced it's hard to tell. The verses Are NOT sung by Michael, it is obvious from the forced vibrato. I'm a singer myself, I know forced vibrato when I hear it and Michael never did that, his vibrato is very natural and he doesn't always use it on every single line like that.

With all three Cascio tracks, I do think that they were songs Michael was working on and more than likely he will have recorded bits to test them out (even before they were fully written) which would explain why the chorus sounds like him - it probably is but the rest isn't. Producers have mixed these bits with vocals from other singers (Malachi or whoever) and destorted the verses to blend in the vocals with Michael's. It's no wonder fans are split down the middle with this, what chance do we stand? Even a specialist will confirm it's Michael because they can't confirm none of it's him at all.

It was ultimately a rhetorical question :)..But thanks for the effort! lol

I would like to point out a couple of things, so I marked some parts in red and one in blue.
The red parts are the ones that, in my honest opinion, sound NOTHING like Michael Jackson. That's the worst effort Jason Malachi may have ever done at imitating MJ.
The blue part is THE ONLY ONE on the whole song which remotely resambles Michael Jackson.

Re: Keep Your Head Up - The Great Debate

^ That's the ONLY line that even REMOTELY resembles Michael Jackson? I'm sorry, no offense, but that's silly!!! Why would Sony ever release something on a Michael Jackson album that doesn't even remotely resemble Michael Jackson whatsoever.
