It's most likely too late to give him a new name that would be known all around the world but I think KING OF ENTERTAINMENT discribes Michael more than King Of Pop..

There is a reason why the media flocks to him like no other.. He's entertaining in EVERY sence of the word.

His music
his dance
his voice
his clothing
his personality

EVERYTHING draws people to him... It's pure entertaining.. I would rather watch Michael talk to a camera like in the Mexico deposition ALL DAY, than rather watch any other person perform in concert.. It's just drawing, there is something about that man that just DRAWS people.. EVERYONE.

You put Michael Jackson on in a room of people. MJ fans or not, they will all pay attention to what is going on..

Let me give you this example of what I did the other day.. I scanned one of his DVD's in the music department where it shows a preview of the DVD.. Smooth criminal played. By the time the 30 second preview was over, there was 6 people standing around the screen watching it with me..

It his title - his right - he earned it.
It part of his persona - not the man
but the STAR the performer Michael
is KING of POP .. as a Man I presume
his title is DADDY :wub:

Oh and as stated above Michael is a King out
side of being a performer_ His Title is King Sani
He was crowned in Africa - as a real King

I think it's pushing it quite a bit when people say he's the king of nearly everything when it comes to music.

Since when is saying he's the KOP = King of Everything When It Comes To Music?

And hell, Michael Jackson is my favorite artist EVER...meaning out of ALL the artists I listen to, he is KANG (as Steve Harvey would say). IMO, MJ is the king of music cuz he is my favorite artist. There you go.

If he can't have it...why should people like Justin Timberlake or Usher have it?
Michael is the original and still the best artist out there. Some people are just in denial or just ignorant and say that he self-proclaimed the name, King of Pop, but it was the people, his fans, who did so. There's no denying that Michael is the King of Pop. That's all three is to it. :yes:

Yeah I agree with all of that. Now of course Michael aint the end all be all of music and I don't think it's right when some fans act like no one else has made contributions to music besides Mike, but for me personally Michael is the King 'cause he's done it better than anyone before him or since. My fave artist for sure.

I don't see any fan saying MJ is the all, be all of music though. I think some people are just trying to start somethin when there's nothing lol

I hate when people call him the "Self-proclaimed King of Pop". He's not the one who came up with that title, but regardless Michael has more than earned the title. I mean Pop is short for popular music and who has been more successful than Michael or has been more influential than Michael over the past 25+ years? Right, nobody. No one deserves that title more than him.

I have to say that titles are not really important to be honest though, but I just don't get the people who have such a big problem with him being called that. He will ALWAYS be known as the KOP and the people who have a problem with that better just deal with it 'cause that title is so much apart of his persona and it aint going no where anytime soon.

It's important that he's the King of Pop because the people who claim he isn't grant the title to I.E. Justin Timberlake, which is a disgrace to MJ's accomplishments. I don't even feel like talking negatively about Usher/JT/CB that much, but I gotta do it if I'm in a position where putting MJ over them is necessary. It's just too much of a damn joke to fathom that Michael Jackson has been "dethroned" by any of the popular pop/R&B artists of today. How much does one have to accomplish before their place is etched in stone, until somebody actually surpasses his accomplishments?

I don't agree with your sentiment that Michael Jackson is the "King of Entertainment". That's rather ridiculous.
He is without a shadow of a doubt the true King of Pop (hence my screenname), but in order to be the King of anything, you have to cover ALL aspects of it. Entertainment covers much more ground than just music. It also includes sports and movies.
And the last time I checked Michael wasn't a star quarterback, a box-office draw, or an Academy award winner. Yes, as far as popular music go's, Michael forever changed the face of it. Sports and movies, well, those are two things he's never been able to conquer.
A title like "King of Entertainment" would be WAY to egotistical.
The King of Pop is good enough, in my opinion.

one of the Polish newspapers called him recently The Emperor of Pop

well..another way to look at it is, that T.O. of the dallas cowboys does the moonwalk, and tv telecasts it. sports announcers make MJ references all the time, and hollywood either makes a big bank off of him in movies, by either slamming him, or having cameos with him in them, that help create big box office success. in that way he can be called King of Entertainment. also..step up 2 has people doing his dances, and it's number 1 at the box office, currently.
 
I think when people say MJ's the King of Entertainment they mean that since MJ doesnt cover just POP music, that hes so diverse, and he knows how to work the industry, and hes a great performer and he KNOWS how to entertain and hes the MOST entertaining to probably any given person on this board, he therefore is the KING of ENTERTAINMENT. Mj is the most entertaining thing to ME, and so hes the KOE lol

Not to mention that he has been setting faSHION TREND SINCE HE WAS 11 years old. He has people waking down the catwalk to his music and his fashion, also ice skating and many other entertainment encorporate his music and dance in their activities. Shops put o his music to draw customers in.:punk:
 
Because he didnt write/create all of the pop songs that have impacted music. He didnt create the music videos, or even the concept of modern music videos, and he certainly cant dance and sing as well as Michael can lol. Sure he helped produce 2 of the biggest albums of all time, but it is MJ's hand that wrote billie jean and Mj's voice that sung it, and Mj's feet that performed it that had a hand in creating music history. And that goes for any of MJ's work. MJs success didnt stop after Thriller and Bad. And his impact didnt stop either.

not to mention, a tv show was on a few years ago, called 'Knight Rider'..where the hero was named Michael. and they had an episode where they said the whole entertainment industry, especially, circuses were halted by the entertainment juggernaut known as Michael *****n. so....here we have a tv show writing a deliberate script, referencing the King, and naming their hero after him, cus they obviously thought, that at that point, the name Michael must mean success. the hero also always wore a black leather jacket, a lot of black and had curly hair, and the hero's aura was definitely MJ influenced. there was a return of that show in movie form, recently. and now the hero's son is named Mike, as well.

Quincy had no respect in the pop world until MJ hired him. Quincy had to prove himself MJ did not, he had already done that. Quincy became world famous on the back of Thriller. Watch how happy he was when MJ called him on stage to share the limelight with him. MJ gave quincy the respect he deserved, but Quincy was a producer. He did not sing the songs.
Don't forget, also that MJ refused to put out the songs as they were produced the first time around and quincy had to do them again. Yes, even quincy said they were horrible. Why were they horrible when he did them in the first place? MJ was the one who refused to release the album cause he wasn't happy with it. Now quincy share in the credit.

I've never thought I'd find a thread like this on a Michael Jackson fan board.
A couple of months ago they said on bbc1 that Michael's not 'influential' enough, now his own fans are wondering whether he should be called the king of pop or not. I feel like singin 'Where is the love?' for some reason.
I hope Michael will come back soon cause damn some people are bored.
I don't get it, It used be so great, during the trial everybody was worried about Michael & wished him well and I guess we were kinda like a big family. Of course there were plenty of misunderstandings - as usual but it wasn't that bad.lol
Now, everytime I'm on here, people are goin mad cause they didn't like Michael's new coat or somethin. LAWD have mercy.

I'm sorrry if this has been brought up, my eyes are burning I'll read everything later.. But I thought I read somewhere Michael said he didn't like pop music.
 
Dont get me wrong!....I love MJ and most of him music! cant wait for his next album!
its just I feel that some mj fans look at him as he is somthing lager than life. and that he is the only important musician that still makes music.
And it got me thinking...think of all the other humanbeiings that dose really importatnt jobs for wolrd peas and makes good music that never get the etention mj dose
