Michael Jackson was reportedly axed from the Grammy Awards after making a series of "diva-like" demands.

The 49-year-old singer - who was scheduled to appear at the ceremony earlier this month for a tribute marking the 25th anniversary of his album 'Thriller' - allegedly infuriated event bosses by insisting the whole evening be dedicated to his career.

Jackson is believed to have asked the show's presenters to refer to him as 'The King of Pop' at least 30 times throughout the night.

He also wanted a new award to be created just for him and presented to him by an honouree of his choice, according to the New York Post newspaper.

Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich, who had been desperate to get Jackson to appear at the show, is said to have retracted the invitation when the demands got too out of control.

Jackson had been hoping to promote his re-released version of 'Thriller' - entitled 'Thriller: 25th Anniversary' which features collaborations with stars including will.i.am and Kanye West.

The album went on sale the day after the Grammy Awards on February 11.

Tabloid Junk!!

Becuase no one ever heard of them and they are NOT POPular music

Yes Michael does look very regal and kingly at times .

you dont have to call MJ KOP or think of him as KOP
thats your perogotive .. many stars have titles
Its show biz ... and when they retire the Title
is still theirs ..

Why are you so concerned about Michael being KOP ??
Seem you are just trying to stir the POt --

you Just like controversy.
and you are starting to repeat yourself -

Pleas don´t get me wrong!...im a huge mj fan...and has been that for many many years!
Is just one thing I dont like white mj and his fans. and that is all the focus on him being best, king, biggest, most important and all that that i dont like. MJ has had alot of help to get where he is.
there are many other music genius that dont behave like they are king or god. that dont set up statues in the themsen river. think of all the people that works for peas every day that never get a statue!...all mj dose is singing and dancing. and yes he dose som charity. and so di I and probobly you!

people that are big dont have to do everthing thay can to tell the world that they are big. the world will just know it. Bu mj needs his crazy clip videos of screaming fans to show the world that he is some sort of a king

No, he doesn't.

And I believe the statue-thing happened about 13 years ago, and about 10 years ago his latest tour...So this point is superfluous. Some people literally die to receive something new from him and want him to appear on stage stronger than ever and confident and stop being a recluse or too humble, while others complain about things that happened ages ago and that are also interpreting poorly, while others complain he doesn't do a damn thing or never does a thing completely right.

So complaints after complaints after complaints result in...nothing at the end of the day.

Edit: I was responding to this particular post, not to the topic. This title The King of Pop is a poor one, because all his life he excelled in many more types of music, he tried everything and made everything sound wonderful. So this title is a limited one to him.

haha...no it is not!...get real people!....as we love mj we can also be critical. that what art is all about!

I say you need a reality check. And the will to move on to the future, because you are living in a past that you also poorly interpret, but I don't have time to further counter your interpretation. I'll just say this: you are dropping to very rushed conclusions.

Diane Dimond and Nancy grace love MJ too, so did the guy who made that Ch4 nasty video, he claimed to be a fan. Incidently, so is martin Bashire, so you are in very good compamy, just get in line, we have heard it all before. I have always said the the people who have hurt MJ the most were 'FANS" of his.

It is not up to you to tell other people who they should worship or who should be their god,.You are presumptious if you feel you have that right. Leave people alone to do with their freedom what they chose. Go ahead and choose your god. Let others decide who should be theirs. It is called freedom.:)

Why do you keep this thread open anyway...it offers nothing more but arguing and it hurts the fans and Michael's contribution to music. He has NOTHING TO PROVE PERIOD!!!

Thats way you have to respect my feelings on some of MJ move and that I dont like the king title.

im a fan of him music. and thats what he is. a musician period

This thread is absolutely pointless, started purely to creates an argument and to agravate fans. Not good.

nationtonation, i think the problem is you started an argument but provided no substance to back it and you're the one continuing the debate and then asking why people are all over you.

but you're right on one thing - fans certainly can and should be critical if it's within reason. so constructive criticism is usually favoured LOL. but it would be weird and unreasonable to think something or someone is so perfect as to be ridden of any criticism.

'cause some MJ fans have big egos! lol
LOL.LOL.LOL.
I've never thought I'd find a thread like this on a Michael Jackson fan board.
this is something that comes up a lot and i don't understand. just because this is a fan-site, why do people assume we can't debate such things? are we meant to be that subjective as to not have balanced reasoning? sure you always get extremes on both sides (as evident by the two quotes), but still... it's degrading to the fan community to suggest such things.

I will not look at myself as extrem!...my opinions are not very bad about mj. and not somthing to get really upset about. Im not a mj hater. I love mj. he has been there most of my life, and i have every CD.
I think some of you are overreacting!...but that is typical hard core mj fans.

Does Michael think he is a god or Jesus? Do we think he is God or Jesus? No. You have a wrong opinion, which is why we counter it, it is never wrong to have opinions and never wrong to counter the wrong ones

You are yet another one of those people making Michael fans obsessed and posessed by him, and while there are some who truly are, I, for instance, as many others, am not. This man deserves his money and the love he receives, and I believe you also inject some jealousy of him in your lines, whether you like to admit it or not. Money has not always been his best friend, his many so-called friends have proved to be two-faced people and also traitors, and the fans...as much as I hate to admit it, but many have also let him down, like Datsymay pointed out. And no, I didn't buy anything he released and know when it is the right time to criticize, especially if I have all the right reasons to. But you are coming with memories of what it looks like undeniable Jesus- like manifestations to some, in times when he is not even showing himself or not even performing, so we have to dig the past for things that were wrong and nibble at those instead.

Don't be attributing silly and already tired notions of what a real entertainer and a real fan are supposed to be like, not to mention opinions of how superior Michael thinks he is comparing to us, the unfortunate mortals. He is one of us, at the end of the day, right? One random argument on this is him being willing to speak and befriend and collaborate musically with anybody, from a poor, helpless creature to unknown people, to famous people, and how he values those that treat him for who he really is. Oh, but wait a minute...all people don't talk to all people, irrespective of who they are, not to mention 'almighty celebrities'...So, yeah, you get the point.

It is not easy to be him and probably you would like to be reminded or noticed about what he said about himself years ago: "I guess you could say it hurts to be me". He has lived the worst of times, as well as the best of times, he has been through hell and back, so don't hint at him having been more fortunate than most of us or a carefree god, because you are totally wrong. Today, for the first time, though, I see a peace of mind and an ethereal bliss that he deserves and that will last him.

He is a brilliant artist, yet you don't see him overexposing himself like others do, or posing for every interview or being present to every award show. He is not always sure of himself and sometimes needs support. I wonder since when gods (as in people who think themselves as perfect and the most talented, independent ones on earth) 'lower' themselves into working with younger, less professional people or befriend and help people in need? Or maybe you're going to also say that it is for the image...

I don't know why I even bother replying, really. It becomes boring and annoying to repeat and overexplain things. And more and more threads are starting to become helpless and are not closed.

Deems like you intention all along was to attack the fans, and you have gone about it in a round about way. You attacked MJ because you knew they would defend him and now you are attacking them for defending him. Typical.
Diane Dimond payed $2000 dollars for an MJ fedora on e-bay, she has all his records, including Thriller. Yes, she is a 'fan' too.

wow.
You call me a hardcore fan just because I don't agree with you?

This thread makes me sick. We've waited for so damn long, and now when we finally have somenthin to be happy about, y'all are arguin...

King Of Pop is too limiting..

KING OF ENTERTAINMENT

Sometimes I wish the 'King of Pop' was not so stuck on Michael so KING OF ENTERTAINMENT could be adopted in, but King Of Pop is SO prominant for him, a NEW title would not kick off big..

He's entertainment in every sence of the word.. On and Off stage, in and out of the studio

I observed that some ppl like to pretend that he's a fan, ok, maybe you're a fan of his music but not the man himself, you're worried that some fans love him so damn much and as if the title given to him post a threat to you and keep arguing the never ending stuff and keep going on and on about he shouldn't be called the King of Pop, when no artist in any musical genre and in history and in present have achieved anything like he has achieved.

i've never came across a fan board that a fan said he love his idol but instead of being happy for him when he worked hard to be honoured that title, he has to make a fuss about it.

And when some fans trying to tell him nicely and give him all the reasons and drew out every points to try to educate him on the title thing he's so concerned about, they are called the "typical die hard fans".

strange.

King Of Pop is too limiting..

KING OF ENTERTAINMENT

i agree but not because it's too limiting but that it's too competitive LOL whereas no one can touch Mike when it comes to modern entertainment.

still, this whole thread is yet one more reason why monarchy should be erased from the face of civilisation :)

Well i can admit that it was wrong of me to say that mj looks at himself like god or jesus. I didnt really say that. but i understand that some of you may look at it that way.

but I really do think that some of oyu are overreacting!...this is not a mean thread!!!!
If I dont think or like the king of pop title that is my case. dont hate me for it!
