Madonna Appreciation thread - For fans

I hate how MAdonna fans are saying how Michael sounds like shit live, such as on Bad tour. After Elton John continued to remark about Madonna's lip synching at superbowl, Madonna fans then referred to Michael's superbowl performance how he lip synched even when he wasn't dancing and got a lot of praise for it. UGH!!!! F*ckin frustrates me!!!!!!!!!

I'm a Madonna fan and haven't heard any mention of MJ (good or bad) in association with Elton John's tacky remarks. I'm not sure why Elton is spouting off about M "lip syncing" when in fact she rarely has. She's almost always performed live minus a few performances. At the very least she used a backing track. Elton needs to get the bee out of his bonnet and carry on with his own life instead of pissing all over Madonna. Did he want to perform at the Superbowl or something? Maybe that's what has him so ticked off (or the fact that the only way he has been able to get press or buzz is to mention Madonna's name). Who knows.:crazy

Thank you. As I said, I think Elton John is very talented. But personally, I'm getting really tired of him talking trash about Madonna. He needs to get himself in the media based purely on his own artistry. He doesn't have to like Madonna. But he doesn't have to say such nasty things about her either.

The ironic thing about the Elton comment is that he said it after the Reinvention tour which was all live (apart from maybe one song) and had her best live vocals ever (check out Lament, Deeper & Deeper or Mother & Father). If he'd have said after Blonde Ambition which had quite a few mimed songs then he may have had a point.

I think after he said it though that he didn't really know if she mimed or not, but he said it anyway.

It's what he's known for nowadays anyway so he just lives up to that. It's not like M hasn't said a few things for shock value in the past.

For my money, Madonna is the best live act ever.

The cover for her new album "MDNA" has been revealed! :wild::wild::wild:

What do you think? I think it looks - like the single cover - great! I love the way the colours are used in this cover!

Don't forget:
'MDNA' will be released on March 26 and you can pre-order it on iTunes from February 3 - February 6

I'll definitely preorder it! There's already a countdown for the album in the iTunes Store :wild:

BTW, the soundtrack for WE ('Masterpiece' is included as well) is now officially available on iTunes, too. The CD format wil be released February 7!

I like the new album cover also. While "Hard Candy" was a decent album in my opinion, I haven't been this excited about a new Madonna album since "Confessions On A Dancefloor" in 2005.

It's gorgeous! I love the colors. I think this may be her best and most interesting album cover since RoL. Also, Madonna looked lovely on Leno last night. I just hope she gets rested for her performance this weekend because she's stated numerous times that she is stressing for obvious reasons. She's a total pro so I know she'll pull it off and then some. I too am incredibly hyped for this album. I think it's the fact that it's actually getting proper promo. It's been so long! I'm loving all this attention.

Well on this particular Madonna forum I joined, some agree Michael sounded like "shit" live. I didn't say anything. But it frustrates me. Still tryna cope with haters. Oh well.

Looks spectacular. Madonna is gonna knock this mother out the park! I wish it were the weekend already. The anticipation is killing me!!! :woohoo:

P.S. I've read some complaints from certain snarky people saying that Madonna shouldn't be doing the Superbowl. That it's not her audience and no one wants to see her. Sure, these are most likely haters and ageists (I mean did anyone complain about Bruce Springsteen and other "over the hill" acts?) but I just think it's silly because of all the bizarre choices they've had over the years and even Janet did the halftime show once upon a time (how can we forget?).

The ironic thing about the Elton comment is that he said it after the Reinvention tour which was all live (apart from maybe one song) and had her best live vocals ever (check out Lament, Deeper & Deeper or Mother & Father). If he'd have said after Blonde Ambition which had quite a few mimed songs then he may have had a point.

exactly! madonna is singing live a LOT MORE these days, and sings live MUCH MORE than janet who still lip syncs to re-recorded vocals. this is why i'd rather see madonna than janet.

on the re-invention tour, madonna only lipsynced the first TWO songs ("vogue" and "nobody knows me"; the former due to choreography and yoga poses, the latter had autotune for effect).

on the confessions tour, only the OPENING two songs (future lovers/i feel love) were lipsynced (and sometimes it was sung live though madonna did struggle with the long high notes)

on the sticky and sweet tour- madonna FINALLY sings "vogue" completely live without a backing track for the first time. there are only canned autotuned (for effect) vocals on half of "holiday" and "frozen" on the 2009 leg, and a loud backing track for the finale 'give it to me" (a great energetic closer but awful to sing live- both too high and too low for madonna to sing). however, the flipside is that madonna started to sound AWFUL again on the fast songs ("human nature", "music"- EUGH) due to constant dancing (but she still sounds quite decent on the slower songs).

so elton is wrong on so many levels. he should shut up and just stick to his own thing.

however, maybe the superbowl will make madonna lipsync, isn't it the tradition? if madonna does sing live, will she improve on sticky and sweet?

The Superbowl performance will only be around 10-15 minutes so she will do a great job. It's not like a concert where a performer fatigues both physically and vocally. ^

I am actually looking forward to this. I like Madonna and these disposable pop starts of today actually make me miss Prince, MJ, and Madonna, and really long for their return. (I hope the Estate can do better next time. IMHO).

Her album cover looks great. I hope it is a good one. I for myself, bought Hard Candy and I have to say it was a really good album.

This will be my first half time show in ages. I am watching it just for Madonna. Don't let us down!!! :) :)

Here's the full Jay Leno interview that aired yesterday:

There are some interesting parts in it.

For example, Madonna is talking about her Like A Virgin VMA Performance 1984 (you know, that performance where she came down from that huge wedding pie in her infamous wedding dress and rolled across the floor etc...and she caused a scandal because of the performance).
She's saying the performance actually went wrong, because she lost one of her shoes when she came down from the pie, that's why she started rolling across the floor :D And she is saying that after the performance, her manager told her that she killed her career with that performance :D (I guess he was wrong...)

And she's also explaining what her new album title "MDNA" means:

1. It's a wordplay with her name "Madonna".
2. It means Madonna's DNA (M + DNA)
3. It means the drug ecstasy, because its chemical name is MDMA

So the meaning is a triple entendre, like Madonna says :D

I'm wondering if that will cause a bit of controversy that she used the name of a drug for her new album...But hey, controversy and Madonna have never been strangers to each other! ;)

By the way, tomorrow at 11 am EST Madonna will give a press conference about her Super Bowl Performance and her new album, it will be aired live on NFL Network (in the US)

I can't wait! Madonna's new era has started :wild:

I'm no big fan of Madonna, but why the heck is Elton John so obsessed with her? I'm not really following either him or Madonna, so I was pretty surprised to find out about their feud recently. I thought Elton John was more classy than this.

I hate how MAdonna fans are saying how Michael sounds like shit live, such as on Bad tour.

Michael sounded like shit on Bad Tour? They gotta be kidding. (Especially with some of the Madonna concert videos I saw on YouTube...) And to be honest it's a bit rich coming from a Madonna fan, since Michael was a so much better singer than her. I also think Michael's songs generally tend to be technically more difficult to sing than Madonna's.

They must be REALLY frustrated about Elton John's comments, which I understand but I don't know why the heck they have to trash Michael for it.

Can you believe many many MaDoNnA fans on this one site I am on hate Hard Candy? I thought it was genius!!! That it was a throwback to her first album.

Fans are definitely divided on it but I feel the same as you do. It was a throwback to her first album and her best pure pop album in years. It was mostly recieved very well by critics and they tend to agree with us (Rollingstone Review). I think in time more and more will realize it. It seems to be the case with most Madonna albums. At first they are loved, then time passes and fans become more opinionated and split, and then after an album or two people look back with fondness.

I don't know the exact time but she will be performing this Sunday on NBC (check your local listings).

Hey Travis, watch the press conference! It's for the Super Bowl, she's answering questions about her performance!

I absolutely ADORED Hard Candy!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember listening to it 24/7 LOL!!!!There's not a single track that I didn't love!!!

It deserved more sales and a LOT more credit.

Preview of the new video!

Wow!!!!Can't wait for full video!!!!!It has been taken down now but I managed to watch it earlier. : )

And of course she will totally show who's the real Queen at the superbowl!!!!!!!!!So excited!!!!

This is the funnest video she's ever done. You can tell she really enjoyed herself. And how incredible does she look? Wow! The Marilyn part is mindblowing in the sense that she looks EXACTLY like she did in 1990 during the Blonde Ambition era. Here Madonna is 30 years later and the world is still paying attention, maybe now more than ever. This is shaping up to be one of her biggest "comeback" eras ever. All the support she is receiving is rocking my world. She even has Clear Channel backing her up and launching a worldwide promotional campaign and as we all know... Clear Channel can make or break your chances at success. I'm so hyped for this Sunday and of course for the album itself (MDNA).

The song is out on iTunes and the album is available for preorder as well (iTunes has a special 18 track edition)!

P.S. The album is already #1 on iTunes! :punk:

I think the vid is great! It expresses much fun and Madonna is painfully sexy in it! Unbelievable this woman is 53!
The song itself is definitely not one of her best, but I think it expresses very much fun too and it's perfect for the Super Bowl!

And to everyone who likes Madonna too, please buy her new single "Give Me All Your Luvin' (featuring Nicki Minaj & M.I.A.)" on iTunes!
Also, if you're interested in her new album "MDNA" too, you can exclusively preorder it on iTunes until Monday and you also get an exclusive remix for pre-ordering it!

The MDNA album is already #1 in the iTunes charts in almost every country, including the US!

And here are the current iTunes charts of some countries for her new single:

US #14
UK #21
Germany #21
Brazil #1
Poland #1
Italy #4
Spain #2
Finland #26
France #44
Czech Republic #1

That's quite good considering the single has been released today.
