Merged - AEG Live: Potential Three-year World Tour and Release of New Album

Wow, EC, you are so lucky. You got your MJ vacation all planned out. You must live in the UK to have such a low cost.

This couldve never started in America. These promoters and mike are very savvy. This has setup bigs things for him now. In my mind Europe Asia first up was always going to be the best strategy. Nothing to do with USA fans at all it's just the same people gunning for him for the 15 years are basically still around. He can silence those mofos as soon as he sells out 50 shows in london...oh.. That's right he has. :D patience is needed USA fans, miccuh is coming!

Rickd, is this the 1st time in a long time you've been so EXCITED and upbeat????

I know...it feels good, doesn't it...?

I totally agree with your assessment... Mike and promoters were very savvy to start in London....and break records...

Michael's phone must be burning off the hook with calls... of his A-list friends wanting tickets....and artist - musicians wanting to be touring with him,...

love it ... love it.. love it..

Rasta - have to admit it really has got me excited. And I've been reading your optimistic posts for a long time like years lol and I love them especially the rasta atv 101 course ive been through haha.

But yes! I am excited and I'm just so so proud of michael annnd my faith in humanity is being restored too. In the end the public voted with their wallets. A million tickets sold people just can't argue with that and it's just the beginning. Haters - all the have left is the no show card.

How are you gonna tell me michael doesn't know how important this is? These shows are up the with Motown 25 in terms of cementing legacy. He HAS to and WILL get it right. No question.

At 6 in the morning when mj stepped of that bus I got the same shivers and choked up emotions as I did on verdict day. To me, the recent events are his vindication. Every aspect of this concert series speaks to it. The people have lapped it up he didn't have to explain himself or anything and yet the love shown by millions of people from 100s of countries globally? Cmon now - nobody has that pull.

Rasta my faith in michael ability to be relevant has been challenged many times - you know how I am. My hope is that the people around him are who they say they are because while excited I do t think the sun shines out of tohme/Phillips arse. They have alot to prove as well not to fans but to michael. He DESERVES this legacy.

Fuckin bring it on, all of it. I wanna see what this genius of a man has up his sleeve. Oooh and what is 300 mill debt when you make a 100 mill overnight? That's what they media don't understand - he hasn't been able to do his JOB. Lol.

No....I am in the US!
I got airfare for $560 minus a discount.

Ah... I shouldn't have gone after your post with my trivia Rick. I love what you said and so agree. I felt the same, that this was comperable to verdict day. This was the final judgement he had to get through and he passed with flying colors.

Awesome post rickd. Isn't this just the most fantastic thing ever? I never doubted Michael man, I always knew he had this in him, I always knew, despite what everyone said, that Michael could take over the world musically whenever he wanted, and he has. I was just waiting for Michael to take that first step. He needed some encouraging. Who wouldn't after what he's been through. But now he sees that there is no greater star or more important artist in this world then him. He's it and I know he'll come through on all of this. It's his time once again. He was just a sleeping giant.

I never thought of it that way...it is truly like a vindication...which brings to mind T-mez... he must be smiling right now about this 50 show sellout...hope Michael got tickets for him...LOL...

and you know every artist in the industry knows what Michael just accomplished last week... every one of them...its just another bar set by MJ...

any ways...hang on .... you're about to get goose bumps... Michael only just begun...

You're thinking the same thing I'm thinking. Which brings me to this question....

Is there a nice arena or concert hall in or near Gary, Indiana where Michael can perform?

MJ needs to visit the Southern Hemisphere and see us Down Under! Please??

theres a baseball stadium lol..but he would have to come in summer!
theres a star plaza theater in the next town many celebs come to perform but i wouldnt say its big. id say the area is too small.

chicago is the closest best thing. if your talking near gary. but michael doesnt even come to chicago! you would think he would come to the midwest near his home town fans and perform. espeically now. makes me wonder why not chicago? its considered second city. that would be nice. its not only l.a. or new york or vegas.. america has alot of big cities mike should consider:) (makes it easier for travel for some fans too in the middle of the country.) heres dreaming.

It’s highly possible that Michael Jackson’s new 50-concert run in London is part of a three-year master plan that could net the King of Pop a staggering $500 million! I’ve talked all weekend long with my old Fleet Street pals and discovered a goldmine of gossip nuggets!
There’s a solid rumor that when Michael’s first England run ends in September and resumes again there in January that he may well do a series of U.S. concerts. Although AEG wants him to appear in Las Vegas, it’s more likely it will be in New York or L.A. where there are arenas with 15,000 to 20,000 seats.
“The London ticket sales were really a testing of the waters,” one source told me. “There’s no question that Michael and AEG are discussing a world tour now.”
AEG is the giant concert promoter that also controls the new Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and The Colosseum at Caesars Palace here. In fact, owner and Denver billionaire Phillip Anschutz had to give his OK and the guarantee to the company to sign Michael to the $50 million to $100 million earnings commitment in London!
To date, AEG has been able to secure insurance for only the first 10 shows. However, Anschutz is prepared to self-insure the remaining shows in Britain, but negotiations over large premiums with Lloyds of London underwriters are continuing.
Here’s what else I learned:
*Michael is now back in L.A. where the show’s strategy and rehearsals will get underway with director-choreographer Kenny Ortega. Michael is already plotting a new dance routine to outshine his moonwalk.
*Vegas superstar Ne-Yo will join with Will.I.Am to complete Michael’s album, which will be released at the same time as the first concerts. Ne-Yo is scheduled to perform in July on one of the open alternating dates at 02 Arena.

Ne-Yo.

*It’s rumored that a new 3D version of “Thriller” will be produced in time for the London premiere July 8! AEG’s London chieftain Randy Phillips commented: “There will be a new Michael Jackson single before the first date.” He also hinted that the new album might even be given away free to fans who attend the shows. “Michael has got some new music, and he is looking for a new way of disseminating his material to his fans.”
*Michael was wooed for two years by AEG for the London gigs. When he decided to green light them, he told them it was for his financial future and that his children were now old enough to see him in concert. Kenny, who produced the “Sirens of T.I.” on the Strip, is promising the most elaborate and fabulous spectacular ever staged!
*Phillips revealed: “Michael wants to use some technical effects that have never been seen before.” London insiders say that could include an opening where he duplicates Criss Angel or other Strip magicians by floating over the stage and landing on a center mark!
*A small army of Michael Jackson look-alike dancers might be recruited as a backup troupe to handle the more challenging routines so the 50-year-old singer won’t be strained during the nightly 100-minute production, his first since 1997.

Michael Jackson appears in London to announce his final 10 concerts in the British capital this summer.

*First headlines out of London indicate that Rod Stewart might rent Michael his sprawling mansion on a 180-acre estate 4 miles outside London.
On a final note about the current L.A. activities of our on-and-off Vegas resident: The proposed April 21 auction of his Neverland estate can go ahead for now with promotion, advertising and catalog mailings at least until an April 3 court hearing. Apparently, Michael wanted to keep the gates to Neverland that were listed in the auction catalogs, and that is one of the sticking points.
Vegas DeLuxe will continue to monitor the auction, as well as the concerts as the July premiere ticks closer. Remember I will be there on opening night to send back live reports from the concert that you’ll only read on Vegas DeLuxe as it happens!

I really hope that US Tour he planned is true, but I wanted him to tour in Canada too. Canadians wants a chance this time.

this is so exciting . i can not wait. i really hopes he does some shows in new york .the shows sound like they are going to be the biggest and best shows ever. i hope michael is having fun doing his rehearsals .

That article sounds like someone browsed through these forums and put together a list of so-called facts haha. MJ look-alikes as back-up dancers? Come on now :)

Ain't that something? It kind of hurt me to hear that. Michael should know how popular he is, but because people have treated him so rotten for so long, I guess his confidence was low. Well hopefully now he knows and his confidence is right back up there.

That would be for the past 15 and half years . That the
US Media have treated Michael rotten:mat: I think he should Tour the US too. and show those freaks like Diane diamond, TS ..etcc that he still is the King and always have been. I JUS SAÝ THIS, LONG LIVE THE KING OF POP MICHAEL JACKSON.. I LOVE HIM SO FREAKING MUCH. I EVEN LOVE HIM MORE THEM MY OWN FAMILY. I guess it will be hard for him to leave his Kids for 3 Year World Tour

:timer:See you In july Michael

robin leach is so fake. the other week he was saying mj sint doing any shows. all that guy does is cut and paste everyone elses articles and then claim it as his own

"The truth is our deal is in phases and the only phase he's agreed to is London. It's very possible there are other cities. We call it his Capital Market Residency."

Exclusive details on Michael Jackson's tour from promoter Randy Phillips

Posted by Melinda Newman

Michael Jackson in Paris? C'est possible. Munich? Wilkommen!
Hitfix just interviewed AEG Live president/CEO Randy Phllips, the man behind Michael Jackson's comeback slated for this summer at the O2 Arena in London and he told us the London shows might not be the end. As previously reported, Jackson sold out 750,000 tickets for 50 shows.
"We could have done 200 shows if he was willing to live in London for two years," Phillips says.
Phillips also cleared up something for us-sort of. In his very, very brief appearance at his own March 5 concert announcement (thanks for showing up, MJ), Jackson said "These will be my final show performances in London," leaving unanswered questions as to whether the U.K. concerts were his last shows ever or just his last shows in London.
"What he meant was London," Phillips tells Hitfix. "The truth is our deal is in phases and the only phase he's agreed to is London. It's very possible there are other cities. We call it his Capital Market Residency."
Choreographer Kenny Ortega of "Dirty Dancing" or "High School Musical" fame, depending upon how old you are, is working with Jackson on the show.
Although many folks have their doubts that Jackson will make it to the stage on time-British bookies are even taking bets-Phillips told The Daily Telegraph in the U.K., ""If Mike gets too nervous to go on, I'll throw him over my shoulder and carry him on stage. He's light enough."
And just a little bit of extra minutiae, the tour's tagline, "This is It," came from Jackson himself. "I said, 'Mikey, that's perfect. This is the place to be'," Phillips says. And yes, he admitted, he does call Jackson "Mikey

So I guess it's safe to assume that Randy is the official spokesperson in regards to MJ in this matter? lol

I hope one of the phrases is Australia! I always knew there were more!

I bet Michael just wants to see how he pulls off london, if he is happy, he will do all other major cities without a doubt! PLease be AUSTRALIA as one of them!!!! Well we are a continent so most likely yay

i  that mike will come to australia too
It would be grand if he did.

They said that they have plans for more concerts, but that all Michael has agreed to so far is the shows in London. I think there will be more too, but I also think that Michael may be in a phase in his life now where he does what he wants to do, when he feels that this will give him something as well ( and not just in terms of money, but in artistic sense and freedom).
he does not really have anything to prove when it comes to achievments, as he already has done it all before. So this time around I am guessing they ( the people in AEG etc.) are the ones pushing, and then he agrees if he feels its worth it and that the terms are good enough. Also he has family now, witch also influence his decisions.
