Michael Jackson Feared Assassination During 'This Is It' Tour, Bodyguard Says

By Amrutha Gayathri | October 3, 2011 12:33 AM EDT
Michael Jackson feared he would be shot dead on stage during his scheduled comeback performance in London and planned to wear a bulletproof vest for the "This Is It" concerts, his British security chief asserts.

The legendary musician was “under severe pressure” before his press conference at London’s O2 Arena in March, 2009.

<script type="text/javascript">OAS_AD('x96');</script>The legendary musician was under such pressure before his press conference at London's O2 Arena in March 2009 that he had to drink half a bottle of whiskey "to calm his nerves," former bodyguard Matt Fiddes told The People.
"Michael had got it into his head that someone would shoot him, so he drank the whiskey, virtually a half-bottle, to steady himself," Fiddes said. "He was certain he was going to get shot because of all the bad press from his past."

"It was his first public &shy;appearance for ages and he believed he was going to get &shy;murdered. He was p***ed four or five hours &shy;before the &shy;conference. It was a mad panic. We were all &shy;trying to get him to sober up."
Fiddes' statement came after the first week of the involuntary manslaughter trial in Los Angeles of Michael Jackson's physician. Dr. Conrad Murray, 58, is being portrayed by the prosecution as an incompetent doctor whose gross negligence in administering propofol -- a risky drug which requires close monitoring of patient in controlled medical settings -- led to Jackson's death on June 25, 2009.
Defense attorney Edward Chernoff argues that Jackson caused his own death, unable to cope with his deteriorating finances and pressures to live up to expectations after a 10-year hiatus.
Fiddes recalls the day after Jackson's rather disappointing five-minute performance on the launch of his comeback tour. "Michael said to me, 'I fear I'm not going to make these concerts or may get assassinated on stage. Please can you make sure my &shy;children are OK.'"
"He was a mess. He told me that during his four-month trial before being cleared of child molestation in 2005 he had to wear a bulletproof vest every day," Fiddes said.
"Michael said he'd have to wear one through the concerts and wasn't sure how he'd get through them because of his worries."
"This was the last time I saw him alive."
The prosecutors played an incredibly sad tape of Jackson's voice on the opening day of his death trial, recorded just weeks before his death, coupled with a photo of his lifeless body.
The King of Pop said in an almost unintelligible voice: "We have to be phenomenal. When people leave this show, when people leave my show, I want them to say, 'I've never seen nothing like this in my life. Go. Go. I've never seen nothing like this. Go. It's amazing. He's the greatest entertainer in the world.'"
Fiddes said Jackson sounded "incoherent" and "almost erratic" when he spoke to the star on the phone three days before his death.
"I spoke to Michael on the phone three days before he died and he seemed really high, almost out of it."
Thirteen witnesses testified in the first week of Murray's trial, with evidence suggesting that Jackson was clinically dead before he got to the hospital.

He has just recalled it, just like that, out of the blue. And he thought we will be so happy to hear that.
Good Michael, you are a drunk now too, what's next?

If true and Michael really did that , what's the point of telling us the drinking part?I don't get it.And the rest, we already knew that he was feared for his life.

i agree. Why now Mr. Fibbes? Just thought of it after the defence wanted to use the TII announcement to help their case? Well it's not the first story he has jumped on the back off!

Granted none of us now the truth, but whatever it is should be kept private.

Two words: Matt Fiddes. Didn't he also claim he was Blanket's father? He's a pathetic liar and tabloid whore. So why do we even care about what he says?

Re: Michael Jackson Feared Assassination During 'This Is It' Tour, Bodyguard Says

Yeah, with friends like these, who needs enemies?

Oh, so this is that clown?
End of thread

Re: Michael Jackson Feared Assassination During 'This Is It' Tour, Bodyguard Says

It had nothing to do with bad press as to why people were trying to murder him...it was and is the huge conspiracy and the criminals that were feeding the press and making money off it are some of the murder conspirators...

Re: Michael Jackson Feared Assassination During 'This Is It' Tour, Bodyguard Says

Matt Fiddess was not even with MJ in 2009 when he went to London.
He is a media whore and sells $$$$ garbage to tabloids. Remember he
was also selling stories about Him being the father of Blanket at
the time of Mjs death as well at other discusting crap.

Nothing Matt Fiddes $ells to tabloids is truth or credible in any way.

Re: Michael Jackson Feared Assassination During 'This Is It' Tour, Bodyguard Says

@qbee that exactly what I thought, that Matt Fibbes was not employed by Michael in 2009.

Re: Michael Jackson Feared Assassination During 'This Is It' Tour, Bodyguard Says

Fiddes is a known liar - anything for money!

Thanks for that info. I wasn't sure about this, but I suspected he wasn't even with MJ in 2009.

Re: Michael Jackson Feared Assassination During 'This Is It' Tour, Bodyguard Says

Seems unlikely, considering the source.

Re: Michael Jackson Feared Assassination During 'This Is It' Tour, Bodyguard Says

While the source is totally discredited, i could see this being a geniune fear of Michael's. Because i had the same slight worry myself in the build up to the shows, there was an awfull lot of hate around for him at this time, and anyone could buy tickets to the shows, it only takes one crazy person and thats it.

Re: Michael Jackson Feared Assassination During 'This Is It' Tour, Bodyguard Says

This guy is almost as low as it comes. Show me one picture or proof that he was there protecting MJ at the O2 announcement because I sure as hell didn't see him.

Fidds worked for Michael for like two days through his Urine Smelle association back in 2002/1 when Mike came to the UK for few days, and that's about it. That was the only time he was anywhere near Michael. Also yes Fidds did claim that, he also dyed his hair black to make it more believable, then he claimed his daughter (who was blonde and blue eyed) looked just like Blanket, whatever Fidds, Fidds needs to **** off

Re: Michael Jackson Feared Assassination During 'This Is It' Tour, Bodyguard Says

Matt Fiddes is still at it? This wannabe Blanket daddy idiot who is friends with others fools like Mark Lester who just so happened to be with MJ for the 02 Press conference. Makes me think these two (not just Matt) is behind this B.S story just like they were for the Blanket story! After all it was Mark who told Matt to say blanket was his son because Mark in his mind likes to say Paris is his! LMAO Sick ass people!
