Re: Michael Jackson to Unleash World Premiere Experience At Billboard Music Awards

Remember, Michael had his face 3D scanned for ghost. I believe if my memory serves me right, they would be able to use that for CGI.

Re: Michael Jackson to Unleash World Premiere Experience At Billboard Music Awards

Extremely excited to see this, it's gonna be a pleasure.. i'm sure Michael will adore the technology that is being used, the estate continues to thrill us with unseen & bright experiences of the genius that is Michael Jackson... so damn excited, these new statements only heighten my anxious state that i have in my heart & soul right now...

Re: Michael Jackson to Unleash World Premiere Experience At Billboard Music Awards

I have so much faith in this :)

Re: Michael Jackson to Unleash World Premiere Experience At Billboard Music Awards

Edit: howard weitzman responds, i didn't see it in the article originally. Here's what he wrote;

''Howard Weitzman, the lawyer for the MJ Estate, tells TMZ, "This is another Alki David stunt, no different than his claiming that Brandon Howard was Michael Jackson's son. It is ludicrous ... and the show goes on."

Zamnn, Shakira is killin' that poll.

Anywho, with that poll, they basically did a spoiler for they're own event. That pretty much confirms the hologram, as it's listed under artist performances.

Where does it say "hologram"?

Re: Michael Jackson to Unleash World Premiere Experience At Billboard Music Awards

His lawsuit is going to be shut down quick. No worries, it won't stop the billboard performance. He tried this before and the Estate still went on as planned. And he says blatantly in the lawsuit, that he doesn't want the Estate using it, simply because it'll then ruin his own planned similar Michael hologram event, whatever that is. There's no merit in that, because one, he has no right to use Michael's image without the Estate signing off on it. So he's basically mad, the Estate is going to do it legally, instead of waiting for him to release some unauthorized hologram.

yes and also his whole body with movement for the skeleton dance, remember? Not everything was used i Guess, so maybe in the future they ( estate) can use it for a 3d technology

Re: Michael Jackson to Unleash World Premiere Experience At Billboard Music Awards

A hologram's sole purpose is to present in this case a dead guy as doing a live performance. So yes, that is pretending he's alive by projecting a 3D thing on stage as if he's there. It's not just an on screen video. Big money but so what? The King deserves NOTHING less.

A holograms purpose is meant to simulate a live encounter with a person who's no longer here, specifically for those, in most cases, who didn't get to experience being at Michael Jackson event while he was still with us. Not to pretend that person is alive. Many of your points for saying this is wrong, raises eyebrows. Because they can be seen as hypocritical and just plain not accurate.

Re-read what I typed. Nowhere did I say it says "hologram" flat out.

The fact that it's labeled under artist performances. Which gives way to the popular belief that it's indeed a hologram. Regardless of how superficial you may want to be about the terms used in the article.

I mean, I don't think such a big deal would be made out of Usher doing his dance again with a Cirque De Soleil crew, miming to Slave To The Rhythm. I just don't see that.

If they use an impersonators body, who is ready to burn down the internet with me?

You said;

"That pretty much confirms the hologram..."

I don't see how that could be misconstrued.

All of the 'anti-Sony' brigade.
All of the 'anti-Estate' brigade.
All of the 'nothing MJ post 2009 should be allowed/celebrated' brigade.

Have no fear Birchey, from experience, you will be amply supported in your crusade. :cheeky:

and the "We don't give a **** about MJ's artistic integrity" Brigade
"We can't really tell its not MJ's movements/singing" Brigade
"We buy anything put out with MJ on it brigade"

Will give The Estate and Sony a back rub? Jks

In all fairness I would not put it past the people running MJ to throw up an impersontor, they have sanctioned the use of impersonators for Michaels voice, writing, Movements and Image so far. Not like there is much less they can fake xD

MICHAEL JACKSON HOLOGRAM
LAWSUIT THREATENS BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS PERFORMANCE

A hologram performance by Michael Jackson -- the main event at Sunday's Billboard Music Awards -- could be put to sleep before it even hits the stage ... thanks to a last-minute lawsuit.

Alki David -- who says he controls the rights to the hologram technology -- filed suit late Thursday against the Michael Jackson Estate, MJ's production company and Dick Clark Productions ... to stop them from showing a hologram of Michael using David's technology.

According to the suit -- obtained by TMZ -- a life-size, projected 3D image of Michael will showcase a never-before-released Jackson song, "Slave to the Rhythm."

The MJ spectacle is similar to the Tupac Shakur hologram at the 2012 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival ... which David claims was based on the same technology.

David says if Billboard goes ahead with the Jackson performance Sunday ... it will destroy his plans for a similar, high-profile holographic MJ performance. He wants a judge to stop it ... STAT.

Howard Weitzman, the lawyer for the MJ Estate, tells TMZ, "This is another Alki David stunt, no different than his claiming that Brandon Howard was Michael Jackson's son. It is ludicrous ... and the show goes on."

Yes. Let's not wait And see Birchey. Let's stoke the fires up ready now, and bitch, and moan. Just in case it's actually good, and you don't get a chance after. Wouldn't want to miss out.

What's that saying?

"With friends (fans) like them, who needs enemies"?

Jeez.

Hell why not close this thread? Whats the point in talking about this performance, lets just wait and see!

This is a discussion forum, I am simply pointing out the last/only time a Michael Jackson performance used a Hologram it was of an Impersonator, I think thats grounds alone to dicuss that route no?

I really hope they don't go cheap on this. I hope they use CGI to recreate Michael's moves correctly. if they did I would be thrilled.

There is a difference between discussing and flaming. We both know that.

I just don't get why some 'fans' feel the need to criticise in advance. Without even seeing/hearing. It's all a little odd to me.

P.S.

It's been said, many times, that this MJ 'performance' has never been seen before. So why would you 'assume' that it would be the same as you have seen?

Wheres the flaming? from me? Nah........I was just kick starting a discussion with a little humour to boot :) wasn't me who bumped in to offend the "Anti-everything group" I jest of course.

People are not critising in advance, how can we critcise an impersonators body if there turns out not to be one? The discussion is of the possibility of one.

Much like the "Best you've never heard" Tagline, see this is the worrying part. The hardcore MJ fans had heard the tracks, the public hadn't.

The hardcore fans know Michaels moves to a tee, the majority of the people at MJ "One" didn;t, therefore most of them went aware assuming that was a hologram of MJ on stage.

I am 50/50 on whether they will use a body double, I hope they don't and mega props to them if they manage to pull this off.

Please for the hologram, use MJ's moves that he recorded for CGI from the Skeleton in Ghosts.

Fair enough Birchey.

You could always try and assume something is going to be brilliant, in advance, and build a little positivity and hope for your fellow MJ fans.

You never know, you might enjoy the change. :cheeky:

I really hope this is possible, but it depends on whether the data is still available, we know his head scan was on ebay for a crazy amount a few years back, not sure if the estate got that. Theres also the possibility that the software/hardware used for the motion capture wont cut it nowadays, or is tricky to transfer, dunno. But we have the tools nowadays to capture from 2d performances. if they put the effort in, they will be rewarded :)

Wheres the drama in that? xD

TBH though everything they have released since MJ passed has been screwed with. Especially some of the stuff I know about some releases, fans got screwed bigtime. hs

"Simulate a live encounter with someone who's no longer here"

Is that not exactly what I said in pretending to bring a dead person back to life? Some 3D projection isn't an experience that even slightly compares to seeing MJ when he was here.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The owners of technology used to digitally resurrect Tupac Shakur have asked a federal judge to block the use of their techniques in any effort to project a Michael Jackson hologram at Sunday's Billboard Music Awards.

Hologram USA and Musion Das Hologram sued Jackson's estate and producers of the awards show Thursday in a Nevada federal court in an attempt to block any appearance of a Jackson hologram at Sunday's ceremony.

A hearing on their emergency restraining order request has been scheduled for 2:30 p.m. local time in a Las Vegas court.

Show producers have not confirmed that a Jackson hologram will appear at the show, but they have promised a history-making performance by Jackson. The segment at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena will be used to promote the singer's latest posthumous album, "[lexicon]Xscape[/lexicon]."

Representatives of Jackson's estate and show producers Dick Clark productions did not immediately return messages seeking comment.

Hologram USA and Musion own patents to technology that creates 3-D images and projects them on stage to appear as if they're alongside live performers.

The digital Shakur hologram was a sensation at the 2012 Coachella music festival, and according to the lawsuit it was created using a product called Musion Eyeliner.

The companies say Musion Eyeliner has been used without authorization by a competitor to create a segment that depicts Jackson performing a new song, "Slave to the Rhythm," at Sunday's awards show.

Hologram USA obtained the rights to the patents after the bankruptcy of Florida effects house Digital Domain, which created the Shakur performance. Thursday's lawsuit also names Atlanta-based Pulse Entertainment Inc., whose CEO is the former head of Digital Domain, according to the complaint. Pulse is accused of using the hologram techniques without a proper license.

Phone and email messages left for Pulse Entertainment were not immediately returned.

In March, Hologram USA sued Cirque du Soleil and MGM Resorts International over its show, "Michael Jackson ONE" at Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino. The show features a performance by a digital rendition of Jackson, which the company also contends is an unlicensed use of its technology.

The case is being handled in a Los Angeles federal court and Cirque du Soleil and MGM Resorts have been granted an extension until May 23 to respond to the lawsuit.

I don't agree. But if that really is your opinion, then we are on opposite sides of the coin. So best we leave it there.

Peace.
