i think Michael would have loved the idea of the hologram and the magic it could create. However, being the perfectionist he was, i dont think he'd be satisfied with the finished stage show.

You're probably right, but this is the Man who thought that Motown 25 & Thriller could have been better...so you can't take his word for it!!

If was sat in the audience and this was James Brown or Jackie Wilson, he'd have loved it.

And he'd have loved the fact that everyone was talking / discussing / arguing about him & this performance.

He'd have loved the controversy.

He'd have loved the fact that it was a first and his was him.

oh...in my opinion obviously ;)

Yes, he would love it ALL to be better, no doubts. With impersonator or without.

The result is not the best of the best but it is just a start … they will improve it.

Even the result we see now – is fine for the audience, IMO.

Yeah it would of been all fine and I wasn't even that bothered about it until they tried to claim an impersonator wasn't used, when to me there obviously was one used....and not a very good one. A better impersonator and an admission that one was used is all I want.

In your opinion :)

Not the same.

Sheesh right.......on a forum you are usually offering YOUR opinion and in that case it goes without saying that you are just stating your opinion and are not stating it as fact.

When you are stating someone else's opinion, it comes across as if you're stating it as fact. That's the difference.

Hahaha.. from Croatian media:

"Iako je bila riječ o pravom spektaklu, mnogi su pronašli zamjerke, ne samo pjesmi već i hologramu koji pomalo podsjeća na porno glumicu Sashu Grey."

Google translate:

"Although it was a real spectacle, many have found objections, not only the song but also a hologram that is reminiscent of a porn actress Sasha Grey."

Don’t be so hard on that. They have a right to bring it as “magic”. It is their work after all. And we can’t say for sure if an impersonator was used. What if it’s really some new technology?

And I have a question – what about the impersonator officially was said?

That they didn’t use one in development of Visual MJ or in way of bringing it on stage?

I just don’t really care how they did it but I would like to know if they can improve it. IMO it would be nice if we could discuss the real technology that was used. I hope Making of VMJ is going to be a part of promotion. But I guess if we are to have it, it’s going to be much later or maybe in a year of two.

Do you know what I think - and this comes from decades of being, and associating with MJ fans;

Some fans (due to all the s**t MJ had to go through, I know), have spent so long being miserable, they just don't know how to be happy.

Worse, I think some don't ever want to be happy, OR ANYBODY ELSE TO BE HAPPY, now he's gone.

People are wasting their lives picking over the bones of every little thing, trying to find something to complain about. Something to moan and be unhappy about.

For God's sake. This is a fantastic time to be an MJ fan. The music he left, in Xscape, is immense to me. He rocking the charts. He's becoming a legend and idol to a whole new set of young fans. He's finally getting back some of the recognition and respect he deserves.

Some of you need to realise, this isn't about liking everything, this is about enjoying the best period probably since 1991. Everything isn't perfect, but plenty of it is god-damn good! Why pick on the bad bits when there is so much good? I'm sure I never see some of you post anything positive - unless it's combined with a snide remark.

If you can not enjoy this, then I feel sorry for you. Michael is never coming back to us. This is probably as good as it gets, and it will be over all too soon.

As a final note.

I came on this forum as I thought it would be a positive place to discuss MJ's music and success. It turns out that, although there are so many nice fans on here, it is dominated by a very vocal, depressive, anti-anything post 2009, small group of proffesional complainers - all lead by a member of staff, who I believe is taking advantage of his position to lead this group in their negative war against anything released by Sony/The Estate.

This is not a place I want to be.

Agree with that.

I don't mean to be rude but then maybe you shouldn't be here. You clearly have no idea what a forum is for. If you want everything to be rainbows, puppies and kittens then start your own forum but I have been watching you non stop carry on with this nonsense that you are right and anyone who has an opinion is in the wrong and completely anti-estate/post 2009 blah blah blah.

This board has some of the most insightful and friendly people I've come across and it is a pleasure to debate and sometimes even argue with many. That is the reason for a forum. To discuss, dissect and share opinions. You clearly cannot handle anyone's opinion other than your own because I have watched you now write post after post tell people how to react to certain things and telling people how they should feel because its what YOU feel. You need to learn to respect other people's opinions, not be so sensitive and also not be so damn authoritative.

You are most certainly not better than any other fan here- regardless of whether or not they love/hate the Xscape era activities.

Innuendo141, IMO SmoothMJ is not trying to tell someone “how to react to certain things”. Maybe just want someone to enjoy things as there’s a chance to. Maybe just wish someone to be well and happy. Just maybe.

I don't see how telling other fans that they are 'bitching', that they need to get a life, and accusing them of having some sort of secret agenda equates to wishing them to be well and happy.

Has anyone sent a message to the estate to ask them exactly how this was done? Perhaps, this would help to clear up the mystery. Also, due to the attention that this whole event is getting, perhaps they will release a "making of" DVD or something that people can buy. This would help them to recup the money that was spent to create the performance. I'm guessing it was substantial even with the less than perfect results

@SmoothMJ

Don't be disheartened by some of the reactions here. I know it is very hard to keep up the good mood and celebrations when you keep coming across constant complaining and certain people picking everything apart.
It just that those people doesn't know how to enjoy the moment, and when they realise they should have enjoy it, the moment has passed.

If it helps, here are the instructions how to put posters in ignore so you don't see their writings:
Click Settings on top right hand corner
Scroll down a bit and you see on the left side bar with My Settings
My account/My Profile.......
Under My account, click Edit Ignore list and start adding names to your list.

One more thing, this article should help to brighten up anyones mood

Smooth - Please don't go anywhere. We need all views in this forum. Indeed, this thread has been dominated lately by very passionate people on both sides. I suspect that there are a lot of members who have yet to express their opinion due to the heated dialogue. This is why I keep advocating for a poll in order to help gage how the MJJC members ultimately feel about this. Unfortunately, Birchey had trouble creating one. Could someone else help? Ivy? Spyce? Anyone?

I think maybe because of how phenomenally well its been received by the public they may want to keep shtum about how they did it because more than likely they may employ this again. It has been ridiculously successful after all

Wait what? So you're saying we can't buy into Michael's own words simply because his standards were too high? Michael was a perfectionist, that's the legacy he's left behind. The Estate's job is to continue that legacy. There's no point in doing that when you have no desire to heed the words of the man himself. They may as well not even release anything else and just wait until his children come of age. If that's what you're saying.

Everyone has their things they think are “unbelievable”.

It scares me to think that one day fans will picking MJ3 apart for being “not MIchael”

This is not a place I want to be.

You might be a lot happier here if you let go of the idea that some of us are anti anything after 2009. You have aimed that comment at me several times even after I've told you I actually like the Xscape album. So your notion that 'some people don't ever want to be happy' is laughable considering you have ignored several things I've said to you which prove things aren't as bad as you think they are.

Those of us saying that, can say for sure that an impersonator was used. Because we've been exposed to them for years, even before Michael died. It's obvious to us an impersonator was used, CNN stated in the first article it wrote on the matter yesterday, that due to all the negative opinions it received from other hardcore fans, that it probably wasn't even meant for us and for those who pay little attention to detail and just enjoy the moment. That's cool, I've always said I'm glad this has put Michael back on top of the world, and I was among the forum members who were actually advocating for this to go on, while others were like "it's unethical"...Fact is, to me, it was executed very poorly. I'd like to think I know better when I see known tribute artist clothing on a "Computer Generated Image", and how realistic the clothes moved along to his movements. No video game, current gen or last, has accomplished that feat of having clothes look 100% realistic, not yet, not any developer, not one. Yet I'm supposed to believe that those clothes were of the same effect of the jerseys in NBA 2k? No.

Ivy is not staff and cannot create polls.

I can create polls, however my concern is that it would only create a bigger- and possibly worse- debate than is already taking place.

I'll tell you what- if there is interest in having a poll, and if everyone can behave themselves (whether you like the results or not), I will open up a poll :)

Christ almighty is SmoothMJ still at it? Give it a rest man. Stop trying to force people to like the hologram. Stop trying to put words into our mouths. We have our reasons to dislike it and we have every right to. And no it's not because we're miserable, no-lifers, or post-2009 haters or whatever crap you wanna call it. It's because we are people with opinions and sometimes opinions are different. Grow up and deal with it or you're gonna find the world a hard place to cope with.
