I don't see why everyone's so upset over Michael selling Neverland. Yes, Michael has a lot of good memories there, but he hasn't lived there in three years, and it's not a part of who he is anymore. Also, there would be daily reminders of Tom Sneddon's raid on Neverland, and who really needs that? Why shouldn't he sell it and buy a new home for brand new memories?

Didn't Michael also say in an interview that Neverland wasn't home to him anymore? Then why is he holding onto it still? He should just sell it and let the bad memories go.

We dont know anything about what MJ wants and what Neverland is to him NOW. So we should stop pretending that we do.

If you REALLY believe Michael is gonna lose Neverland and is 275 million dollars in debt, you might as well believe he's a pedophile too.
Because they're all rumors and products of the playa hatin' ass media.
You know better.

Hollaback.

This is the BEST comment on the thread! I love you, man. "Playa hatin' media" dawg, that phrase got me ROLLING with laughter!

Look, my opinion is, I really hope Mike tries to keep the estate. But if he don't, then it is what it is. Now, if these reports are true that MJ gotta pay $24 million dollars to keep his estate, then why couldn't these people give the man a payment plan? Just saying.

yep! here's the latest from CNN:

Michael Jackson seeks to keep Neverland Ranch

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/02/27/jackson.f...tion=cnn_latest

Story Highlights
A public auction has been set for March 19, according to court documents
Jackson owes $24.5 million on the property
Jackson insider: "The financing is all being worked out"
The singer has not lived at Neverland Ranch since June 2005
(CNN) -- Pop star Michael Jackson will avoid foreclosure on his Neverland Ranch property with a new loan, a Jackson insider told CNN Wednesday.

Documents show that Neverland Ranch in Los Olivos, California, is scheduled for a public auction on March 19 at Santa Barbara's downtown courthouse.

But the Jackson source said that won't happen.

"Michael Jackson's ranch is not going to be auctioned off at the courthouse," the Jackson insider said. "The financing is all being worked out."

"There are plenty of lenders willing to work with him. The real estate market is very bad right now and Jackson is being affected just like many other Americans," the source said.

The Santa Barbara County Recorder's Web site lists a "notice of trustees sale" by Jackson and his property lenders, Financial Title Company, filed Monday.

In California, title companies typically represent lenders in foreclosure cases.
A notice of trustees sale cannot be posted earlier than 90 days after a notice of default is filed. That notice is not filed unless a loan is in substantial default, sometimes six months or more past due.

A real estate source inside Santa Barbara County said the trustees filing is only the first step in a long process that could drag on for months.

The real estate source said other options are available to Jackson, including selling the ranch directly to another party or making a payment on his $24.5 million Neverland debt that would satisfy the trustee.

The recorder's Web site also reveals there was a release of lien on Jackson on February 4, showing he paid off all or part of delinquent taxes to the state of California.

"It seems unlikely that someone would pay off back taxes, only to let the ranch go up for auction a few weeks later," said the real estate source.

Jackson has not lived at Neverland since June 2005, after a Santa Barbara County jury found him not guilty of child molestation charges.

I think Entertainment Tonight is just reporrting the same news we've already came across many times today. I don't wanna build any unnecessary hopes, but nothing is sure until it's really done ;) Now we have to just wait, wait, wait a litte bit more and see what happens :flowers:

Re: Neverland MAY be auctioned on March 19, 2008 [keep all discussions here, please]

I saw this today on that silly show, TMZ.

If Michael wants to sell Neverland, I think it's up to him. Ultimitely in the end, it's only brick and morter. I often find myself becoming attached to certain places, buildings etc., because of the memories that were once created there. However, in the end, they are simply memories and can be revisited any time I choose.

When Sneddon and his crew invaded Neverland, they destroyed not only some physical conditons of the home, yet the emotional and peaceful aura that it once embodied. They disturbed the tranquility and peacefullness that was built around it. It was Michael's, his childern's and many other people's haven. Just as some of you have mentioned, it doesn't feel like home to Michael anymore. If the haven is gone, there is no home.

I pray that what ever happens, Michael will feel at ease with the out-come, and carry the memories from Neverland over, and build or find a new residence that will hold the same attributes and glory that once shined at NL.

Bless Michael, hope everything does come together in the end.

Re: Neverland MAY be auctioned on March 19, 2008 [keep all discussions here, please]

 Seriously, the title of the thread should get changed or the page number to the CNN report included as an update? People are running in here all upset and some people only read the last post. They won't realize this story is pretty much dead in the water now. It's been cut off at the knees. The fat lady is clearing her throat....etc. lol

Since when did ET told the truth? And what s up with the crying? Dang, I did not know that NL was your home as well.

Access Hollywood did not really spend that much time on it.

I saw this today on that silly show, TMZ

I saw that show today but they did not talk about the NL "saga".

Re: Neverland MAY be auctioned on March 19, 2008 [keep all discussions here, please]

Back during the trial period, the media was salivating at the possibility of Michael loosing Neverland. I remember they were even advising him to sell it because it had become a bad place. And I truly believe that the media will continue to do this until they see Michael no longer owning that place.

That's why I hope Michael keeps his ranch and gives it to his children and makes them all mad.

Re: Neverland MAY be auctioned on March 19, 2008 [keep all discussions here, please]

Not once did I say Michael was a coward and give up. I'm just stating that with everything that has happened in the last 10+ years with regards to Neverland, and the fact that Michael has not been living there, it's easier to get everything he can out of Neverland and let it go. Why own something that you rarely have been using for the last couple of years, and still pump thousands, if not millions of dollars into that asset? It makes no sense.

I thought that Michael was renting it out or something wasn't he? Can't be sure...I thought I heard this. I know he owns some real estate thoughout different places. Ya never know.^_^

Well, if you're going to give negative sources the floor, what's the deal in not giving positive sources the floor? And one of the sources is correct, this thing could carry on wayyyy past March 19th regardless so anyone waiting for impending doom on that day could be waiting and waiting and waiting.... To each his own. :flowers:

Re: Neverland MAY be auctioned on March 19, 2008 [keep all discussions here, please]

Maybe the physical place isn't a part of Michael anymore, but what it represents still is. I just think it would be sad if he were to lose it in this way. But if the CNN source is reliable, he might be looking for another lender, so that's good news if true. I don't think Michael wants to live there, not now anyway, but I don't think he wants to give it up either.

So sick but very true. In fact, an even sadder thing is the fact that no matter where Michael lives, the media will always condone his home as a place of weird and acentric and even 'scary' situations. Makes you sick to think that they could be so successful, yet so ignorant and dumb at the same time.

I also as well as many others here hope that he can keep NL and pass it onto his childern. They deserve to see what amazing work and imagination their father so graciously created.

Exactly. It's not the brick and morter, it's what it represents. Until we hear further details, we'll have to accept the fact that he's looking for a lender and what is meant to be shall be. :)

You are right, it would be sad to lose it in this way. If he wants to get rid of it, he could. But I don't want to see these fools take it from him.

And I don't think he will ever live there again, but I do believe that Michael wants to see his Neverland used to celebrate his legacy when he is dead and gone. And I think that being a black man in America, this may be really important to him. I believe people will be visiting Neverland every year with their families just like they do at Graceland. And I know that Michael's children will benefit from this. And I also think that Michael has too much pride in his legacy, accomplishments and where he has come from as a black man to sit back and let these people take this wonderful place from him. I think that some fans overstate this whole notion that Michael is still under this sad state due to what happened to him at Neverland. Sure, Michael has experienced some hurts with regards to how they raided Neverland and tore up his stuff, but I don't think that hurt overrides his desire to keep his Neverland. Michael is not a defeatist type person. He is a survivor. And I don't see him saying, "oh, they hurt me at my ranch, I don't want it anymore". I just can't see him saying that. I can see him fighting for his estate just like Scarlett fought for Tara!

Re: Neverland MAY be auctioned on March 19, 2008 [keep all discussions here, please]

sorry I was off line for most of the day and just came on.. reading that the neverland auction was on every news channel..even though the great debate with Obama and Hillary happened last night.. this is suppose to be a historic election year...

well, this proves that Michael is still on the AAA+ list of the media's .. and I bet.. T25 will sell even more than it would have in week 3.....

and from what I just read on a non-fan message board... alot of folks are pulling for him...
