New All-Star Tribute album?

Huh? That's not a tribute album.

A tribute album is when other artists play some of MJ's most famous songs. It's basically the greatest hits, but sung by people you might never have heard of.

You don't appear on your own tribute album, lol.

Are you thinking of Xscape Volume 2? That would never be called a tribute album.
Just read the thread to figure it out. There's a whole context to this.

Yes, we have several projects in the works, including a Michael Jackson tribute album. This project, while initially a Web2 music album, will incorporate NFTs to provide additional utilities to buyers. We're collaborating with top-tier artists, but due to NDAs, we can't reveal their names yet. We're aiming to launch this album in Q1 or Q2 next year.

Seems like they'll be releasing the album around the same time as the biopic. I wonder if there'll still be a need to include other singers in the biopic's soundtrack when there's already going to be an album with artists singing MJ's songs. Seems unnecessary to have the two be released at the same time.

They seem unrelated for starters. But definitely won't cut into the realm of Proper MJ

This would just confirm there's no MJ on this record.

Has there been any news on this? Assuming it isn't a scam nor that it got cancelled it's supposed to be coming out in a few months. I still find it weird how a project like this is going so much under the radar with all these big artists involved.

This website was updated a few months ago:

It says it will be released Q1-Q2 2025, probably to coincide with the original biopic release date. Maybe the delay of the biopic will also delay this further.
They also talk a lot about their NFT trash on that website. So even if the album will actually release, it will be linked to NFTs.

I’d love to be wrong, but this whole project just reeks of bullshit, man.

I missed this information:

‘Eternal Moon’, Blockchain-Powered Michael Jackson Tribute Album
Punkvism recently unveiled the white paper of its second Real World Asset (RWA) project, titled ‘Eternal Moon’, a project about the production of Michael Jackson tribute albums, and has begun to revolutionize the music industry using blockchain.

This blockchain-powered tribute album project transforms the way music is produced, distributed, and monetized—ushering into a new era of artist and fan participation.

‘Eternal Moon’ is a blockchain-based RWA tribute album project dedicated to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. At the core of ‘Eternal Moon’ lies the fusion of music and blockchain technology, offering a decentralized, transparent, and community-driven approach to music creation and ownership.

The project boasts the involvement of Rodney Jerkins, a four-time Grammy Award-winning producer and one of Michael Jackson’s final collaborators, alongside Neff-U, a renowned Grammy-winning producer. they are expected to show the highest level of musical craftsmanship in this tribute album. Punkvism and Fandom Studio work together on the project.

According to Punkvism, the ‘Eternal Moon’ project introduces a contemporary music IP monetization model that diverges from traditional copyright management and distribution methods. By leveraging NFT and blockchain technology, NFTs and music IP will be connected, allowing both artists and fans to participate directly in the music industry’s value creation process, creating a fair and sustainable revenue distribution structure.

The core currency within the eternal moon music RWA platform is the Eternal Moon coin. This digital asset is set to maximize the value of music Ip, ensure transparent copyright management, and create a community-centered music ecosystem. It is expected to continuously generate and expand value through staking, metaverse integration, and NFT functionality, going beyond a mere investment vehicle to establish an RWA ecosystem linked to real music IP.

Alex Hwang, CEO of Fandom Studio, emphasized, “Michael Jackson is not just a pop star, but a true artist who changed the world and spread love and hope through his music” and added, “We look forward to more people experiencing his music and his spirit through the ‘Eternal Moon’ project using blockchain technology, furthermore, we hope to inspire a culture of service and charity activities through music.” He continued, “Music is more than just entertainment, it has the power of healing and solidarity. the success of ‘Eternal Moon’ will mark a new chapter in the music industry, offering fans around the world the chance to participate together and make meaningful changes.”

To ensure the success of Eternal Moon project, Punkvism is actively building strategic global partnerships across various industries. In the field of music production and industry professionals, the company is collaborating with world-class producers including Rodney jerkins and Neff-U and the world’s top artists who have already signed contracts to the tribute album.

Partnering with Naver Cloud, blockchain developer MCI, and Shinest, Punkvism is strengthening blockchain technology and infrastructure. Accounting and legal support are provided by E-chon Accounting Firm, SaeSiDae Accounting Firm, and JungDong Accounting Firm. To establish global marketing and branding, Mass C&G and SoBok are collaborating.

A New Era of Music Innovation

As blockchain technology continues to redefine industries, the project, ‘Eternal Moon’ stands as a pioneering force in the music world, bridging technology, artistry, and community participation. With its groundbreaking RWA model, NFT integration, and commitment to fair revenue distribution, the project holds the potential to reshape the global music industry.

The world watches Punkvism’s second RWA project, ‘Eternal Moon’, setting a new standard for music ownership and distribution using blockchain technology.

All of the people mentioned are probably not even aware of all this crap lol

I didn't ask for the environment to be fucked up via a "blockchain". Neither did anybody else.

I was just about to come in here to say PLEASE no tribute albums where artists butcher MJ songs like they did with that HORRIBLE We Are The World 25 version!!! 🤮🤮🤮 BUT….this actually sounds promising. I mean Bruno Mars and will.i.am are artists I’m okay with. Bruno loves MJ and his voice and dancing are badically already a tribute of sorts to Michael. Will.i.am has been very respectful towards Michael and has refused to cash in on the songs he did with Michael so I’m confident he wouldn’t get involved until he’d think they’re done right and ot’s the right project. So totally fine and happy with him being a part of it. Also Neff-U did a fantastic job with producing some of the songs after Michael’s death already so also fine with him. I just really want to hear what Michael was working on during his last years and where his mind was at lyrics wise too, so if we’re getting any of those songs and songs he had written on his list that was found in his room when he died, then I consider those a real treat because they’re ultra rare! Obviously Michael isn’t here to sing bit maybe there are parts he did record so maybe we still get to hear a little bit of him? 🙏🏻❤️ If not, I’d still settle hearing the melodies, beats and just lyrics too. ❤️

Michael Jackson Tribute Album Project was initiated during the COVID-19 pandemic to spread love and hope to people worldwide. It originally started as On The Way, a project where global artists collaborated on Tribute Single with its proceeds intended to support marginalized communities in need of COVID-19 prevention and treatment.

During this process, legendary producer and hip-hop artist Timbaland created a demo track, and as vocalists were being recruited from the U.S. and Europe, Irish entrepreneur Paddy Dunning revealed that Michael Jackson had worked on music with Rodney Jerkins and Neff-U at his recording studio, Grouse Lodge.

This discovery led to the evolution of the project, incorporating a diverse lineup of artists, including K-pop artists, to create a full Michael Jackson Tribute Album. Rodney and Neff-U were contacted, and agreements were made to secure and complete unfinished tracks from their sessions with Michael. Currently, nine demo tracks have been secured, and Timbaland's song has undergone orchestral arrangement and mixing.

The orchestral piece was arranged by Takatsugu Muramatsu, former music director for Studio Ghibli, alongside Korean composer Cozyh. The orchestral recording was performed by Muramatsu's team, bringing the composition to life with rich, cinematic depth.

Looking forward to learning the titles of those demos, I hope they reveal it very soon. Is the album still set to come out on Q2 2025 or have they changed the release date?

I do not care about this at all as there'd really be no way to tell if it's even something MJ worked on, I also don't see how it's happening with seemingly no estate involvement lol.

It's not an MJ album. It's basically a Weeknd/Bruno/whoever else compilation of tracks. with a good foundation.

Even with all the confirmation this project still sounds like some crazy fever dream lol, from the bits and obscure descriptions for years to the weird involvement with NFTs it seemed like a scam than a legit thing. Also seems like the last thing the Estate would ever approve but I'm happy that it's moving forward and it's getting a documentary on top of that, I'm thrilled to learn anything new about Michael's final sessions. And I hope they reveal the tracklist soon enough, this drip feeding is driving me insane lol

Hmm if they include MJ vocals I‘m obviously very interested but I kinda doubt that 🥺
