Great pix of Michael with Danny Kaye. I wonder if this was during the 1980 Disneyland 25th anniversary special.

(I must be going a little crazy. I can remember sitting in front of the TV and watching that special like it happened last night.)
 
It's from July 17th 1990 when Michael attended Berry Gordy's wedding to Grace Eaton in Santa Barbara. First one is Michael and studio bassist Nathan East during the 'Bad' sessions '87. He looks YUM :naughty:

I came across this gif the other day and to me, it really looks like the footage that Brad showed in his seminars of Michael recording Childhood, before he was asked to remove it. I'm not sure, I've only seen it once and it's been almost a year ago, but seeing him record that song was truly something special so I really hope it is (and that it will be leaked fully)!

My memory is sketchy too because I also have not seen it since last year, but yeah, it certainly does look like the Childhood footage. Wonder how someone made a gif of that, especially because the quality looks pretty decent too.

That footage was truly special. I hope it gets released at some point so that fans and the general public can enjoy it. It really symbolizes who Michael was as an artist (insanely gifted, incredibly dedicated and professional, and deeply passionate about his music).

The gif is looped a bit awkwardly (going back and forth) but I think this is during the instrumental section of the song where the orchestra really soars (what do you think Lil?). As I'm sure you know, the orchestra was playing along live with MJ in an adjacent room, shown briefly at the beginning of the video, while MJ was set up in a booth with the lights almost turned off, as he always preferred. MJ seemed to be really pleased with the way the orchestra took off during that section. In the full video he looked a bit more excited rather than menacing as it does in the gif (due to the way it is looped), but equally passionate.

What was incredible to me was how he was both entirely wrapped up in the performance and at the same time incredibly aware of how he was delivering it. You'd see in his facial expressions that every line came straight from the heart, but at the same time he also would look away from the mic after almost every line to clear his throat. He really was a consummate pro at all times.

I don't want to turn this thread into something else, but now that we're talking about it I thought it was fun to look back at some of the notes I took a while after the seminar, and I thought I'd share part of what I wrote:

"Before recording started he was talking to someone, he said something along the lines of "I really love the way you… -something, complimented someone on something- loved it, loved it!"
And then when he started singing, what I remember most is that all the way through it he was smiling. Even when it was so sad what he sang.. even when he sang things like 'no one understands me', he had the most beautiful smile.. It was completely different than seeing him perform, this was very.. private, intimate. He made a lot of gestures too when he sang, like when you pull up your shoulders and hold your hands close to your chest, as if you're holding something valuable.. he did that a lot. He seemed really vulnerable and so sincere, it was beautiful, absolutely beautiful!

Something I found very funny was how he kept clearing his throat (loudly!) in between his lines. He was just trying to have his vocals sound as perfect and clear as possible but -hearing him sing so beautifully and then seeing him make these random coughing sounds in between- I couldn't help but laugh.
I remember when he was done he had this huge smile and made a gesture like "YES! nailed it!". He seemed so happy and I think he felt really good about it, since he sang live with the orchestra.
Then he grabbed his fedora and put it on, looked at the camera and said something, I don't remember what it was but probably something in the range of 'I'm out', 'cause he almost ran out of the room!":laugh:


The gif is rather odd, at first I thought it was the 'nailed it'-gesture he made at the end :D but it could also be the part you described SoCav! If your memory on all of this is better than mine (which I'm sure it is, lol), would you mind sharing with me what you remember? (you can PM me if you want!)

Me too! This gif is fascinating as well as the seminar descriptions! Who owns the film? Brad?
Do you all think the Estate asked him to stop showing it bc they plan to use it for a project. I'm dying to see this.
 
^^I'm not sure if he owns the actual footage or just a copy of it..
I hope so! But I doubt it tbh, they pretty much just asked him to stop using any unreleased material. But I guess Brad is not the only one who was able to get his hands on it.. I hope it'll be the same as with the BoW bts footage, where they first leaked a couple of seconds of it and then eventually all of it!:wild:
