Re: Spike Lee announces Off The Wall Documentary

The calm before the storm...
That's what I was thinking. I thought everything would be quiet and peaceful at the end of 2011 and then suddenly boom. It exploded in 2012 and hasn't let up til now.

Re: Spike Lee announces Off The Wall Documentary

Why has there been absolutely zero news about this?? It feels likes it's not even happening anymore :\

It would be sensible to catch the Christmas / Holiday season market, so maybe there will be an announcement in the autumn.....??

Re: Spike Lee announces Off The Wall Documentary

:( I was thinking about that too, Barbee. Those of us that were fans from their J5 days want to see those shows again before we die. I know I want to re-live those shows, even though I actually attended some of them. Going down Memory Lane on a blu ray disc may be all I have left. And KOPV is right; the brothers know people want to see those shows and will pay to have them on disc, so they shouldn't have a problem with Mike's estate wanting to release them someday.

I wonder if Branca & Co. even NEED the remaining Jackson brothers' permission to release them?

I agree with you on this I would love to see these concerts again never saw the Jackson in person.

Re: Spike Lee announces Off The Wall Documentary

I mean, the guy is dead. It's something we're going to have to get used to tbh.

Thank you, Captain Obvious! I'm pretty sure Barbee meant it's quiet in reference to this documentary's progress.

Back to the subject at hand: since we're waiting, I'm playing OTW on stun level and waking up the neighbors... :chillin: :girl_dance: :punk:

Well she did say "in the Michael World" but sure, you're welcome Sergeant Sarcasm :p

Re: Spike Lee announces Off The Wall Documentary

They have enough decent material to last another 50 years, especially at the pace they're going... nothing good at all in the visual offerings thus far

Re: Spike Lee announces Off The Wall Documentary

I'm praying that Spike Lee will give us some sort of update during the Brooklyn celebration on the 29th. Here's hoping!

:dancin: :lmao: I can NEVER get enough of this album, Girl!

:give_rose: My dear Captain Obvious, there isn't a soul on this board that doesn't know Mike is no longer in the land of the living, so Barbee's post didn't warrant that response, which is why I cracked on you. Correction: I am the QUEEN of sarcasm, btw. :hysterical:

Sergeant Sarcasm, one must expect it to become quiet in the Michael World from time to time. What I said was obvious, but relevant nonetheless as to why it will be quiet from time to time. :p

Still @ it I see, this thread is bursting with sarcasm from just about every corner, loooove it :D

I do have a couple of slight objections though :p First of all, if one remembers those long-forgotten decades before 2009 it would get verrrry quiet for a really long time, in between albums/tours/whatever. When he wanted, the man could go stealth mode and be virtually invisible thus purposefully falling off the radar of media and fans, all of it whilst being very much alive. MJLand could get uber quiet even without him dying.

Also, I'm not entirely sure every single last soul on this board is absolutely convinced Michael isn't in the land of the living any more. Ever thought there were some hoaxers in disguise around here? Stranger things can happen lol. Of course them ridiculous YouTube videos with creepy music and so-called clues are completely laughable, but the idea in and by itself is not that terrible, is it? In the context of autopsy pictures, trials, people going to jail, memorials and funeral ceremonies of course it all sounds completely ridiculous and defiant of every sense of logic and reason, but anyways........the thread was about Spike's upcoming joint, right? Whenever it comes out, I'm sure it's gonna be great and I also bet folks in Brooklyn are gonna have quite the party soon :)

:dancin: :lmao: I can NEVER get enough of this album, Girl!

I can't say I blame you, I really can't, unless of course you play Girlfriend and It's the falling in love on loop in which case I may have to deny I ever spoke to you

Ah Queen Sarcasm, I really appreciate you having my back with this. I really worded that badly when I said Michael World, and I got my answer it threw me into a deep funk. I think I am looking for just any kind of snippet or hint or sneak peak of something from the Estate, especially this project-a tweet or a hint from Spike would be lovely.

But in the meantime, I, too, am now blasting Off the Wall here at home to get out of my sadness and this week I'm going to take my old album cover and put it on MY wall as poster art just like you. And further more, I'm taking my cassette version with me in the car this week so I can blast it out there-until Michael died, I had kinda forgot that I even had a cassette player in my car-and when I played his stuff in it I was shocked to realize that the best speakers I own are in that car. You can hear ever single vocal layer as well as every layer of every single instrument in every single song coming from all 4 corners of the car-it's like super stereo. :)

And what's wrong with playing Girlfriend and It's the Falling in Love on endless loop? Yeah!!! I do. And sing along totally OFF KEY TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 No worries, Barbee! I knew what you meant, regardless of how you worded it. Like someone else posted, I hope Spike says something about it during the Brooklyn Loves Michael party. Don't ever feel you have to make a post perfect to engage in the conversation, because you DON'T.

As for Captain Obvious, your response to Barbee wasn't relevant or necessary; it was bitchy and uncalled for. Mike being dead isn't the first time any news concerning him has been in a lull. His death is the only reason he's not here to witness the fan anticipation and media buzz.

Historic's a good guy, I don't think he meant for his comment to come off sounding bitchy. Let's not get Munich Memorial in here :p

"I'm a lover not a fighter."

Re: Spike Lee announces Off The Wall Documentary

I didn't intend to but if it came across that way then I apologise :)
You're OK and thank you. Certainly didn't expect to take the comment so hard-sometimes it's like hearing it for the first time.
I do wish Spike or somebody would put out an update.
Or if the Estate would announce the Triumph or Victory Tour I'd be hysterically happy. :)

Just think of all the material he has access to for the documentary...WOW! Maybe the next documentary will be on the Jackson 5? I'm getting ahead of myself, lol!

heck yes. Surely somebody was running around with a home movie camera so we could see behind the scenes of Hollywood Palace show, Ed Sullivan, the Forum?? The Forum show-I want to see that!!

I'm surprised that Joseph didn't film the kids performing at Mr. Lucky's, etc. so they could review their performances. But then Katherine would see the seedy places they were playing. Lol.

I'll admit I'm still peeved that Spike didn't put an hour or two of extras on his Bad25 doc. I have no doubt that there is a ton of material on the cutting room floor. Maybe he'll re-edit it one day.

What's wrong? It's not just wrong, but uber wrong on multiple levels of cornyness :p But who am I to judge? If them utter pieces of blandness groove your undemanding boat, who am I to say otherwise?

Only kiddin' with you homegirl, only kiddin' :D

:hysterical: That and she'd see the skanky women he was flirting with, too...

I'm hoping for a LOT more with the OTW documentary! The main slow song I play on a loop is "I Can't Help It", Barbee. I simply melt every time I hear it! Mike's delivery of it is soooo dreamy! :girl_blush:

Re: Spike Lee announces Off The Wall Documentary

I just met Spike Lee in person at the Brooklyn Loves Michael Jackson event today. I asked him how the documentary is going and he told me it's going well and he just wrapped up interviews for it yesterday.

Yes!!! Thank u!!!

Re: Spike Lee announces Off The Wall Documentary

According to MJBeats there will be unreleased Triumph Tour footage in the doc, gutted there will be no concert release though... especially if clips are in High Def

Re: Spike Lee announces Off The Wall Documentary

couldn't find the Off The Wall reissue thread but according to my friend who is in touch with people from the estate an announcement is being planned before the end of the month.

Re: Spike Lee announces Off The Wall Documentary

Anyone else just hoping for a documentary and not a tour release right now?

I'm not even 30 yet, I want to have some stuff to look forward to for a few years yet! I don't want the well to be dried up in only a couple of years. in 2012 we got MJ's best concert yet, it's only 2015. MJ himself never released things that soon after the last.

I see it the same way; I'm very happy to wait and spread out what's left over time. I'm barely 20 but it'd be really cool to hear a new song by Michael Jackson when I'm in my 30s!
