I'm really excited about this release. I only watched the 90-minute version aired on ABC. I can't wait to watch the whole thing. For me, the whole project for Bad 25 was amazing. The demos, the DVD, the documentary. That's what I'm talking about.

Everyone ask Spike if their is any extras on the Blu-Ray, surely if we all ask he's going to reply to one of us!

I'm holding out on watching the full 2-hour broadcast just so I can be surprised when I finally get the Blu-ray.

The studio footage we've gotten from I Just Can't Stop Loving You was, indeed, professionally filmed with the intent to release it as a music video. As it's been stated you can tell that Michael and Siedah are simply lip-synching over the original track. Why Michael chose not to release it, I don't know. I'm also not certain as to why Just Good Friends was recorded, as that was filmed live. I would adore having a bonus feature entitled "In the Studio with Michael Jackson," just featuring studio footage and interviews with studio collaborators. I've heard rumors about some amazing studio footage of the recording of The Way You Make Me Feel, and I'm aching to see that!

I'm really anxious to get this DVD to add to my MJ collection, which is a bit small, but anyways, i can't wait to see the extra hour that was not included when it first aired back in November, plus extras! I can't wait to once again see my Beautiful BAD Boy!! WOW! He looked SOOO handsome during that era & it's my all time fave as well :)

Here in the U.S the ABC t.v. audience only got to see maybe one hour (90 min special but 30 min of commercials) so this DVD/Blue ray is super valuable to me. Whether it is the two hour version from BBC or if it has more extras I would appreciate it soooo much!

If there is bonus footage, I think a big chunk of it may be additional commentary from the people Spike interviewed. It sounds more practical, buisnesswise...though it would be great if we do get some more behind the scenes footage :)

My understanding of that tweet he said it's going to be the original/his cut of the documentary and 2 hours of extras.

Wouldn't it be better for those who want to really know to just ask Spike about any extras. Instead I see compound (more then one) questions to him. Doing that the answer will be confusing cause u don't know which one he is answering lol. Anyways, I Have yet to see the full doc, so I will buy regardless but, it be nice if there will be extras footage too?
 
Bad 25 documentary available, but not in stores

The highly acclaimed Spike Lee documentary detailing the creative process of the King of Pop during the making of his legendary 1987 “Bad” album has finally been made available for fans around the world to purchase.

The film recently appeared quietly in the online store on the official Michael Jackson website – michaeljackson.com – with no fanfare or announcement from either Sony Music or the Michael Jackson Estate.

Today I learned that the Estate do not plan to make “Bad 25″ available to retailers around the world – meaning you can’t buy the documentary in stores. Instead documentary, which is available in both DVD and Blu-ray formats, will be exclusively sold online – at least for now.

“Bad 25″ was a huge hit with Jackson enthusiasts following its August 2012 debut at the Venice Film Festival, subsequent cinema screenings around the world and eventual television broadcasts on major networks in select regions. The film showcases Jackson’s creative genius wonderfully, taking you on an exclusive behind-the-scenes journey from the conception to the realisation of some of the most iconic visual masterpieces in music history – including “The Way You Make Me Feel”, “Smooth Criminal” and the title track, “Bad”.

It was commonly believed by fans that the documentary would be re-launched on physical formats, featuring additional unreleased footage and bonus features, in order to maintain the momentum that the initial “Bad 25″ campaign had generated. This would follow the the release of the “Bad 25″ commemorative album, Live at Wembley concert DVD and box set – all of which hit the market in September 2012.

However, since the documentary’s November 22, 2012 Thanksgiving broadcast on ABC in the U.S., the global campaign, which at one point included a Pepsi endorsement, TV ads and a CD single, had seemingly come to an end. As a result, sales of the “Bad 25″ commemorative album suffered, selling a mere 100,000 copies in the U.S. to date since its release.

In addition to being available on michaeljackson.com, the “Bad 25″ DVD and Blu-ray, which does not appear to include any additional footage or bonus features, will be made available at the merchandise stands at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino when Cirque du Soleil’s brand new production, “Michael Jackson ONE”, premieres to the public on June 29, 2013.

Update: Spike Lee has tweeted a fan in response to questions about the documentary. Lee confirmed that the “Bad 25″ DVD and Blu-ray will be free region, released worldwide and that an extended version WILL available also. See below…

Watched it again las night... Such a greateffortby Spike.will be a great addition to the Bd 25 collection. Fitting end to the year long celebration!

From what I understand, that it will be available worldwide on July 2nd, so I assume that would mean it'd also be in stores, because as of now, it's just on the OFFICIAL website as a PRE-ORDER
and for me, I'm gonna wait til it comes out July 2nd & hopefully find it at either my local Target, Wal-Mart or Best Buy store & get it then

Shipping to offline stores is additional cost. If the publisher wants to cut costs, they can easily stick to Amazon and official web-site. By all signs this is what's going to happen here.

Hmm...that makes me think it's NOT going to be in Stores AT ALL, but again, I don't really know & if that were to be the case, in my opinion, it'd be pretty stupid really

Sounds ridiculous to me, to not be put in stores, i mean, most things do get put in stores from what i know of, but in this case, we'll wait & see what happens, i mean at the moment, it's on the official site as a PRE-ORDER & I would think that it would be added on sites like Amazon/Ebay, as well as added to stores on the day that it gets released.so, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed

This should definitely make it into the stores, it would be both surprising and disappointing if it doesn't! (Even though I usually shop online haha).

Regardless - can't wait to get it on Bluray! :)

Of course it will be in stores once it is released in July.. Why wouldn't it be ?
I think some deliberately try to sabotage releases from the Estate with these unsourced unfounded rumours. This is just an announcement of the release with a presale - I'm quite certain full info will come with the release in July if not before. No one is forcing anyone to buy it now. They are not going to run out of DVD's .... SO there will be plenty of time for the complainers to buy it and begin nitpicking, bashing and and tearing Spikes Lees Doc to pieces (Just as they did BAd 25) once it is released. I know some are in a pathetic hurry to do so but they just got to be patient like the rest who will appreciate the love and work Spike Lee put into it. .

I don't order anything online here in Holland anymore because of the recent Internet security attacks.

So if its not available in stores, I am forced to download the bluray ISO.

I understand not feeling safe to order online but If its not in your stores I could purchase it for you and mail it to to you, just so you won't feel forced to DL. ;)
