Yeah it's not finished and hasn't been mixed or mastered properly. That's why it sounds weird.

I believe this goes beyond the technical aspects of the song. The composition just doesn’t sound that strong imo. Some songs are like that no matter how well they are mixed.by the way I was actually referring to MJ’s vocals when I said that it sounds “edited”. Like a cut and paste job.
 
Production wise, I definitely think it’s a little lacking in certain areas. Live horns would do a lot of good in my eyes, plus maybe some extra drums. Like SmoothGangsta said it’s hard to judge fairly based on an early version that’s unmastered and roughly mixed, but I definitely think it could be truly phenomenal with a bit more finesse. I love it as it stands though. I wonder how much different the original demo is. I know Steve overdubbed live drums and whatnot circa 2021, but I wonder if anything else was changed.

Yeah I agree about the horns, can imagine it would have a lot more impact that way.

I've been curious about this myself. I wonder if he just updated the various elements to sound less demo-ey or if he changed a lot.

He did seem pretty against what the estate are doing so I'd think it was probably the former but who knows.

Agreed. Live horns and maybe strings or guitar licks to spruce it up a bit. Apart from that I don’t think it actually needs to be remixed.

Man's literally trying to gaslight these producers into being feeble old men with their faculties gone so it's easier to intimidate and take advantage of them. Nothing more nothing less really.
 
Would be interessting to know, how much the leaked version differs from the supposedly original version that was "premiered" for the first time in 2014 at a vip dinner after a seminar.

Anyone here who attended the event in LA back in 2014?

Because either you used the word in its true sense (whereupon your original statement becomes weird), or, you used it in it’s secondary sense, in which case you are either a doctor or an ageist.

I thought this thread is some surrealistic spaghetti mess of people assuming all kind of stuff like the rights the universe grants them when other people do or don't do certain things, moral fanatics, strawmen arguments everywhere... and 2 guys discussing semantics for like 10 pages...

Does anyone have any idea why Throwing Your Life Away hasnt leaked? Are the leakers holding back some things to sell them?
