Thriller 25 proving that MJ still has very good Sales Potential

So MJ releasing THRILLER makes people think back to the days of the 80s when MJ was 'normal' (in there mind) and when he was known for great music etc

I agree. I think that's actually what Michael wants people to think about. Then show with the new album "it wasn't only back then but I still have it". I think the same idea was with HIStory back in 1995. There were the first disc to remind them about the same thing.

And it also proves that he needs a major record label backing him. Without the amazing promotion Sony is doing none of this would be possible.

Every artists need a record label to sell records ;

The fact is that michael was considered as a "has been" so even if there is a major record label behind this , if people think he is a "has been " he is a "has been" and NO promotion can change that if people don't like him they don't buy his albums whatever promotion there is , therefore if michael can sell 120 000 in the USA in just 2 days its means people keep on loving him there , its a proof of their love towards michael , music is stronger than lies , i don't know if you understand what i mean !

For example i don't like at all MADONNA , so when her new albums comes out i won't buy it whatever the level of promotion of her record label , i won't buy her album because i don't like her music and not because a label record makes a huge promotion ,people are not so stupid , they buy the music they like hearing and not the music they are imposed to buy .

Sorry for my english .

that was what they expected big slaes
otherwise sony has never started this project
they know as well as any of us that michael is still the number one artist
at least now they are showing it once again was about time after the last yrs

Midweek UK charts predict a number 4 new entry, which for a re-release is incredible.

Mike has to capitalise on this with new material soon. If he waits another year the hype will have died down again. I wasn't sure about the sense of T25 at first but I was wrong. Everything I've seen on the net and media has been positive recently and I haven't encountered that for 15 years. It's because Mike has given them something to talk about other than gossip and eccentricities. When talk turns to MJ's music it can't fail but to be positive.

i'm so proud of him i could just split in two. this is the primer for new music, i'm sure we'll have it before long, and i can't wait for new short films!!! remembers something back said before about this isnt' a comeback it's a TAKEOVER! and just keep watching....

I'm All EYES! Go Michael!!!!

I have played the album at work, and people that normally say he is crazy, white, his nose is falling off etc are saying 'oo i love thriller' and 'i wish i could moonwalk' etc

So this is a very very very clever move :)

yeah my sister told me that those friends at school who use to like think MJ was a total freak and a pedo etc, are actually talking about T25 and saying how much they love it and all. and no negativity!

so definite postive move. :)

Just bought the delux one from ITunes and two hard copies from HMV the one with the zombies on the front. Loving it and its good to have MJ rocking my day again.

My fav album was always DANGEROUS but there you go.

AMEN to that:D

I went to HMV to buy Thriller25 yesterday, and it's sold out already! :(
I checked HMV's website, it's sold out there too. The SA told me they may get another shipment today, I'll difinitely back to get my copy. :punk:MJ is still hot!

Thank you for the information, guys. It was great to hear such a good news! :woohoo:

This why I have been saying since I have been on this board that you can not listen to the media. This man is still loved. Now look, these same idoit media folks are at his feet again. It is good but it makes me mad as well that people can be so fickle.

I know what you mean, and I'm not defending the media but it's because the focus is on the music, it's so positive. People / press that don't like other parts of Michael's persona (whether true or not) can't argue with the quality of the music.

Yeah, all the entertainment news talked about T25, CNN showbiz even said" you can say whatever you want about MJ's personal life, but talking about music, he's the true King of POP..." See? That's the power of MJ's music, keeping even the most malicious haters STFU. :)

Wow, this just proves that some fans should just TRUST Michael when it comes to music!

I think it's going to be more interesting how the sales figure for a brandnew album will turn out. This is Thriller people...it's already the best selling album of all time.
And with fans buying 7 or more copies, no wonder it's going to be high in the charts.
So, in my opinion, T25 doesn't really prove how popular Michael is in the public's eye at all! Only a new album will show...
And it's about time.....*sigh*

If you can still sale 120k in the US on a re-release without a video or live performances then i think that does mean you still have very good sales potential. All it would take is a blockbuster 1st single. The current Thriller 25 doesnt even have a blockbuster radio single in the US. WBSS has been decent, but i wouldnt call it a blockbuster with Akon

the first single from Michael's new album has to be a smash. I think if the first single is good, then the album sales will be good

I am glad to hear that is doing well so far :). I have bought it and also the Bad tour dvd.

You knew when Michael made news he was gonna re-release THRILLER, they stop their bickering at him. As soon as the hype dies down, they'll be back to it like nothing happened. Nice to see you back though. Your presence was really missed. :flowers:

new or old, if he has fans buying multiple copies of a disc they already own ... wouldn't it make sense that the same fans will be purchasing multiple copies of a BRAND NEW disc ??

Thriller 25 is more than a re-issue... it is re-exposure **SNAP**

The only thing that was missing on Thiller 25 was a small hint there a New CHAPTER or new album is in the works! Like BRAND NEW MUSIC COMMING SOON!

I look at "Thriller" as an assessment that people are buying it either because they wanna know about the HYPE or their copy fizzled out.

That may be so Timmmy but in this electronic, web-infested era, the hype is easily taste tested online. Nobody has to actually buy the entire disc to get the feel. The hype is tangible and has been tested prior to the purchase. They are closet fans that are coming out the woodwork ... bet !!

Dang Michael is going to KILL IT when he releases some new stuff. I just know it.

Go Michael!

Well, I'm sure that there are a few people that will get to know Michael's brilliance for the first time with the release of T25....especially younger people.
So, in that sense, it's definitely a success.
I just loooooooooong for new material...that's all! :)

In 2001 invincible sold 366,000 1st week in the US. Mainly because of Butterflies which was blazing hot on r&b radio. If he can make a track similair to that level, but better,he can sale the exact same the 1st week as 2001 if not better.

Butterflies was a great radio track, but if he can have a lead off single thats even hotter then that, then he will surprise a lot of doubters.

I agree. And as to T25 just by itself not counting the original, with everything that has happened to Michael in the last five years, all the negativity, the fact that this is doing so well is proof of something. Because this could easily have gone the other direction right at the start if all the people who bought T25 really believed half the garbage they heard.

what concerns me is that most of the places I've been to, Target, 2 Walmarts, Circuit City were all sold out yesterday. Anybody think the stores didn't order enough copies or that Sony didn't ship enough copies? Maybe they weren't expecting for the sales to be as high as they are. A couple of these places are expecting shipments next week. I live in the Atlanta suburbs in predominantly black neighborhood. I guess in order for me to get it, I'll have to drive 30 miles out of my way, but I guess I'll have to call first.
