Re: BAD 25 CD Live songs Wembley Stadium July 16, 1988 [Discussion thread]

I really like it. It sounds good to me. I know this might sound silly but I was singing along and when Michael said "clap your hands" I did lol. I like hearing the crowd and they sang along too.

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

Did anyone else catch that little nod to Stevie Wonder during the Bad Groove? It was pretty subtle but at one point the drummer played something that sounded exatly like the intro for Supersition

Yes, I noticed that too. I adore Superstition! And drummer put glasses on and made head movements like Stevie at this moment

I ripped the DVD PCM stereo track. Much better than the CD Audio version in terms of quality. The sample rate is higher, thus better sound quality.

But the mastering is not Michael Jackson worthy. The man had great ears and would turn this release like if you're actually attending the concert.

The audio was recorded magnificent, but the mixing is quickly done. Very poor mix, I think. And the surround is a total joke when it comes to the musicians.

In my opinion the live mix of THE POLICE 'Certifiable' is the best live mix I've ever heard. Listen to that and then the Wembley show of MJ, then you'll understand what I mean.

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

Yes, the microphone stand lol :shifty: I wish I didn't see the photo of that scene before I watched the DVD, so I knew what to expect. Michael could have been a pole dancer :shifty:

You could almost say it's fantastic to hear the early version before he messed it up with "Smooth Criminal"...

You're being sarcastic here, right? Right??

Re: BAD 25: The Original BAD Tracks CD 1 [Discussion]

@Mike P
the 3rd pressings you posted all have DD as 4:52. the revised version is 4:42.

2nd Press with original mixes minus IJCSLY intro cover says "Digitaly recorded". Bad wasn't digitaly recorded.

Yeah, the times on the back of the case are inaccurate. When I put the 2nd pressing CD in my computer, iTunes lists IJCSLY as 4:13. When I put the 3rd pressing CD in, Dirty Diana is 4:42.

So, it seems for the 2nd printing they didn't correct the time listings on the back at all, but for the 3rd printing they corrected the time listing for IJCSLY but not Dirty Diana.

I'm not sure about the "Digitally Recorded" part though.

Mike's adlibs at the end of I'll Be There was out of this world. He took them to church with that one

One thing to keep in mind in regards to track time. Most computer software that rips audio from CDs will include pre-gap data in the rip of the song. That will make the tracks longer on a digital file than it is on a CD. For those that are used to listening CDs might notice the pre-gap data as the countdown on the CD player display before the song starts playing. I'm not sure how iTunes exactly handles it when ripping, but it's just something to keep in mind. I think out of all the Bad tracks Leave me Alone had the most pre-gap time with 3 seconds.

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

OMG I finally saw it and I loved it. I can watch this again and again. I love it! He did an amazing job and I felt I was 12 years old and 1988. There are so many things I liked.

1. I loved the beginning when I didn't know how Michael would come out and the smoke cleared and there he was.
2. I loved how much he smiled and had a good time.
3. I loved when Rock with You he had a slight giggle.
4. I loved that tent thing on stage and how they used that with the show
5. I loved smooth criminal but I missed the lean lol.
6. Dirty Diana... hello I am surprised no girl didn't try to jump on stage on him lol
7. I love Billie Jean and how it always gives me goosebumps
8. I love Bad and how the kids came out. That one little girl came out and didn't dance and she just wanted to hug Michael aww.
9. Man in the Mirror I loved but it made me cry. He looked like an angel at one point.

There is more but I have to watch it again. I thought that Greg was funny and how he and Michael interacted was cute. Is he invloved with Cirque de soleil or am I thinking of someone else? If he is in Spike's documentary I look forward to hear from him.

I want to thank the estate for Bad 25. I love all of it. It's hard since Michael passed for me to really love something because a part of me feels sad. But this made me happy. I want to thank Michael. It was his tape and it to me was a gift to us from him. I love him always and will treasure this forever.

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

It did kinda annoy me that the camera zoomed in on Michael when he did (What i like to call) the mini lean for Smooth Criminal

Re: BAD 25 Demo's unreleased, unheard Studio songs Discussion [previews added]

Love "Al Capone" but to say "Smooth Criminal" is a messed up version of it is a bit harsh. MJ remade it and although I LOVE it as it sounds on Bad25, I doubt it would have been as popular if it were released like that... But I guess it's a matter of taste!

Not the original album then..?

So I thought Bad25 was going to be the original album untouched!!?
With spoken IJCSLY intro , Smooth Criminal breathing etc.....?

the cameras are kind of annoying -.-

No to my knowledge was it ever advertised as original pressing -
I believe Joe Vogel article discussing each CD and tracks
stated That CD1 BAD album would be from the remasted Tracks of 2001

Can someone pull up the descriptions that were posted prior to release ?

I wish it was. I grew up on the 1st pressing, so when I heard the 2001 cd, I was surprised. I love the spoken intro to IJCSLY with good had phones it seems like he is only talking to me:) But, alas it is not, and it is the best these songs have ever sounded.

Re: BAD 25: The Original BAD Tracks CD 1 [Discussion]

Considering MJ worked on new mixes after the album came out, I have no problem with it not being the original mixes. We are getting what MJ's final vision of the album was.

Yep. You can really tell that this wasn't filmed to be shown to someone not in the audience.

Re: BAD 25 CD Live songs Wembley Stadium July 16, 1988 [Discussion thread]

I think the cd is amazing, but they cutted the begin of Rock with you.. The end of dirty Diana & Beat it.. and much more little things.. i wanted the full show! But still cuite amazing
We all have to realize the full show will not fit on the CD - so parts needed to be cut. I guess everyone will have a preference of what they wanted to remain and what should have been cut but that doesnt take away from the fact .. Thats its still an amazing CD of MJ live.

Yeah he is the musical director for the Cirque Immortal show :D

Re: Wembley DVD content - Discuss Michael, his Wembley concert and performances Only

What happens to the big silver belt round Michael's waist from the end of She's Out Of My Life to I Want You Back? It seems to dissapear into thin air.

Edit - You can just see Michael Bush come and take it off him!!!

I do wish they had remastered original mixes and included them as extras on disc 2, as there would have been plenty of room on there to do so and that way disc 1 would present the album as MJ wanted it while still offering fans a chance to hear the original mixes in amazing remastered quality.

if record companies can release versions of albums that were originally released in mono and stereo with both mixes on the same CD release, than surely this could have been done and probably would have made it a definitive release.

Did anyone else catch that beatbox that Michael was doing towards the end of I Just Can't Stop Loving You? I loved that
