What Are You Listening To?

Re: What are you listening to?

Watching fireworks on tv in Washington DC and they just played Rhapsody in Blue!! It was fantastic.

Re: What are you listening to?

Other than staring at all kinds of pictures and posting countless rambles in here I spent all day [and so much of the night lol] listening to pleeenty of music.

My morning playlist included some rather adult material from the likes of Kelly (Rowland), Nicole Schwerzinger, Another Level and Lil' Jon. I've also been YouTubin' through Shakira, Beyonce and PCD classics; Janet's new jam was also on heavy rotation.

If out of all them song played throughout the day I would have to choose two they would be

Turns out that not only can I move along to some of these tunes and shake them brutally honest hips of mine, but I can also carry a couple of sentences (ok, words lol) from Bee's songs with a tone relatively similar to hers. Sure hope my almost invisible and microscopic ego is not making another undue appearance :p

My "Mixtape" playlist.

Now Cold War by Janelle Monáe is on. Next up in queue:

The Brand New Heavies - Midnight At The Oasis
The Gap Band - Outstanding
Whitney Houston - Didn't We Almost Have It All
D'Angelo - 1000 Deaths
Jamiroquai - Too Young to Die

Re: What are you listening to?

A masterpiece in hedonistic calls, a heathen creation, lavishly sensual, deeply profane, nymphomania-inducing anthem, one that matches my totally disclosed pagan and sinful, shamefully impure desires and my disturbing and frightful, ridiculous and absurd needs..........a little gem called.............Butterflies ;D

LOL at that description but so spot on.
I was never terribly fond of Invincible and rarely played it. And then a few years ago played 'Butterflies' and blushed bright red. BRIGHT RED.

Don't know why I didn't recognize the blatant sensuality the first time. Jeez.

Glad to see I ain't the only one detecting the "blatant sensuality". Fear not about the delay in noticing all the more or less subtle expressions, many people do that. Michael's sensuality seems to be the world's best kept secret :D Many have forgotten or never realized just how smoooooth the man could be.

Re: What are you listening to?

It may be redunant considering a previous post o' mine in here, but I can't help it :p I was listenin' to MJJC radio earlier and the Eve remix to Butterflies came. I had forgotten just how uber cool it was. In between the original version, the little J. Cole ref in Janet's awesome song and this......we're all set, right? :cheeky:

Re: What are you listening to?

Keepin' true to my nature & location earlier today I was reminded of some oldies from Rhianna. A funny sayin' on Twitter actually reminded me of this funky #

the twitter wisdom was this :D

and then there is this other 1

Re: What are you listening to?

"Dream On" sung by Steven Tyler and Carrie Underwood. Drea mo-on, dreamo !

EDIT: @ Girl: I haven't listened to the songs you posted, but I gotta say, you're an oxymoron hehe. When I see the word "girl", I think of a little girl. Except for certain contexts like songs etc. But what you post makes me wonder how old you are lol. Not that it's bad. Your profile says "Naughtyland". How old are people over there ? :p

I cannot even begin to tell you just how much I love that song. It is an absolute masterpiece. I need to check out this particular version, I really need to. Btw of dreamin', the Aerosmith song reminded me of this groovy number from the Brand New Heavies (in the version without Siedah) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FB8nIGKbpJY Dream on, dreamer :) Their Brother Sister album is rather cool as well.

Dream on, dream until the dream comes true.......or there is always this other option :p

Looool @ ur little edit there. Can't say I blame you for the confusion though. I are a walkin', talkin', groovin' contradiction. Been called a few things before, but oxymoron ain't one of 'em. The moron part definitely fits though lol.

And Mr. Smith Sr., don't you know it isn't proper to ask a lady her age? You are welcome to feel reprimanded at this point :p But since I ain't much of a lady, I'll go ahead and answer your question with a self-reference I made a friend of mine many years ago. Same as I told him then, I'll tell you now - just because I love cartoons a lot, it doesn't mean I don't thoroughly enjoy my golden satin sheets also. But you are quite right to associate me with a little girl; a very scared little girl at times, but also a big girl, an absolute granny in certain respects lol. I probably am old enough to be your grandma btw. Nahhhh, j/k, only your mother :D

Oh, and people in Naughtyland are quite similar to those in Neverland, they never really grow old; they are just kids basically who occasionally [ok, rather frequently] enjoy quite adult activities :cheeky: And btw of such activities, another song I've been exploring today is one of Michael's favorite tunes also

:clap::bow::cheeky:

Re: What are you listening to?

^^^ Thanks for the song, I did not know it. Dream on, dreamer-eeeeer. It's good. Please tell me what you think of the mashup Carrie sang with Steven, if you manage to find it. As for the funny sentence about sleeping, sometimes I wish I could not dream. You manage to forget someone and that same person pops up in a dream, which turns it into a nightmare. I like your honesty. Hehe, grandmother this, mother that, you do not even know how old I am. :)

Oh that "Ignition" song. I find it bittersweet because I had liked it before seeing Michael dance to it. After watching Michael let the beat talk to him, I liked it even more. Now that he's dead, it reminds me of R. Kelly showing the footage to his audience. :(

By the way, I can't give you rep yet. The forum says I have to spread some around first.

Re: What are you listening to?

Not a Ri-ri fan but Only Girl is my ****ing club JAM - when that ish comes on, I lose my mind!

Right now I have St. Lucia on repeat. The best 80s band - in the 2010s. This stuff is amazing! When you watch their videos on YT, everyone's minds are pretty much exploding but nobody knows them. It is le sad.

LISTEN AND LURVE

Re: What are you listening to?

Mr. Smith :p........I tried to send you a PM in order not to derail the thread any further, but you are over quota. You need to delete some of the stored messages so you can receive new ones.

Re: What are you listening to?

@ Girl: Sorry about that. I've deleted a few. Michael's voice: "Do it !!!!".

Done :) For reasons explained in the message, I'm not sure you should have deleted that many. This is an exception more than anything else, cause I truly don't want to take the thread too much in O/T turf.

One thing though.......when exactly did Michael say "Do it", in what song or where? I don't remember it. Whenever I hear those words I can't help but think of the Nike motto "Just do it". Or were you simply trying to mimic him? And in which one of his voices btw, he had soooo many :p

Re: What are you listening to?

This morning I was listening to You Can't Win on my way to work. It's a fun song, especially the "do do deet dah" parts and the "laughing" vocals near the end.
