Jackson faces Neverland auction

Pop star Michael Jackson could lose his Neverland ranch if he fails to pay nearly $25m (£12.5m) that he owes on the sprawling California property.
If Mr Jackson does not pay more than three months' arrears on the property it will go to auction on 19 March, a Santa Barbara official told the BBC.

The reclusive singer has not lived at the property since his acquittal on child molestation charges in 2005.

He bought Neverland in 1987 intending to create a fantasy-land for children.

It is named after an island in the story Peter Pan, where children never grow up.

After he purchased Neverland, Mr Jackson built a zoo and fairground on the 2,800 acre (1,100 hectare) property north-west of Santa Barbara.

It was closed in 2006 after he failed to pay his staff or maintain proper insurance.

According to court documents cited by Fox News, the auction is to include the house and everything on the estate including "all ferris wheels, carousels, merry-go-round type devices... and all amusement ride equipment and facilities of every kind or nature".

This is real and is in the process of happening. BBC spoke to court officials who said that the loan must be paid or it will go to auction. we have seen the auction officially listed:

Why are people (including the mods) burying their heads in the sand?

Mike owns money on the property and hasn't paid. FACT
If Mike doesn't pay, then he will lose Neverland. FACT.

If Mike really wanted to get rid of Neverland and start again, he could have sold it himself after the trials. He could have demolished the buildings and sold the land for development. he could have developed the land himself. There were options open to him. The fact that it has come to this is embarassing for him and shows to me that he really wanted to keep the property for himself. No doubt when the sales is finalised there will be people crawling all over it to uncover all kinds of secrets and sell loads of stories to the press. This will be a very rough time for Mike and the fans - expect lots of nasty stories!!

I don't understand why he didn't get out there making money long before now. Sure, he has just released Thriller and it is doing better than most people expected, but it's been years since the trial and he could have released a brand new album by now. He could have performed a few concerts to earn money. He could have done interviews. there were so many ways to raise money that he hasn't taken advantage of. It is very strange to me.

The situation is real, so lets stop trying to bury our heads in the sand.

so is it the whole 25 million or is it 3 months arrears of mortgage payments? I am confused

-AWWW POOR THINGS! I THINK THEY FEEL FORGOTTEN ABOUT:lol: After all, he is currently neglecting them in favor of international success in regard to his latest!

There's no burying of heads in the sand here..but this can be true for any of us who have a mortage (which means $ owed). If am behind & I pay..then..A-ok. Until it is passed & I have again refused/opted not to pay..then it's final!

Believe me, we are not at all making light of your our continued concern for MJ & we appreciate both it, & your efforts to update us:) However, I/we hope to ease your mind in regard to the facts, not the contrived or assumed. We welcome you to join us in continued prayer/good wishes for MJ.

However, 1 thing.. for sure! Snedville, betterhavenot, entered that house, or else we have that vegas auctioned item situation, all over again, (which he & Jan won & there stuff just got released late last week).

But somehow, this time, I think MJ is going to show just what a swat that glove of his can deliver! I think this is also an underhanded pr tactic on the part of his mortage company to get him to pay up.....a little early. Which I hope he sues 'em for!

i was hoping for some more info as reading this on text got me out of bed. i had hoped this had been sorted since the jan 20th deadline cmae and went. *sigh*sneddon and co must be laughing their heads up and at another feck up. i guess if he hasnt been able to sort it out over the last few months the likey hood of it being sorted in 3 weeks isnt much either. why the hell doesnt he just sell it off his own back.

is it true about nothing from inside the house is able to be moved.? thats not normal.

Thast a sad news :(butI 'm sure that Michael wont let this happen to him :), he will pay that amount . He does'nt want to sell the Neverland .

It better not be true that the belongings inside won't be allowed to be recovered by Michael. That would be adding insult to injury in a way.

For the average Joe, it would not be true, but I can see them hanging on to MJ's personal belongings, even the tissue he blew his nose in may have more value to them than the land itself.:)

In a legal forclosure situation, Dats can u plz explain how one' personal belongings are included? (I'm seriously asking, w/no intent to be sarcastic toward u)

Yeah Datsy, I can see that too. Though that information might be errouneous. It's just wrong if it is true. I don't want this to happn for a lot of reasons, one of which would be the pleasure the "law" down there would derive from it.

In Santa Barbara there is one law for Joe Bloggs and there is another for Mr Michael Jackson. So Yes, I would not be surprised if they try and hold on to his personal belongings. All they need to do is get the judge to sanction it. I heard that Sneddon had been celebrating the intended purchase of Neverland last christmas. isn't that a coincidence?:)

The thing I don't understand about Michael is the fact that he can even make money with Neverland instead of loosing money.
Look at Elvis his Graceland, the family of Elvis is making a fortune every year just by opening the gates. Michael should do the same thing and have a Michael Jackson museum. I think Millions of people are intrested in visiting Neverland (who does not want to know everything about music's biggest legend !!). The ranch being closed for years only cost money.

Michael if you read this: I know a very well buisness man living in Holland and his name starts with a T ;)

Michael cannot do anything in the place if the authorities don't grant him a licence to do that. That licence has to pass through the very people who have been working behind the scenes to steal his property from him.

I don't think Michael ever viewed his ranch as a public attratction and he is such an intensely private person that I doubt he would be comfortable with something like that. Elvis was dead by the time Graceland was turned in to a thing for the public to gawk at, essentially. Neverland was always a sanctuary for Michael and a non-profit facility to better the lives of children and adults.

Hey again, I've been aware of all of the above, but however, my point is this yet another convenient stretch of the law by S.B.. making it an individual effort in regard to normal exisiting laws relating to foreclosure in the U.S. correct? So this again would be S.B. attempting to re-write & proceed with it's own rules?

Cause If so, get ready peeps for S.B. to finally get more attention than what they've been asking for, (since 93').

Maybe he DOES want to sell it after all....

then you should sell it yourself. you dont allow a foreclosure to happen on it..its bad business to allow that but then again thats not surprising is it.

maybe he was unfortunaly mj allows this crap to happen.he sets himself up everytime. they must be laughing at how easy it is

Let's all calm down and wait...we are not Michael Jackson so we don't know what's going on. IMO, he needs nothing more but our support and love right now. We should stop criticizing why he did that and he didn't do the other...the matter will be resolved one way or the other!

Let's not buy into their game of getting us to blame the very person they are attempting to make a victim. Blame them. Plzz don't take offense but remained encouraged!

*ON a note to everyone here:
Pray, fast, stay encouraged, ( both in regard to MJ & your own personal/family lives)!
If you do things, go forward knowing you can then enjoy a peaceful nights rest or a blessed/ prosperous day!

That's the most troubling prospect of this whole ordeal. If Neverland ends up going to the auction block and the winning bidder is granted unprecedented access to over four decades of Michael's personal and professional belongings, it'd be absolutely sickening. The raids were one thing, the storage facility memorabilia mess was another, but having all of Michael's very personal and priceless possessions go into the hands of an unknown would be the worst yet because I picture public tours and displays, non-stop media innuendo about everything found at the ranch, questionable items randomly showing up which never belonged to Michael but people will claim they did just to start more twisted lies, and so on. Land is one thing, but Michael's personal belongings are another.

Of course, none of us know at this point what is going on behind the scenes or what Michael's thoughts are on any of this, and there are still three weeks to resolve the matter. As long as Michael is fully aware of all that is going on with Neverland, the ball is in his court to decide what he wants to do.

I'm not gonna start arguing with any of you here. I'm here because I love Michael and I don't wanna get into the game of arguing for nothing! What matters to me it's his well being nothing else!

Well, all we have to do now is wait for a press release from Ms. Bain declaring that Michael is not losing Neverland, right...?

is it on the documents that everything inside the ranch will be taken aswell or is it just coming from media reports. its this 100% confirmed?

Well, he's had almost three years to get things out of the house. If it's still packed with personal belonings, this whole situation is even sillier than it already is.

Yeah, that's truly disheartening. I hope Michael can resolve this, I hope he's aware of this, one never seems to know what his advisors keep from him, its been proven in the past that they don't always keep him up to date, usually for selfish reasons. If he is and he doesn't want this to happen, perhaps he has the capability to fix it.

This is an effort to upset both MJ & the peeps who love them. Don't let them win.

We are all here to support one another (also in regard to matters that are, not MJ related). Pray not only for MJ but the many peeps here & across the country who are dealing with the issue of record foreclosures.

but why would you move them? he doesnt have anywhere to put the things. you dont spend huge amounts on storage when you have a place to keep everything.

anyway if its just coming from a poster and not the docs then it doesnt matter.

I would like to see how you would have survived the avalanche of persecution that was unleached on you and come out of it with your sanity. Maybe Neverland isn't that much of a disaster, when he still has his freedom and his children and his name. Remember those. He still has his sanity too. Poor Britney might have settled for losing her house and still have her children and her sanity.:)
