A good performance of Amy Winehouse (help from the grammys)! We can also see a very good performance of the Thriller reissue who is #4 of the 2008 sales!! We have to note that during the first week of the years, the sales were 3 times more high than usual because of the New Year's Day.
 
Thanks for posting this WONDER news...

do you realize T25 is ahead of today's "hot" artist (in red) in the industry that have made countless personal appearance worldwide.. Michael has done NO personal appearance.. and still manage to be 4 in the world sales..............

not to mention T25 has been out only 2mos

umm.. I thought he was a has been??

What amazes me is people like Flo Rider gets all this radio airplay and all he has is this one hit.....Low. His album hasn't even sold a mil copies. I don't think he even reached gold status yet.

Michael doesn't get much radio airplay and his album is about to go gold in the US in one more week or so.

Simply amazing.

Yeah, it's still very early in the year but this is still good news for Michael. T25 has done much better than most expected (myself included).
 
lol i remember when the press release was released back @ MJNO estimates where that it wud sell a little over 600k hahaha look @ it go

Exactly! I think that says something about radio as well. Maybe more people aren't using it as a prime source of listening to music anymore. There's the internet and ipods/mp3s where people can customize what they want to listen to. It's harder for radio to force people to listen to or be swayed by what they put into rotation. We even have online radio where folks can listen to their fave type of music without commercials and interruptions...unlike most traditional radio stations. The industry is definitely changing in many ways due to technology and the internet, that's for sure....which is why so many things that were predictable in the past are now becoming somewhat unpredictable.

It's good to see Michael on the list. :) I haven't heard of most of these albums, though, so I can't see how they were top sellers(Jack Johnson, Alica Keys, Amy Winehouse, and Radiohead I have heard of.)
 
It's pretty early to start talley for 2008.. we're only in it's 4th month and albums from last year are still selling pretty well due to promotion..

but, whatever.. good talks.

Her album has sold nearly 10 million..

Now this is HUGE..

If someone like Amy Winehouse can sell near 10 million. And have the best selling album for nearly 2 years..

Just imagine what an album by MICHAEL JACKSON could do..


Her album is the biggest album in a while..

I know, Amy Winehouse has outsold Alicia Keyes and I don't think that Keyes is gonna catch up with her because Keyes' momentum has already slowed down.

Remember that most of the other albums were out last year so sales in 2008 would probably have been much lower, in comparison to Thriller 25 which was released this year. Still cool!
 
Are the numbers cummulative for both last year and this or are the totals only for how much has sold this year?

Are the two numbers in brackets the weeks on the charts in 2008 and in 2007 respectively?

You gotta put the sales chart into context. I do agree that Thriller is performing well considering everything, but as someone else said, quite a few of the albums in this list were released a looong time ago and so they are the ones we should be really impressed with (Amy Winehouse in particular). Mika is another example, he had 48 chart weeks in 2007 and is still in the top 10 for this year (so far).

I was thinking of that last night. MJ has only been in for 8 weeks. He is doing well, but those that are still at the top after many months are doing better. We need to wait until several months have past before we know the full extent of how MJ is doing on that chart.:)
