It is also significant to note that MJ has an entire ALBUM preseved, and not just 'a song'.

Yeah that is absolutely incredible. I won't be surprised if in the future Off The Wall is preserved too.

Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ Among Cultural Treasures

By Kevin S. Vineys

The best-selling pop album on planet Earth and a disc sent hurtling into deep space are among recordings the Library of Congress will preserve for their cultural significance.

Ut seems that they are funally acknowledging that Thriller is the biggest seller, instead of that greatest hits.

"Thriller" is the only contemporary or mainstream album on the list which I think speaks volumes as to what an influential artist MJ is. A Big Congrats Mike! He is THE ultimate icon.

I was channel surfing and got to FAUX News just as they annonced something like, "The Feds are after Michael Jackson... in a BIG way," then went to break.
My heart literally stopped!

After the break they showed a bit of the Thriller video and spoke about the album being added to Library of Congress' National Recording Registry.

Now that my heart has calmed down, Congrats Michael. So happy.

^^Ya know what I like about that Google screencap.....they are using his NAME...

...finally they have to respect him, to respect themselves.

This is awesome news! Congrats to MJ.

Today's "hot" artists cannot do what MJ can do or have a album on the National Treasure List.

After the break they showed a bit of the Thriller video and spoke about the album being added to Library of Congress' National Recording Registry.

Funny how they started off with the story about Thriller being a National treasure. That is News Corp for you, full of ish.

HIStory, indeed.
Michael Jackson's Thriller, the 1982 album that turned the Gloved One into a pop superstar and went on to become the biggest-selling record of all time, is among 25 musical works selected today by the Library of Congress to be preserved in perpetuity.
Thriller and the two dozen other recordings added the National Recording Registry were deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" to America's aural history.

Thriller spent a year in the Top 10 of the Billboard album charts, spawned seven Top 10 singles and sold upwards of 100 million copies worldwide. A 25th anniversary edition was released last year.
Other notable inductees: the 1956 original cast recording of My Fair Lady; Roy Orbison's 1964 signature hit, "Oh, Pretty Woman"; Smokey Robinson & the Miracles' 1965 gem "Tracks of My Tears"; Joni Mitchell's 1972 album For the Roses; and Herbie Hancock's 1973 jazz fusion smash, Headhunters.
The latest batch brings to 250 the number of recordings contained in the registry. The full list of new additions after the jump.

Ah well, that's not important.

I am so glad you said that. Michael worked with some of the most famous and most respected people in the industry. Most of them were catapulted to exceptional fame along with MJ. THEY cannot be respected, unless MJ is respected. it goes both ways. When John Landis speaks of thriller, you can tell that he is very proud of his work and he wants the world to know he did that, so does Quincy and all the others. But if the media deride MJ and his work, they lose too. I think that is realised now.
