I've listened to the track a ton, and it's a weak end track for what most believe to be an all-around weaker effort of an album. The song utilized the current use of electronic manipulations of the voice and I don't think it came off very well. The song IMO doesn't seem very polished and feels like it was over produced with too much going on. Also the song without the Rod Serling parts would feel more like a regular MJ song, but with his lines included it feels like a semi-remake of Thriller.
IMO Threatened was one of the best tracks on the entire album.
What's interesting about the Rod Serling voice overs is that most of them are taken from a particular episode of "The Twilight Zone" about a little boy who just had to think a bad thought about someone he didn't like and that thing would happen to them. So everyone in the episode was always trying to make this kid happy and not piss him off, and no one could be angry or depressed around him or he would do things like turn you in to a jack in the box or send you to some mysterious place you could never escape from called "the corn field". It was really pretty scary.

You think you're by yourself, but it's my touch you felt
I'm not a ghost from Hell, but I've got a spell on you
Your worst nightmare, it's me I'm everywhere
In one blink I'll disappear, and then I'll come back to haunt you
I'm telling you, when you lie under tomb I'm the one watching you
That's why you got to be threatened by me
I love the complexity of this song, however I don't think the lyrics has a subminimal message. I just think this is like "Thriller Pt. 2"
But if it has to be something subminimal then I think it's just "Yeah you can call me ***** or whatever, but watch this". Just to kind of turn all that tabloid junk into another level and make "art" out of it.
At the end of the day, you can find any subminimal message you want depending on what your initial thoughts wore.
I mean, let's say I want to make it as a subminimal message that it's about cigarettes.
Read the lyrics again while you think about cigarettes and you'll find that many things in the lyrics has a connection with cigarettes, or the craving of it.
cigarettes????
i do not belieVe, either, that there are subliminal messages in this sOng.
and this lyric is deeper and darker than a "thriller part 2" kind of thing. sOmething is going on, right unDer Our nOses...but what is it????
it was one of the best tracks on the album, to bad if you play it backwards theres alot of swearing and satanic messages asking us to attack people
O really? I bet your one of those people who think all those Zombies dancing in Thriller were actually dancers in heavy make up..... with some people the truth can be infront of there eyes and they will be to afraid to handle and so the lie to themselves by acting as if its not real.... well it is very real, Michael has the control over the dead, he can animate dead bodies through his dancing.... I still like him though.he's not into voodoo  thats media legend nothing more
I have always enjoyed the beat of this song. It is one of my favorite's from Invincible. Hadn't listened to it in ages, but when I did, the volume was kicking!!
In the song. Michael is being playful and having alot of fun with incorporating the "monster" scary theme. He is such a fan of ghouls, lol.
But the song itself or my take on interpreting the song is this: This is a song about knowing someone is resisting you and you( the singer) not taking "no" for an answer. It's about making a "threat" to them that you are Everywhere, even in their thoughts whether they like it ot not.
The art of Pocessing your obsession.
